Overall, a very good experience.
Would have liked the tasting to include more wines.
The only negative was the noise level in the tasting room. The room has a conversation area with tables, live music, and wine tasting at the bar all happening at the same time. It was so loud it was next to impossible to carry on a conversation or hear the person who was describing the wines. It was a welcome change to go into the dining area for quiet meal!
Great winery & the Bistro was wonderful! Very Parisian & server was very friendly & professional. Lunch was served quickly & food was awesome.
Pricing is fair & dining room was. Sry comfortable. Can’t wait to go back.
Food was excellent, service OK (a little slow). Most annoying thing--I killed 10 flies during dinner (many more from where those came!). When mentioned to server, she laughed it off as part of the "farmhouse" experience. They come in during the day when doors are open in winery downstairs. Duh, how about doors or closures for the stairways?!
Love this place go quiet often love the servers the food is awesome and inventive
Up date your website......burger Tuesday is for the fall season!
Tasting room has 1/2 price wine on Tuesday. Only!
When bring out small plates dips, cheese board for 3 people bring pita and bread for 3 people.
We asked for more and were charged........
You do have some good wines. We enjoyed the sampler we created.
Sincerely, Joan Reynolds
We used to own a timeshare about 10 miles north of Chamard Vineyards and would do a wine tasting every time we visited. Then they opened the Bistro which was such a nice addition. We live in NYC so don't get up there much often, and what a nice reunion it was. We were celebrating a friend's special birthday and thought the Vineyard would be a great place for that. There was a wedding going on, but it didn't really affect our dining experience. The menu is limited, but with enough choices to please, and the food is excellent. The atmosphere is so nice. It's on a little lake and you can dine inside or out. We recommend this restaurant.
My suggestion for a more pleasant experience has to do with seating. We arrived mid-afternoon and as a couple we were seated at a table for 2. Shortly thereafter another couple was seated at the next table to the right of us for 2. The tables were a little more than 2 feet apart. We felt instead of dining and conversing alone, we were seated with this other couple. 1 table away to the left of me was a table of 4, who we were also overwhelmed by the volume of their conversations. Although we tried not to listen into private conversations, it was impossible not to given the proximity of our seats. However, there were many other tables/booths available and upon reflection should have asked to be moved but we already had our glass of wine when the seating began. Not wanting to appear unsociable we sat there trying to communicate as best we could without speaking so others could hear us. If the restaurant was extremely busy, I could have understood but it wasn't...and also I feel management should give a little more personal space to diners so that we feel we are dining with each other and not with other diners on top of us to the left and right. It may have been more convenient for the servers, but it did lessen our enjoyment of our experience.
Excellent food and service in a beautiful setting. Wonderful
Overall, a very good dining experience. Nice ambiance, friendly service and good wine selection. The only negatives were the long wait time for the food to arrive and an overcooked pork dish. The wait time for the food after placing our order was approximately 45 minutes to an hour. The server said it was due to the pork dish one of us had ordered. That pork dish was supposed to be cooked medium, but when it arrived, it was definitely on the very well-done side. We would have sent it back, but did not want to go through another long wait time. My advice is to stick with their classy signature burger.
Excellent white wine and lunch on Fourth of July!
Their french fries, hamburger, Croque Madame, salad frissee were delicious..
My family's first visit to Chamard, at the referral of another friend, was for a lunch and wine tasting for my 60th birthday. Lunch was very good, tasty, fresh, service was on task and friendly. We were not rushed and were very comfortable with calming ambience. Great first stop at Chamard.
Food was very good as always but noticeably understaffed which I guess is understandable for a Sunday with beach weather
We looked forward to lunch at Chamard Bistro all week. After many very good experiences at Chamard, this last Sunday was a big disappointment! First the prices are way too high for what they are serving. I had the $27.00 pork bellies which turned out to be a two inch square of unseasoned pork fat with only about four bites of meat...Last time for that one! The accompanying julienned carrots and zucchini were too al dente and flavorless. My wife had the $36.00 lamb which again was a two inch square of lamb roast on a pile of veggies and asparagus. Not only was the lamb portion way too small, it had little seasoning or garlic and little flavor. Again the asparagus was practically raw and stringy and mostly inedible. This had all the makings of a good meal but was improperly prepared and served. Glasses of wine ran from $9 to $16 for 6 ounce servings.
This is the first time I have ever paid over $150.00 for a two person lunch and come away hungry and looking for the Dairy Queen! On the good side, our waitress was cute, prompt, and sparklingly friendly and did a good job with what she had to serve.
Nevertheless, management better jump on this one quickly and make some serious adjustments before Chamard Bistro loses its good reputation. Suggest they sample the entrees before they are put on the menu. Clearly someone was not doing their job last Sunday.
Amazing atmosphere on beautiful wine vinyard. Delicious wine and food. Great service, too. Highly recommend if you are in area!
