Wonderful! The mussel appetizer and braised short ribs are absolutely delicious.
As always, our dinner was a wonderful experience, starting with a warm welcome by the owner John. Everything after that was just as great-the description of the menu, choice of the wines, the quality of the food and service. This remains our favorite restaurant in Portland. It truly feels like a great little bistro in Paris.
Loved, loved, loved Cest Si Bon! The owner reads the menu to the table. Explains all the entrees, just so special. And the food? Well, it was absolutely delicious. The lamb cheeks were so good. And our friends ordered the Short Ribs, done to perfection! We had just a special time at this restaurant. It was one of the best dinners I’ve had in Portland in a very long time. We were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back! Good job, John!
Always a delight. John is the consummate host. Every time we go, he has amazing wines to try, and new gastronomic variations , as well as impeccable preparations of the old standbys. The perfect venue for romance, celebration, and experiencing joie de vivre.
An intimate setting, attentive service, a well-curated selection of wine and interesting French-influenced food. All at reasonable prices. What's not to like?
How have I not been here before! Amazing and wonderful.
Always great food and service
pleasantly surprised....most enjoyable first visit
I had not been here for a while but so glad I went back down here. It’s even better than I remembered. This place flies under the radar. It’s a real treasure and the service and ambiance is well above most other places in Portland. The food is great and wine pairings spot on! John knows his menu and wines so well that we just leave it up to him. Small, cozy and adult oriented. This is a great place to impress a date or bring an out of town guest.
Why did it take me so long to try this place? It's just off the main drag, around a corner and tucked into a small space, but well worth the effort to get a table. I came with a friend before an Imago show and it couldn't have been more convenient. The dishes were unusual combinations of ingredients that produced wonderful flavors. We shared in order to try more items. Everything was exceptional - Muscovy duck confit, wild sea scallops, cheese bon bons and mussel tartine were tasty to the last drip. It was just as good the next day as leftovers. Eager to return.
What a hidden gem. One could easily drive by and never see the restaurant - and that would be a shame. The food is outstanding and the John, the owner, is so incredibly personable.
Bring back the original duck confit with the potatoes. This was to die for!
Great night out! Great food and amazing service. Always look forward to our next dinner.
John is always so gracious and he really enjoys providing wonderful, service and wines! Thanks John. You are our go to fav restaurant in pdx
Amazing service from staff,esp.John. Our first experience was very memorable. Food was great. Thank you!
We had a very rude and unprofessional server. Everything else about the restaurant is great.
As usual, a wonderful dinner with fantastic service. It’s definitely not rushed. You feel as if the table is yours for the evening and you can savor every course. Fresh, seasonal ingredients are always on the menu as well as time-tested favorites. Can’t wait to go back again!
John and the team at C'est Si Bon never let us down. We come in from Vancouver about once a year before the basketball game and are always treated to the best wines and seasonal food offerings.
I only wished I lived in Portland and could visit more often.
Amazing little French Bistro. Intimate setting with stellar service provided by the owner himself, one server and one chef. The creations they pump out of that tiny kitchen are nothing less than impressive. I think we had just about everything on the menu, and it was all gone by the end of my friend's birthday dinner. Thank you C'est Si Bon! for making his birthday a special night to remember.
Good well-priced wine. Food was well prepared and interesting. Cozy vibe. Will definitely return.
Excellent all around. We prefer to sit at the bar and did so at C’est Si Bon. John the owner was there and waited on us. It’s always a great sign that you will get the best the restaurant has to offer when the owner is present.
Great selection of wines and we tasted several before choosing a great Chardonnay. The menu had great selections but not to many keeping the whole dining experience simple. Of course John provided great recommendations that we went with and were so delicious.
We typically have a “go to” restaurant nearby because it’s just easier. However, I wanted to change our dining routine up a bit and picked what appeared to be a hole in the wall little restaurant. So glad I did! Big hit with my date and all she talked about on the way home was how much she (and of course we) enjoyed the whole experience.
So amazing! Great food, wonderful personal service from the owner, and great value for the quality of food. I would eat here all the time if I could.
Fabulous food, great variety of wines, incredibly friendly service - it’s such a treat to spend an evening here!
Amazing experience! Quaint, well constructed menu, great flavor profiles. A must for white burgundy lovers.
We have been enjoying the fabulous Portland restaurant scene for the past 40 years, and this is my favorite restaurant in Portland. It reminds me very much of some of the wonderful, small places in Paris. The owner is very welcoming, friendly, and helpful. The wine list is amazing for such a small intimate place. The owner is very knowledgeable regarding his wines by the glass or bottle. The wines by the glass are all excellent. Sometimes we don't bring a bottle or order a bottle, we just cruise through the available glass-pours. It's fun to do that when I am confident everything we order will be good. That goes for the food too. The menu is small, but literally every item is good to excellent. We have been there over a dozen times, and we have NEVER had a negative food experience. This is a real gem. We can't always get a table, but when we do, we are guaranteed it will be a treat!
This is my 3rd time having dinner and, once again, it was fabulous. The owner is welcoming and knowledgeable. The menu offers a great variety that is wonderfully prepared and reasonably priced. Hidden gem!
Delicious food prepared and served by people who take the time to interact with customers and help guide menu selections. Relatively quiet setting, which is a godsend given the frenetic levels of noise throughout Portland restaurants these days. Interesting wine list with reasonable prices.
Absolutely wonderful dining experience. The food was fabulous, the wines extraordinary, the service attentive but not overbearing, the ambience lovely. Can't say enough good things about this gem of a restuarant.
The food was wonderful and service was prompt. The owner was engaging. I will definitely be back.
ONE OF THE MOST OUTSTANDING MEALS I HAVE HAD IN A LONG TIME. LOTS OF PERSONAL ATTENTION AND THE STAFF AND MANAGEMENT MADE SURE TO MAKE US FEEL WELCOME AND APPRECIATED.
Delicious food and amazing service in a lively and cozy space. Bold flavors in food and great wine options. Perfect for a fun evening out!
Small and quaint bistro. We had an early seating and chose the fixed price four course meal with wine pairing. The food and service were excellent, but the wine pairing made it extraordinary. A little pricey but very reasonable for Fine dining.
Always a pleasure over a number of visits. Outstanding wine list and guidance from the host. Wonderful French-inspired food.
Simply perfection. Amazing food, wonderful service, romantic atmosphere. I can't believe that this place is still under the radar in Portland. One of our favorites!
Great tasting menu and wine pairing! Nice find across the river.
Bravo! From the moment we arrived we were treated like family. My wife and I had the 4 course wine food pairing dinner. It was amazing. The chef is very gifted at crafting a true French meal. The staff were very knowledgeable and caring. This is what service is should be.
Thank you and we will be back!

Every dish was really really good. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I had the most incredible meal here. My waiter was personable and genuinely cared whether I enjoyed my meal. He worked through personal recommendations on wine and my menu. Everything was delicious. The persimmon salad: perfection.
I'd go back all the time if I lived in Portland. If you're in the fence, don't hesitate, just go! You'll be thrilled you did.
John has an encyclopedic knowledge of wine which he gladly shares. The entrees are divine! This place is a real gem.
