I visited Chantico with a person who grew up in the Yucatan Peninsula area, and he said that the food was as close to his home flavors as he's ever found in the US. The portions are perfect, the flavors are complex, the service is excellent, and the cocktails are well crafted.
This was our first time at Chantico. We love the sister restaurant, Ocotillo, and now we have another new favorite! The food was great and plentiful, service was good, and we loved the atmosphere!
Server forgot our cocktails at the bar. One person‘s food did not come come out with the rest and we waited 15 minutes for her food. We were at the restaurant for just over an hour before we got our food. We requested a split check which was forgotten.
First time in for Sunday brunch. Everything was excellent. The steak and eggs were fantastic!
I’m not sure if it’s due to being short staffed, but Chantico has a lot of work to do as far as service and expediting.
Two of our four entrées arrived, literally, less than two minutes after our appetizer was placed on the table ... and the other two took an additional five minutes to come to the table. It was very awkward and not at all handled well.
Other main issue for me was my tomato allergy. I am always in the habit of making the server aware immediately and I asked him to check with the kitchen to find out if the chicken enchiladas had any tomato ingredients. I asked him to let me know what other entrées would be safe for me to eat if the enchiladas were not safe for me. He came back to the table and told me I would be fine with the chicken enchiladas as long as I ordered it with the green chili sauce, which I did. Unfortunately, my meal was the one that took the longest to come to the table because apparently the chicken was marinated in tomatoes, as well as the black beans, and they had to remake my entire meal. This is something that should’ve been addressed immediately upon the server checking with the chef in the kitchen. So, they remade my meal without the chicken and I simply had cheese enchiladas with no protein. Had I been told this when I ordered, I would’ve chosen a completely different entree. But because everyone else in our group was already close to finishing their meals I ate what was put in front of me.
Besides that hiccup, I have to say, the food was very tasty and everyone in our group enjoyed their dinners. The chimichangas were enormous, the grilled chicken plate was presented beautifully, the chipotle mashed potatoes were fantastic, and the grilled corn was gone in about two minutes.
It was a beautiful restaurant and we may consider going back, but I believe the kitchen and servers need to communicate much better in regards to food allergies. They need to be taken seriously.
As a note, We were not charged for my meal.
We were celebrating our 5 year anniversary. This place is honestly phenomenal. Walking in the aesthetic was trendy, chic, yet welcoming. The music volume was perfect - you could easily talk and not get distracted. The service was great! The servers were extremely friendly. The sangria will knock you on your toes! And the margaritas are fresh and lime-y. I had the tamales and they were super soft and flavorful, the shredded beef was melt in your mouth. I highly recommend this place for a cool venue to have some good grub.
Service lacking! Barely walked to our table - tossed the menus and disappeared. Server was terrible - zip on personality and super slow on getting drinks, asking how food was but quick on the bill! This was our second time and unfortunately the last. We will stick to thei sister restaurant- Ocotillo.
Abby took care of us and made us feel so welcomed. Her recommendations were spot on. Food was delicious. Everything was perfect.
Short on staff, although the staff that was there was attentive.
Very impressed with the ambience, service and taste of all our dishes. Of all times I have no pictures but just know we will return for more!
Great food and attentive service
We have been to Chantico three times. Once for Happy Hour, next for dinner and this last time for brunch. Each and every time the food was poor to mediocre. They're trying to be gourmet Mexican but they fall short of creating dishes that actually taste good. Service is hit and miss. This last weekend service at brunch was a miss. The waiter had an attitude and was slightly sarcastic. One dish with a fried egg came out well done. Beans on another dish were dry. It's just not very good and we will not return.
Great brunch. The queso is very good! The outdoor ambiance is lovely.
The ambiance could use work. Plating of the food was sloppy and the overall energy / vibe was mediocre
Food was great. Service seemed too slow and got our drinks incorrect both times.
Good food and service. Make sure you have a reservation. Parking is tough arrive early to show time to find a spot or take a ride share.
This was my 2nd visit to Chantico, and I enjoyed experiencing what seems to be the main patio seating area this time (by the bar). The traffic on Camelback is loud, but not so loud that we couldn't have a good conversation. Those lava rocks seem to absorb a lot of sound. Love the ambiance and décor.
Abby (sp?) gave us an amazing experience! Was so personable, loved talking all things PHX with her ❤️ will be back!!!
