Service, ambience & wine were excellent. Was a little disappointed in the menu this time - fish options were limited to mussels and octopus (was hoping for ling cod or halibut - something like that). Tried the octopus and thought it was OK, but not great. Also missed their French Onion Soup.
Amazing!!! Delicious!!!! Cheese puffs, salad, anchovies, duck and short ribs…absolutely ever did was terrific!!!
Went here following the VanGogh exhibit at the Convention Center. Perfect choice! The owner is engaged and informative. The helpers are young but attentive. And the chef just out of sight is accomplished. This little slice of France is an unheralded gem within the crowded Portland restaurant scene. C’est bon aussi.
The owner said that open table overbooked the small restaurant by double capacity at least but they still manage to make it a very good experience. The food and wine were great. I had octopus and my partner had duck and the wine was excellent and we got a complementary glass of champagne for having to wait a little bit.
This is our third visit and we enjoy it every time. We were glad to see that the menu changed and everything was delicious as always.
John is the best proprietor in Portland. The food is beyond reproach. Ask him for wine recommendations. Outside of Paris and Shanghai, I’ve not had such an intimate dining experience. The chef is so great, excelling not only at cooking but friendliness as well. He gave me intel on how he made the octopus, which was more tender than a scallop. I felt so at home and left that place the happiest I have been in a long time. Thank you all! This place is a must. It’s incredible.
We had been waiting for the right opportunity to try C' Est Si Bon! So glad we finally did. What a great experience. The food is great, the wine was what we were looking for and the service was outstanding. We were immediately transported back to a European experience. Love it!
Wish we had found this place sooner in life. Great food! Great service! Great period. Hidden gem in Portland.
Mussels were outrageously delicious. Same for the pink bubbles. Service and ambiance were top notch.
Absolutely fantastic. The foie gras and the Octopus were amazing.
Great place for a small meal or large. Went for a date night and ordered much of the menu. Everything was fantastic. This is the sort of place that makes you miss larger cities with more capacity for small, high-end restaurants. Not many like this in Portland. And on top of that, it wasn't the least bit pretentious. Food and ambiance were excellent, presentation was beautiful. The crepe for dessert is surprisingly simple and done perfectly. I can't wait to go back.
Great food, great atmosphere and great service! Looking forward to our next dinner at CSB!
Had a wonderful date night with my partner here. Great wines and incredible food made the night extremely pleasant. Fun atmosphere to have a long dinner.
I love this place for a elevated experience with loved ones.
This was our first visit to C'est Si Bon! and it won't be our last. They hit every note perfectly. We eagerly await news of their reopening.
We love this small restaurant and are glad it has re-opened after the pandemic. Most people don't know about it which makes it even better. Hope they change the menu a bit every two weeks so we can become regulars.
This was our first visit to C'est Si Bon and I loved the intimate atmosphere, although it did get a bit loud as the space filled up. It is very small/limited seating. The waiter/owner went through the menu with us and helped us decide on wine and food. The appetizer of cheese in phyllo was amazing, melt in your mouth sensation. The mussels were outstanding, the broth wonderful. My only complaint is that the bread is too crusty, even after soaking in the broth. My husband had a fish almondine that was also very well prepared and tasty. We did try to order a side of ice cream and never got it, seems the table attendant forgot and just shrugged his shoulders when we asked after about 20 minutes. He brought the spoons but no ice cream. But that would not deter me from going back.
Fantastic meal and experience. Small and cozy, great food and service! Will definitely go back!
Ranks among the best mussels I ever had! The entire meal was exceptional. Highly recommend this restaurant.
This place is a hidden gem. Great menu and wine selection, and a cozy and intimate space that made for a lovely dinner out. We have been here several times and C’est Si Bon does not disappoint!
One of the very best meals I have had in Portland. Will definitely be back.
Just amazing food and the wine pairings are spot on!
Happy to see them open again. Cest si Bon is the most underrated restaurant in Portland. The food, the owner's explanation of preparation, and recommendations when asked are unsurpassed. The seating is best described as eclectic, but when you have the best meal you've tasted in months, it's worth it. My wife and I love this place and highly recommend it.
Wonderful meal, everything was amazing- can’t go wrong! Will be back
We love chatting with John and enjoying the intimate atmos and fabulous wine selection
It was so good to be back at C’est Si Bon! Delicious food & wine and great service as always. We’ll be back!
Fantastic meal, service and wines. I’m so glad this restaurant is in my neighborhood.
Fantastic place, food, people. Will definitely come back.
Reopened after almost 18 months. Some rough patches due to short of help (owner admitted and apologized). The food was as excellent as before, and owner still very engaged with guests about food menu and wine recommendations, which makes this place special. Best of luck to them.
Wonderful! The mussel appetizer and braised short ribs are absolutely delicious.
As always, our dinner was a wonderful experience, starting with a warm welcome by the owner John. Everything after that was just as great-the description of the menu, choice of the wines, the quality of the food and service. This remains our favorite restaurant in Portland. It truly feels like a great little bistro in Paris.
Loved, loved, loved Cest Si Bon! The owner reads the menu to the table. Explains all the entrees, just so special. And the food? Well, it was absolutely delicious. The lamb cheeks were so good. And our friends ordered the Short Ribs, done to perfection! We had just a special time at this restaurant. It was one of the best dinners I’ve had in Portland in a very long time. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back! Good job, John!
An intimate setting, attentive service, a well-curated selection of wine and interesting French-influenced food. All at reasonable prices. What's not to like?
Always a delight. John is the consummate host. Every time we go, he has amazing wines to try, and new gastronomic variations , as well as impeccable preparations of the old standbys. The perfect venue for romance, celebration, and experiencing joie de vivre.
How have I not been here before! Amazing and wonderful.
Always great food and service
pleasantly surprised....most enjoyable first visit
I had not been here for a while but so glad I went back down here. It’s even better than I remembered. This place flies under the radar. It’s a real treasure and the service and ambiance is well above most other places in Portland. The food is great and wine pairings spot on! John knows his menu and wines so well that we just leave it up to him. Small, cozy and adult oriented. This is a great place to impress a date or bring an out of town guest.
