Waiter was wonderful. The food, while stylishly plated and beautifully presented, was too greasy. The biggest problem was the moth attack. Moths flying everywhere around us floor to ceiling. Uncomfortable.

Quality & taste of the food was rather average / disappointing for such a high stared hotel resort and price point. It was good, though the most underwhelming in 2 weeks trip in Costa Rica/ Mexico

One of my favorite places to eat and have drinks when in Guanacaste. A special thank you to Rebecca and all of the staff for our time spent at Chao Pescao and the Andaz. Rebecca's mixology course was one of the highlights of our travels.

Dining on the terrace with a perfect view, the food was delicious and the service perfected. Loved tasting different Latin American cuisines and everything was so flavorful, the food did not disappoint! We had the Costa Rican rice and beans with chicken, sounds simple but fantastic flavors with a lot of depth; Jamaican jerk chicken absolutely delicious; pan seared snapper as great; the skirt steak was phenomenal. Drinks also on point. Loved our dinner here!

Our sever - Edgar was amazing! The service was quick and he was knowledgeable in helping us decide what we wanted. We visited 3 times during our trip! The empanadas were my favorite!

The food is absolutely DELICIOUS! I recommend 4 tapas for two people. Marisol is a delightful waitress and we have been lucky to have her as a server not once, but twice! The food is so good, you’ll be back again. 😉

It’s considered a Tapas place but the portions were sizable…. Especially the beef. The octopus was the best I have ever had and way different preparation… da Vaca Mojoto… made with gin, which I love was top notch

This was our second time at Chao Pescao. We love it! The only reason I gave the one four star was the cost of the Diet Coke -$7.50 for a can. The food was reasonably priced and worth the money.

Food was delicious. View and ambiance was amazing. Service was great. They had live music which made it impossible to have a conversation. It’s located inside andaz a gated hotel so it’s like trying to get into camp David if you are not staying at the hotel.

We went to Chao Pescao twice while staying at Andaz. That’s how much we enjoyed the food AND the excellent service by Victor. Hubby & I are not big eaters, so especially enjoy tapas portions. Victor was so knowledgeable about the menu & helped us with our selections both nights. Only repeat was the Provoleta as a starter because we liked it so much!!

Everything was really good and the service was great. The spicy tuna, steak, and garlic prawns were great. The lobster mofongo was dry, wouldn’t get that again. The cocktails are very good.

We dined there 3 times and managed to experience so many countries! Highlights were the garlic prawns, jerk chicken. Service was stunning with Marisol, she took care of us amazingly well all 3 days and was so kind, happy and even topped it off with a beautiful happy birthday for my son for his 11th. Everything we had was delicious, especially the octopus, and the Costa Rican dishes. I highly recommend saving room for the dessert. The churros and the ice cream were both worth every single calorie.

Family friendly. Wonderful, friendly staff. Carlos gave beverage recommendations and did not disappoint! Favorites were the skirt steak, spicy tuna, empanadas, and pork belly tacos. Our daughters (9/12yr) enjoyed the fare as well! Pura Vida!

Really nice ambiance and there was live music providing a nice background. We ordered the smoked pineapple cocktail per the server’s recommendation. It was mediocre and tasteless, though it looked impressive. The server gave me an awkward puzzled response when I asked for a different drink. Then the bartender came by to see what the problem was. It was too much hoopla over a drink I didn’t like. The empanadas, fried plantains and other food were delicious however.

The food here is excellent. The one standout is the octopus but everything we had was at least good, and usually very good to excellent: ribeye, empanadas, churros, all terrific. Service at the restaurant was also excellent. That being said, I would definitely not recommend this restaurant if you’re not staying at the Andaz. To access the restaurant, you have to go through two security stations, one to enter the peninsula, the other at the hotel, and combined this exceeded the time I spent going through the customs and immigration line to enter Costa Rica. Lots of questions, having to repeatedly show my cell phone to prove I had a reservation, unpleasant and not the least bit welcoming. We were about to leave before finally being granted access but we were too hungry and had driven too far to leave and not eat. And generally happy we stayed because the food was so good (and the service at the restaurant itself was very good). But I would never do it again.
