Our dinner at Champps was outstanding. Our server was delightful and made our experience even better. The cheeseburger sliders are adorable and tasty.
It was also a convenient location for the rest of our evening plans.
Food was mediocre and service was slow.
Waiter was great. Food took forever to come out and came out in stages. All of our fries were cold. It was a Saturday night but they were not crazy busy, so not sure why there were service issues.
The kitchen was painfully slow but our server was tremendous.
The food was horrible and was missing a lot of my order
They were out of a lot of food items. Everything my wife was going to order, they were out of. Service was great though.
Table not ready; order was incorrect and they did not want to make it right
Chammps was great! Great food! Great service! I will be returning!
I love you guys always friendly I appreciate your time
We had a great time at Champps for lunch. The food was very good, the nachos were a little skimpy on toppings, but overall, everything else was great!
Excellent and attentive staff. Food was good and requests for adjustment to the menu was easy.
The server was great. The manager Amanda was awful. Decided to touch the food with her bare hands with no gloves on, scratched her head while continuing to touch food, ate a piece of chicken off a salad, food was cold, burger buns were hard. We sat in the back by the large glass window watching her and she still denied it.
Got the chicken Cobb salad. The olives were sour. The waitress made a comment to me suggesting that I was a picky eater after making an order to have everything on it. Basically called me out for not eating them. The cheese was sub or for a 13 dollar salad. Waitress made politically incorrect comments saying my friend didn’t speak American and would call him Mr. Accent. Some random guy came by and said she was the best waitress on staff and then asked about Mother’s Day to change the subject. When asked if she watched the news regarding the crisis in Venezuela because she was interested in my friend’s background she said she doesn’t have time to watch the news because she works all the time trying to pay the bills while having her arm around him and nudged another friend of mine. Service was fine, but unnecessary comments and calling me out for not liking the olives didn’t sit well. She should know that America doesn’t have an official language and am sad to hear that she is the best they have.
The service was terrible, they were short staffed on the night of a concert nearby. My order was not placed by the server, he forgot...and neglected to let me know until we were able to flag him down 20min later. He did comp my meal, which he should have.
Our server was absolutely amazing! The steaks were cooked exactly the way we ordered them.
Terrible drinks with no alcohol and were definitely not prepared for a convention in town
FDIC 2019. Watching the blues game
We went before a concert, food was cold, service was slow. I wont be going back as this was a last resort due to everything else being booked. They did not plan for the additional concert traffic.
Usually the food and drinks are great. The bartender was taking forever to make drinks. We could see her make other tickets that came in after ours. Waited 25 minutes for drinks for each drink ordered. We were a party of 2, not 20.
Took over an hour to get food, waitress only came by the table 2 times, we were late to the rest of our conference.
We were seated promptly and the order was taken in a timely fashion. The service was great and the food was fine.
Before Pacer game
Great food. Quick service
Reservations from Open Table app were not honored. We elected not to wait the 35 or more minutes and dined elsewhere.
Found a hair in one of our dishes. Waitress’ solution was to tell the manager so he could remind people to cover their hair. Manager did not stop by to check on us after we told her. I expected an adjustment to the check, which was not made.
Excellent flatbread and jalapeno slaw. Great beers on draught.
The place was packed that night with a Christmas party and several large tables. The wait staff worked really hard to serve everyone. The food was very good. The place lacking was staff in the bar. It took way too long to get a drink of any kind. We had our food before we had our drinks...There is a huge trade show every year at that time in Indy. The downtown restaurants are very busy...they should have been better prepared.
It was my first visit. It was just ok. My chicken was burned with the burned side placed down so I did not see it until I bit into it. We were one of 5 tables in the place at the time. It was conviently located to the circle and an easy walk. We picked it because it was near the theater. Nothing impressive may or may not go back. No real opinion one way or the other.
Great service. Food was great,
Food was great. Waitress was good just not very friendly.
Went to eat, drink, and watch IU football. The staff was accomadating. They had a hard time finding the game and made it a priority finding the game.
I confirmed the reservation in person 2 days prior and reiterated that we needed a table for a disabled person. I was assured this would not be a problem. We arrived 15 minutes before our reserved time to check in and knew we would not be seated right away. However, when our reservation time came and went, we inquired how much longer our wait would be and we were told that they had a table outside available. We had seen the outside space and noted that there was no space for a mobility scooter to get outside. So we said that we needed to be indoors and wished to be seated at the same table (the reservation was for a 7 top). They quickly pushed 2 four tops together but still could not make the space needed for a scooter to access the area. My husband was 'asked' to leave his chair at the entry way and make his way to the table or there could be an additional 25- 45 minute wait. He had to lean heavily on my son to get to and from the table and was unable to sit comfortably for dinner.
This is by no means fault of Open Table but of Chammps alone. We will not return to this establishment.
We were a party of 5...2 adults and 3 kids. We were seated outside, which we asked for because it was a beautiful evening (5 p.m.), but the outside atmosphere was less than desirable next to our table.
The restaurant has fencing around the outdoor seating area, but just outside of the fence, there were people smoking right behind our table...going directly into my children's (and adults) faces. This went on for most of our dinner.
The view of several homeless people drinking out of liquor bottles and engaging in other activities was terrible and disappointing. IMPD needs to do sweeps of this area. They sat/stood there our entire meal. Champps management should encourage the police to patrol this area more regularly. I doubt this was the first time this has happened....maybe don't seat families in this section. Also, they could put up a partition so that smoke doesn't blow into their diners' faces.
The food was OK...Nothing special. Our service was also disappointing.
Love being able to do reservations
Great place to socialize.
Got in right on time for my reservation. We had a party of 9 and they were able to accommodate us on short notice. Other restaurants would not let us use Open Table with such a big party. I would recommend Champps!!!
1. Hostess stand did not have our Open Table reservation. They said their computers were down - not a huge deal.
2. Heat was not working in the restaurant - we had to eat our dinner with our coats on.
After sitting down:
1. Waited for 15 minutes and no server stopped by our table. I went to hostess stand and asked if we could have a waiter. 5 minutes later, a server appeared and took our order.
2. Food was very mediocre. For apps, we ordered the spinach dip (which was luke warm at best) and the potato skins (were okay). For entrees, I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my wife ordered the avocado tuna salad. My sandwich was okay - nothing special. The coleslaw side was not good and I did not eat it. My wife could not eat the tuna - it was clearly not fresh.
Overall, this experience was very disappointing. I grew up in Indianapolis and have fond memories of eating at Champps. Granted I haven't been back in about 10 years so maybe the menu, ownership, etc has changed.
We actually never got to the dining part of our experience because the server had a horrible time getting us seated, even though there were plenty of places to sit. Obviously, they must have been short-staffed. After a rude customer who had come in after us complained about waiting, his group was seated before us! We were still left waiting, so we finally left!
Good food but it seemed our waiter had too many tables to handle
The food and the drinks were great. The waiter was very hateful and he did not want to even talk to us until it was time to give us our bill and then he acted like we were best friends.
I will not sit in his section again, his name is not being put here on purpose. I will go back here however for the great food and drinks.