Chamard is our favorite restaurant in CT and beyond. Food is great, service is impeccable and friendly and wines are fantastic. Weekend specials are a nice addition to the regular menu.
I enjoyed the experience. The wait staff
was very nice and attentive. The cheese and charcuterie apps were very good and filling. My lamb entree was good, but the piece of lamb was smaller than half my palm. And I have small hands. For $30 plus it was not worth it. The pork belly was good. But there was two to three inches of fat on it. I do know what pork belly is, but I feel the fat was excessive.
We had to stand too long in tasting room. It was too loud to talk. Then we had very poor service in Bistro w hardly anyone else in there. Very slow to get water, take order, deliver it, bring check. Also too loud in there.
Treated four out of town friends to pre celebration of daughters wedding weekend.
Visited Chamard Vineyards with my mother for a special treat since I was in town. It was about a 30-40 minute drive from her home. We sat on the deck and enjoyed the perfect weather and the lovely sound of the water and sumptuous view of the vineyard. The meal was yummy; we had starters and an entree. My mother did not care for the wine on the tasting menu and our server offered a taste more to her liking. The best part of our experience was our server. She had the right amount of friendliness and attention. We were relaxed and cared for. I am pleased with the award winner bottle that I brought home. The enjoyment here makes me want to experience more of the CT Wine Trail.
Picture perfect setting for any occasion. Love the options of indoor or outdoor seating for lunch or dinner A hidden gem tucked off of a tree line country road. Easy drive from I-95, worth a drive from anywhere.
Good food -- nice atmosphere --- for a winery you can get dinner and a flight of wine in the tasting room but you CAN"T get a flight of wine and dinner in the dinning room -- even on a quiet night our server said this "wasn't permitted"... Strange -- if you want to try a selection of the local winners (who wouldn't at a vineyard) then don't sit in the dinning room ...Food is good but a little bit pricy by local standards
The food (artichokes, fries, spring pea vichyssoise, steak frites, croques madame and cod) and service were very good and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves as usual.
I must say the acoustics are real lively in the dining room and we've found that there is always a very loud group in the dining room which have a tendency to make it a tad less pleasant though not unbearable.
Lovely setting, good food and service.
Love this restaurant!
Wonderful dining. We were seated earlier than our 5:45 reservation which was very accommodating to us.
Incredible meal with incredible service. Definitely going back
Exquisite location and ambiance.
Just a wonderful dining place.
Modestly priced for a farm-to-table restaurant.
Will definitely put it on our family's recommended list.
Food was good however service was very slow even though the restaurant was not busy.
Lovely dining experience and excellent service
There were four of us on a kind of party occasion: we ordered up a storm, ate all of it, and all of it was delicious! I recommend especially--the starter cheese plate, with many varieties of cheese, all of them good, and honey, fig and almonds; the French fries with aioli (just have these with whatever you order!), the cod on a lovely tasty sauce with assorted beans, delicious. The food is great, the service excellent and it's a pretty place in a blossoming vineyard: go there!
Went with friends for holiday weekend something to do. Did a wine tasting which was fun before lunch. Server was friendly and gave a nice little review of each wine taste. Finished early and was able to get seated before our reservation for lunch so happy about that. My burger was very good but a bit small on a large bun. The others had the sandwich with Canadian bacon, cheese and egg on top (don’t know what it’s called) that they said was good (not great). Dessert was also good but not great. We shared a raspberry almond cake and rice pudding. Only one of us had a glass of wine with our meal. Our server was extraordinaryly friendly but a somewhat slow. He seemed to forget about us and we had to get his attention twice. Considering everything, this lunch was a bit pricey. The only thing that made it worth the trip was a visit to the vineyard and the wine tasting and the fact that it was a different sort of day. It’s a lovely place but would probably not go back again.
Apps and entree were really great. Employees were very pleasant. Bottle of Riesling was delish. Only dessert was a fail - boring, "cookie cutter", and not satisfying! (had the $8 lemon tart)
Great wine and food. Nice to walk the grounds and see 5he vineyard.
We went to the vineyard on a picture perfect day to sit and relax on the deck and enjoy various wines and food served by an excellent server named John. It was fun tasting various wines taking home two bottles. The food was excellent. I never had a Croque Madam before after dining on a Mediterranean appetizer platter, my husband the meat and cheese platter followed by a grilled cheese made with awesome cheeses. Looking forward to our next visit for dinner. Please send our thanks to John who was attentive and a pleasure to talk with about the various wines.
Staff is wonderful, food is fantastic
Couldn't have been better.
My husband, David, and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch this past Sunday! The entire experience was lovely. The food was fantastic and the wine was better! Even brought a bottle home!
Beautiful venue. Food was delicious and staff was very accommodating. Planning to make this a regular spot for our yearly CT girlfriends reunion weekends!