Outstanding food. Excellent vibe. Great evening!
The Unicorn Tears drink was incredible. The vegetarian options across your menu lacks a bit of flavor. The beans over power the quash.
We had a very good experience. The food was delicious and presented in a very nice way!
Food was not bad above average. I am very picky when it comes to Mexican food. The Halibut Cevice was excellent. Chips and salsa, above average. Needs a better variety of Mexican beers. Pacifico and Modelo are not. Chocalan Origen Carmenere 2018 wine was great. Floor was a bit dirty, we sat in what is called the patio area, kind of an indoor outdoor space and noisy from the traffice outside. Server was kind and attentive. You should consider Tres Leches cake or a variation, it would cover the people who want to celebrate a birthday.
The workers are all super nice. And food and drinks are amazing
Great brunch food and cocktails and easily one of the best patios in Phoenix.
We waited well over 20 mins to get served. Our server came out to apologize over miscommunication; however, never came back. Instead we were served by someone who said she had seen us waiting and apologized. Her service was appreciated. My taco came out cold as well. I just won’t visit again.
Menu great. Food amazing. Cocktails amazing. Service outstanding. Top marks.
Ambiance and drinks were good; food was incredibly unimpressive and downright not good.
This was our first time at Chantico. When we arrived we had a little trouble finding the entrance since we parked on the street, but found it in the back by the parking lot. We were seated immediately and our reservation request for outdoor seating was honored. We were seated in their outdoor covered area which was lovely. As a Covid precaution, we always wipe down our table, chairs, and menu before sitting down. When our waitress, Kassandra, came to our table to greet us she made sure to tell us that she saw what we were doing and that she had made a point to sanitize her hands as well and was taking precautions for our safety. That helped put us at ease. We were given chips and salsa which was nice and we also ordered some queso which was delicious. Kassandra was always on the spot making sure that our water was topped off. The menu had many choices, especially for me since I am gluten free and the gf options were clearly identified on the menu. My significant other ordered the shrimp flautas and I had the cochinita pibil. Both were outstanding, but the cochinita pibil was the best I have had. For dessert, we had the roasted pineapple with ice cream and it was beautifully presented. A little bit of effort since we had to cut up the pineapple, but well worth it. Overall, a wonderful experience and we will definitely return to Chantico.
Visited here because of rave reviews on TikTok and open table. Found the overall restaurant, and most importantly the food and drinks to be very underwhelming. The atmosphere and ambience is nice but I would not return for the food and drinks.
Nice restaurant but the food is ok..
Found out they pre make everything before so you can not substitute
anything. You get what's listed.
I was really surprised at the overall experience and said halfway through the mail to my wife that this is a restaurant I would come back to
Everything was delicious and portion sizes are very American LOL
Nice place, very good food. Never thought I would rave over beans, but theirs were exceptional. Great brisket enchiladas too
It might be a CoVID low staff issue but the service was slow, our order was wrong. Had to wait even with a reservation. Second time here and the food was mediocre. Hopefully proper staffing will help.
Our server Greg helped us navigate the menu - since it was our first time there. He referred to the tacos as traditional street taco size (thinking 3-4” tortillas) so my very hungry 20 something daughters ordered 4 each & also a tamale. The tacos are huge - at least 6” tortillas - which is fabulous, but not if you expected a taco 1/2 that size. The guacamole was very expensive for the portion that was served.
Needless to say - both daughters asked for Togo boxes because of the misguided description of the size of the tacos.
Everything tasted great, we will come back.
Noise level in the outside seating was loud. Patio opens up to Camelback - so you could hear all of the traffic.
4 people, 2 drinks, guacamole, entrees and tacos = $120 + tip
I am sure our next visit
The menu is delicious, filled with traditional options with a flavorful twist. We will be back!
Delicious as always! Can’t get enough of the enchiladas and spicy margs
This was our 3rd time. The food was amazing the first two visits. However, for this 3rd visit the food was average. My husband ordered the ribs the first two times and the meat had great flavor and fell off the bone. This time the ribs were over cooked and the meat was tough. We love the atmosphere at the bar, but the food was not as good as our previous experiences.
Great per usual. Food and service was top notch! Anthony knows his stuff!
Great first experience, the food, the service the ambience was perfect. Thank you for everything
