'Cesca Ratings and Reviews
The most DIVINE Italian food - really, there's no better meal to be found anywhere in Italy. The chef is extravagantly talented, and his food is served by an incredibly lovely, friendly and customer-focused team. The menu is well-priced, the room is lovely and warm. UWS diners are very fortunate indeed...
The cocktails were fantastic, the wine selection was lovely.....the food was superb! Every dish! The Branzino was to die for. We had a group of 6....everyone loved the experience. What a gem. Live in Bed Stuy and would easily trek back for another meal. Outstanding!!
From the moment we arrived, all aspects of the evening were excellent. Entry staff was immediately attentive; wait staff did all tasks promptly and professional l y.
Food is superb.
This was our second time at 'Cesca: we'll return when we next visit New York.
What a fantastic experience. From the moment we entered we were greeted with smiles and escorted to our table once we surrendered our coats. The service was slow to start but efficient. The food was cooked and seasoned perfectly for us all to enjoy from the salad and seafood appetizers to the fish and steaks for entrees and the delicious selection of desserts including a warm chocolate cake. We are excited to return and look forward to their upcoming Brunch and Bubbles (?) at the end of the month.
Lovely and romantic location for dinner. My spouse and I enjoyed our dinner selections and the service provided by Ian and Ceasar. Their friendly demeanor and quick table side service was appreciated. Our food was delivered in suitable time and spaced appropriately. We were, as always, pleased and plan on attending again soon.
Not one wait staff approached me and my guest for 45-60 mins. Everyone else had their drinks taken and food served and left before we could grab someone and say please help us. Way too noisy, too many birthday songs and they got our drink order wrong as well. The waiter that did finally help us was nice but it was too late. Big disappointment and embarrassing too. I've been there in the past but unsure I'll be returning in the future.
Another 5-Star dining experience at ITA 101. I originally made a reservation for 2, but my husband changed it to 7 and invited some family members to join us for my birthday. I'm so glad he did because we all had such a wonderful time enjoying all of the flavorful dishes that were prepared for us! Between all of us, I don't think there were too many items on the menu that we did not order. We ordered from all courses on the menu, and they were all truly delicious. A flavorful dining experience!
As usual, we had a great dining experience. Please forgive me mom, but the pasta fagioli was the best I ever had. I had duck was phenomenal. The duck was cooked just right, moist and tender which can be difficult to do. My wife had a chicken dish served with broccoli rabe and potatoes which was also exceptional. This is authentic Italian cuisine. Bravo, 'Cesca remains my favorite restaurant!
I Live at upper west side.. We always get together at midtown.. this time I was running out of time so I told my friends to meet up at cesca for a cocktail before we decide where to dine.. we end up staying here as the ambiance was so invited fun and energetic ! Excellent food choices well prepared and superb service ! We felt that we were vacation somewhere in the Mediterranean ... That’s our new hot spot !
Make sure you have a reservation, the place is packed
What a shame...should be so much better than it actually is considering the prices. The waiter doesn't so much as describe the specials, as merely state what it is and say "its great and you will love it". Servers rush you to order, and then you wait. They deliver the wrong food and then replaces the entrée with an unremarkable Bolognese resembling Chef Boyardee. Why can't the UWS have great food and service ? NEVER to return!
GREAT experience! We arrived a little early and we got our table right away. The wait staff helped us with recomendations based on what we felt like eating and drinking. All their recommendations where correct. Highly recommend the place!
‘Cesca is a stunning restaurant with truly amazing food and an impressive wine list! The service is some of the best you will experience in the city and just steps from the Beacon Theater. Make a reservation, you’ll be glad you did!
Once we arrived there was nobody at the reception.... after 15 minutes we could sit down and nobody csme to attend us !! After our claim they said that the only menu available was the Valentines menu at 85 $ per person ( 4 courses) and most of the options where not available anymore.... the managet was alteady dining and again they told us to be hurry because the kitchen was closing .... at this point we stand up and left the restaurant .... obviously hungry.... by the way .... it was raining and we had to wait for a taxi to find other place .... wet
By all means, the best sustainable farm to table restaurant on the upper west side. We absolutely love everything about ‘Cesca! The new GM is super chill. He’s done some good stuff, but the owners have really outdone themselves with the reno and menu change on this place. It’s 110% amazing.
So disappointed that the Cesca we came to enjoy no longer exists. Am i aged out? I don't think so. After dinning there last night on Valentine's Day it's no longer on our list and it really wasnt about the food, well it wasn't as good as always... watery Bolognese, half over and half under cooked steak... it was about the atmosphere and service. We used to enjoy the "warm" feeling room, table cloths, banquets and top notch service. Last nights experiance changed it all. No longer is the room warm and cozy as the new owners seem to feel a need to "brighten" the room and add a disco music soundtrack! The service was mediocre at best...when you have to continually ask for round one of a four course Prix Fixe dinner you know it's going to be trouble. Round one came out with round two. Had to get the attention of servers for drink re-fills, including water and also needed to get the servers attention for the proper eating utensils. What was once a smooth enjoyable great NY dinning experinece turned into a dissapointing evening as we watched "new management/ownership" unsuccessfully try and match what once was. Too many other great UWS options to make a return visit under these circumstances.
We went to Cesca for a Valentine’s Day dinner. I was told on the telephone that I could order off the menu and was not limited to the price fixe. The tune changed when we arrived and they gave us a hard time. I had to order the price fixe and they offered my husband, a vegan, a pasta marinara option but at least did not charge him the price fixe.
What concerned me the most was the quality of the food. It just was not that good. The pasta dish was bland and my salmon was just average though exceptional in the past.
It was not just a matter of a busy night at the restaurant. I learned from a neighbor the same night chatting after the dinner that there is a new chef and my neighbor did not like the food either, and said that he would never return despite Cesca having been his favorite restaurant in the past. Mine too. What a disappointment. They also appear to be modernizing the restaurant and it has lost its cozy touch.
We were promptly seated as per our reservation. Nice Valentine’s Day ambiance. Didn’t know, but probably shouldn’t have been surprised that there was a price fixed menu of $85 which seemed a little high. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. They made one understandable mistake bringing the wrong entree to one person due to 2 entrees having very similar names. Apologized and made up with a free bottle of wine. Will be back again.
