We were here for Mothers Day and did not have good experience. Very limited menu due to a Mothers Day only menu. You could not choose from regular menu. Drinks took forever to come and were not offered second until we were done with food. Waiter set down bill without even asking if we wanted dessert or coffee. Some dishes were okay but none were great. Would not go again with large group or special occasion, did not seem to be able to handle how busy restaurant was that day.
Last time I was here was more than 6 months ago and this time I had family in town and wanted to treat them to a nice dinner. I was hoping the surf n turf special would still be going on but right now it is Crabfest through Memorial Day. Last time we paid $50 for what is normally a $69 entree so this time we paid full price which would have been fine had the entree been prepared well. We ordered 3 portions of the USDA Prime Filet Mignon and Lobster Tail and a side of mushrooms and broccolini. We skipped the drinks because they were not good last time.
The entree looked good but that's where it ended. The mashed potatoes and lobster were fine. We all asked for medium rare on the steaks but they were cooked closer to medium but since the meat was tender enough we did not send it back. The sauce on the steak was the worst. It was a viscous brown gravy that did nothing to enhance the flavor of the steak. It was bland. I moved my steak over to the lobster side to use that sauce which was a little better. Next, the sides were a failure. Our favorite mushrooms were not palatable. The mushrooms were a flavorless, watery mess. We sent this one back for them to remake and it came out a bit better the second time but still nowhere near as good as last time. The broccolini also needed improvement. It felt oily and hard, like it needed a little more roasting time.
The person making the sauces tonight was not good. This person was probably the one responsible for the mushrooms too. I always thought Chandler's was consistent in their quality but after this disappointing visit I'm going to say that spending my hard earned money here was not worth it.
Was very disappointed. Ordered truffle fries. They were not fries but potato wedges and most of them were undercooked. It should be more specific on the menu about being wedges. Also calamari was just ok, nothing special. Had the surf and turf. Lobster came with a sauce on it, again not stated on menu so had to send it back for one without sauce. Although the steak was good. Our server was very polite. And the rolls weren't fresh crust was very hard. Won't be going back.
First off, I gave them 3 tries before I write this review . We went for lunch on a Saturday at 1.55pm. The server could not care less so he brought us the " brunch" menu. A family came after us and he was very nice to them asking if they wanted the full dinner menu or brunch!!! Ok! So we ordered our " food" and mind you the entire restaurant had maybe 10 tables that had to be taken care of and there were other servers so it was not like a busy situation. We waited for 45 minutes and my husband went to find the server to ask if the food is not coming please let us know so we can leave. The manager got involved and he ordered the server to find out why?!? When the food came it was so cold( I ordered steak/ crab/ rosemary potatoes) that the sauce under the steak was thick ! The manager was nice and said he will take care of us. So when we asked for the check the server said would like any desert and we said no thank you and he said very rudely " it's free are you sure"!??? And we said no thank you and I think the final check came in with 10% discount .
This is the third time the same issue with the careless servers, messy kitchen/ lack of Su chef is happening?! Why did I go back? Because we wanted our guests to enjoy the water front restaurant and every time we were promised that this would not happen!
They charge you 20% mandatory service fee because they know how crappy their service is. Expensive food, horrible service and no I would not recommend this restaurant !
Greeted by staff with Happy Birthday wishes, everybody very friendly, table in a quiet spot with a view. Waiter (Brian) was very attentive, wine was a bit on the expensive side, food was very good.
Both of us were very happy with our selections. Felt a bit rushed which was not necessary as there were many empty tables. A good experience.
I had not been to Chandlers recently. In my prior visits they had the freshest and best seafood available.
On this occasion food quality was sadly disappointing.
I got crabcakes. These were of low quality, tasting stale, uninspiring and dry. These would have been disappointing even in a fast food restaurant. Definitely not worth the substantial price this restaurant charges.
I tried a standard, ice cream for dessert. Strange flavors, overly sweet and thoroughly unpleasant.
I don't know if I just had a bad day or if this restaurant has fallen from its former grace.
When we arrived we were greeted very nicely and were promptly seated . Our cocktail order was taken and it arrived in a timely manner. I ordered crab on ice and it was excellent, my husband ordered the choppino which arrived luke warm but when sent back was nice and hot.
We enjoyed our dinner and will be coming back again.
To whom it may concern... This is my experience at your restaurant...The positive, nice ambiance, good food. The bad, service. The waiter got the first course order wrong. Ok, no problem. I am a low maintenance kind of guy. The second course (surf and turf) was very under cooked. Our server never checked back to see if everything was okay. I asked another server if she could find our waiter and she never did. I flagged down a manager and he re-plated the food only the steak was still under cooked. The ugly, %20 gratuity. The word tip is an acronym for "To Insure Promptness". I don't mind the included gratuity even if I receive mediocre service but this establishment failed on every turn when it came to service. I would have given zero stars for service if I could have.
We went for my wife's birthday this week. We used to go to Chandler's fairly regularly about 10 years ago, but haven't much in recent years. Anyway, we were really surprised and disappointed in how the quality of the food has declined. Our appetizer was a crab stuffed mushrooms and it was undercooked (mushrooms were still hard) and not flavorful at all. Our main courses weren't much better. My wife had the crab stuffed salmon, which was just ok, but she really disliked the roasted vegetables (which we had to pay $4 extra to substitute in for the default vegetable on the plate). I had the seared ahi tuna which was a huge let down. I love seared ahi (I get it at Daniel's all the time and love it there). But this one had some type of seasoning and oil that made it unbearably spicy (and I like spicy food--I travel and eat in India often). It also had a cous cous salad or something with it that I really thought was bad. I got a cup of the Whiskey Crab soup (which I used to order every time I came). Even that isn't as good as it used to be; the crab pieces in it were stringy and brownish (the flavor was ok, but it seemed like it had been sitting on a burner all day long).
