   Booked dinner for a friend's birthday. We had been the week before and knew the food was good. But once again they did not have something I specifically wanted which was a disappointing.

   cold food and rude waitress-a disaster! I would hate to go if it was busy! No chance of that though

   Food was only good value because we got 50% off, but otherwise would have been a bit disappointed. The halloumi starter was very good, but we ordered beef and chicken skewers for main, and the amount of meat on the skewers was very disappointing (on the beef one, there were three tiny bits of meat that were a bit over cooked and the rest was just peppers). The fries and salad that came with it were fine though.

   We decided to try Chalk again recently as we had a discount code, we have been quite disappointed since their menu and staff have changed. The restaurant was chilly, the music was inappropriate and the food was simply not very nice, my bruschetta looked like it had been pre-made and come out of a packet! The mains were edible but not very tasty and lacked "interest" ! The desserts were adequate but not worth the calories! All in all, we used to think of Chalk as our "go to" place for decent, reasonably priced, simple fare but not any more. 😔 The staff were friendly and efficient.

   Very nice place smack in the village of Didsbury the real one not Withington ! Good food at good prices well worth a try

    Was first time we'd visited since the restaurant has new owners. Was disappointed that the roast pork is no longer served with crackling, as was looking forward to it. Ordered two Bloody Mary's (ordered them spicy), both had way too much Worcester sauce and not enough Tabasco (if any at all) which only turned the drink a dirty brown colour, not the refreshing drink it's supposed to be. Also neither were served with celery. My partner chose the roast beef, which came over done and too tough to eat. It's a shame as we have enjoyed every other visit to Chalk in the past.
