Wonderful time. Accommodated our requests
It was really nice!! Took a little longer than expected but that was ok. Good service. Delicious food. Would go again!
We had a great Valentine's Day Dinner, the food was delicious and it was a great atmosphere as well!
Fabulous prefixed Valentine dinner. Chateaubriand was magnificent as was the eggplant’ Squash blossom appetizer was very good!
Great Sunday brunch! Plenty of choices on the menu and service was fast and friendly.
Poor service. Slow and not attentive. We had to park in a bank across the street because the parking lot was full at the hotel. For the quality of the food it was very overpriced.
Saturday night @ 7pm and we were the only people there. Def., not the place to be when in Oxford.
Unfortunately it was not very busy in the Grill that night. Most of our guest preferred to sit in the Lounge and dine that evening so they could watch the LSU basketball game that started at seven. Or other guest dined earlier that evening on their way to the LSU game. Sorry this left you sitting in the Grill alone when the game started.
Christmas Day dinner with family
There was hardly any service. The bar tenders were covering the bar and trying to wait tables also. They needed more help, took forever to get anything. Finally got to order dinner, after waiting way to long the food came out. Salad, appetizer, main coarse, all at once. When the bar tender finally checked on our food, it was all done so we got it all at once. Being hungry we just dug in. Everything tasted ok, steak was over done from medium, all the vegetables In the gumbo, shrimp and grits were raw and crunchy. Nothing was cooked or sautéed, everything was just added. Everything was very bland, no flavor. There was a group of 8 children that was very loud And rambunctious while the parents enjoyed a beverage on the patio while not paying attention to the kids. We have heard the CH was a good place for dinner. Now that we have tried it, we won’t go back.
Delicious food and great service. Ask for Marty. He has waited on our table on a couple of occasions, and he does a fantastic job.
Best in Oxford hands down, breakfast lunch and dinner!
Brunch was delicious! Good choice of menu items both lunch and traditional brunch items available on Sunday. We will definitely return!
Chose the salmon on the advice of our server. It was outstanding, one of the best salmon preparations I've ever had. A nice evening. Thanks!
We had high hopes for this place, but were quickly disappointed. Food was ok as we waited almost an hour and half and then it was lukewarm. Our waitress disappeared for 15-20 min at a time and was not attentive or personable. Ambience was poor as you couldn’t hear any music just noise. Very disappointed!
Quality of food didn't match the price. Over priced. The waitress did not come around much. There were only about 6 customers eating at the time. Not busy at all. It was a nice atmosphere, but expected a lot more than what we got.
First time in Oxford. Loved the menu, ambiance and service.
The food was good, but WAAAAY overpriced for Oxford, about $10 an entree more than other fine dining like Snack Bar or City Grocery. Very weird, too, we reserved on Open Table and given an option of only 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. We chose 8 p.m. and when we got there the dining room was closed. They scrounged up staff and we ate in the bar, which was okay. We expecting a busy place, given the reservation limitations. A relative who lives in Oxford and eats out twice a week says they have priced themselves out of competition. Location 3 blocks off the Square is not ideal either....
Vibrant bar in the evening and very good food. Breakfast was yummy on more than one occasion. It is definitely a place I would return.
Service was not good. Sat there for 15 minutes wanting to order a glass of wine. When I finally did it came after I was done with my entree. Not good.
The food was amazing
Dinner was cold
A great place for a family dinner or group of friends coming back to Ole Miss for a reunion to catch up over a dinner. The food was great and atmosphere was a perfect setting!
Great food and ambiance for business dinner. I’ll definitely be back for personal and business dinners.
The service was excellent and the menu was inventive and varied. We enjoyed the whole evening.
We went for the happy hour and tapas. Everyone liked the chili shrimp, gumbo, and tuna. No one liked the oysters which were very small and pale in color, not like charbroiled at all.
Great food! The charcuterie tray was phenomenal! All the food was great and tried every dessert, all fabulous. Great wine menu as well. Went to dinner after getting married and it was such a great experience!
Enjoyed dinner very much. We had house salads with fresh ingredients and tasty dressing. Our filets were perfectly cooked as were the accompanying vegetables. The young lady who served us was very attentive and friendly. Nice wine. Would go back and would recommend it!
Food was outstanding- party of 9 and everyone was happy with the quality, preparation and presentation of their dishes.
Service was not nearly to the standard expected for “fine dining” as advertised: server auctioned off drinks (I.e. “who had the red wine?”) passing of dishes to the hard to reach seats - entree plates came out slowly (~ 5 minutes delay from first dish to last). No attention to detail. Very expensive for that kind of service.
Food was subpar. The steaks were way over cooked, the vegetables weren’t seasoned and the veal was bland. Very disappointing.
Great food and service. All extremely friendly from valet, hostess, to server.
The food was good but the crab cakes were advertised as lump crab meat and it was more like canned crab meat. Very stringy and not lump meat at all. That was disappointing given the upscale surroundings. It was almost as if they ran out of lump crab and went to Kroger for something off the shelf.
Yes sir you are correct. The jumbo lump crab meat does come in a can, as all jumbo lump crab meat used in restaurants do for crab cakes and such. All of our seafood comes three times a week direct from Off The Dock and we have tremendous faith in their products. Unfortunately we cannot control the size of the jumbo lump crab meat that is provided. We are glad to hear that the food and service were good. Let us know the next time you are dinning with us and we pick you out a lumpier crab cake.
Tapas and wine half price in nice atmosphere - great deal. However, it is available only in the BAR, not in the Grill, despite their reservation system advising us of the half price deal IN THE GRILL when we made our reservation. So it was awkward, in front of guests, to either choose to move to the bar or make a special request for them to honor the deal in the Grill.
Great food and service
I don't know when I've enjoyed a lunch with friends so much. Six of us enjoyed the most wonderful service and meal! The Chef John came out and talked to us about our dishes, and everyone on the staff was so friendly and warm. I can't wait to go back! What a gem in Oxford's landscape!
First time to visit chancellors house
We really enjoyed the food and experience
We had a great time with friends. We loved dining in the lounge! Dinner was delicious and the service was great! Looking forward to doing brunch on our next visit!
We were so pleased with every aspect of our dinner at the Chancellor’s House. We were shown to a lovely table in the beautifully decorated dining room. Our server was very good, and seemed to know just when to appear. The main courses that we chose, veal saltimbocca and chicken piccata, were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious. For dessert we had a huge brownie with ice cream which was the perfect ending to a wonderful meal.
We go there for brunch almost every Sunday and the food and service is great. Easter Brunch was a different story; they called at the last minute to change our reservation and said it was a brunch. They did not say the price was $50/person. The Easter Brunch at CC of Oxford was $25/person. The prime rib was not edible. It was very stringy and I couldn’t even cut it. He put this huge piece that was extra rare on my plate. It took my appetite. The catfish and the gumbo were ok. I was very disappointed in the experience.