Anyway, this was just a big disappointment. We were actually talking about getting this restaurant back into our regular rotation before the meal; no way we're going back after that. Way too expensive for the kind of food quality you'd expect at Red Lobster.
We were there to celebrate a family birthday. The great views created a the ambiance we always look forward to when coming here. The food was great and Brian our server was outstanding. We would recommend Chandlers for a special dining experience as you can count on fresh ingredients, great service an that special view!
Food was mediocre and service sucked! With some Seattle restaurants adding 20% service charge we felt that we were basically being robbed and can't do anything about it. I wouldn't mind paying the service charge if we've gotten good service. Our server didn't even try. Came by once to fill water and that was it. However, there was a server there that worked his butt off and we wished we had him. This service charge thing really makes it unfair for some that do work hard and some just don't give a rats about cause they know in the end they will get it.
A colleague from KC and I went to dinner during Seattle Restaurant Week. I chose to have the fried Brussels sprouts for the appetizer which I've never had before. I had a different sauce on request--Garlic aioli. Surprisingly, the appetizer was so delicious. Great taste and texture with the sauce. My second course was the steak medallions with crab, including mashed potatoes. I was so full that I ate less than half of the entree and had the waitstaff pack the rest home for me to enjoy another night. For dessert, I had the Valrona Chocolate Torte. It was really rich, creamy, and to-die-for. I took most of it home so that I could enjoy it again. I'll have to say that since I devoured the Brussels sprouts, I was so full I couldn't eat the rest of the two courses. Didn't care too much about paying for parking.
We went to Chandler's Crabhouse during Seattle Restaurant Week. What a phenomenal experience - the food was great, our server (Maria) was outstanding and friendly, and the view of South Lake Union and the marina was relaxing. I will definitely be back again!
It wasn't the best dining experience. Our party of six came here to celebrate my mom's birthday. The service was friendly and nice, but they didn't go the extra mile. One of the people in my party had a somewhat undercook/raw chicken and my sister received the wrong dessert. The chicken was voided off our ticket because it was sent back and we received an apology. Nothing was special about this place, so probably we won't be returning here.
First time there in years! Went to their Sunday brunch with reservations at 10am. Due to the early time, we practically had it to ourselves. We got a window seat with great view of activity on Lake Union. Was great due to being very quiet, so no problem hearing. Was a bit disappointed in their "Classic Eggs Benedict", as the eggs were overcooked. Still, a pleasant experience.
This had all the makings of a perfect evening. Beautiful view, perfect table, superb service, cocktails were tasty and the crab cakes were the best I've ever had.
Then the main course arrived. The seafood in my cioppino was all cooked perfectly-a difficult task. And I believe the broth would have been great, but the dish was drizzled with a annoying cream sauce that dominated the flavors of the stew.
And the scallops with the sweet potatoe purée looks fabulous - but it was tepid. It surprised me that both the sweet potatoes and the scallops had chilled, because the dinner came faster than We had expected.
Normally I will point out cold food, or make a comment to our server, but we were in the way to a show and had to scoot. We were also having such a good time in spite of the food, I didn't want to spoil the mood.
We arrived about 8:30pm due to a delayed flight. The reception staff were welcoming and friendly when I called to explain the late arrival.
Our waiter was patient as we took a while to decide on our orders.He did not rush us even though they stop taking orders at 9pm. My steelhead was perfectly prepared- moist and tender. The chopped salad and chocolate decadence were delicious. A $32 bargain for Seattle Restaurant Week!
I came here with my friend for restaurant week. Overall food was okay. The restaurant week menu option was not as good as el gaucho or aqua by el gaucho. And they ran out of dessert options pretty fast so I had to pick something I didn't like.
The service was pretty terrible. I didn't have water for most part of the dinner after I finished my first cup of water. At the end, I was trying to use a gift card and credit card and split the bill with my friend, the waiter made a mistake at the beginning. I politely explained how I wanted him to split the bill for us. He stared at us with a lot of anger, and took away the checks and cards without saying a word. This place charges everyone 20% gratuity by default. So I guess that's why waiters can be rude to guests without any concern or hesitation. But I definitely think this shouldn't be how it works for a $$$ restaurant even though I went there for restaurant week.
Used to be my favorite seafood in Seattle, but no more. It doesn't look like they have invested in their bathrooms or furniture for years. The food is okay, but way overpriced. In addition, you are required to tip 20% even though Seattle requires $15/hour as the minimum wage.
I used to love Chandler's crabhouse. Their salads and crab were delicious. I recently went back and the quality of food is not what it used to be: the crab bisque was watered down, I could not see any clams in the clam chowder and the espresso had no taste. The service was also lacking- I ordered but never received my green salad and my espresso came in a very very dirty cup. Would no longer recommend this place.
We were a group of 5 sixty somethings. We asked for a change of table for better view and for more quiet surroundings. Chandler's crew obliged us without any hesitation. We had the same server from a year ago and she was delightful. I forgot to ask her name. We ordered charred octopus for appetizer and it came tender and delicious. Our entrees were all perfectly done, the tuna done in mediterranean style took the top spot. Overall, a very enjoyable saturday evening.
I have been going to Chandlers every year for many years, for my mothers birthday because she loves it there, and so do I. The service is great, the food and ambiance are beyond reproach.
This time we went for lunch, and the prices had increased substantially, and the biggest issue, was the Mandatory 20% surcharge on the Bill. I don't mind tipping, and usually tip 20% or more, but removing the choice is unacceptable. Sorry for the negative review, but forcing customers to tip a certain predetermined amount is not tipping, its compulsory.
We will not be returning unless things change back, sorry.
