A glass of wine and an appetizer or entree at the bar is perfect for us. Not too much food. Not too much hassle. The bartenders are consistently friendly and helpful. This is definitely our favorite neighborhood "go-to" place. It's great too to take out of town guests for a lovely sit down dinner (only wish the dining room was a bit quieter so we could hear each other talking.)
For the second time in a few weeks, we had dinner at Cesca with another couple. Both times the food was excellent. Both times, we had the same waiter, and he did not provide good service. He got items wrong, and was inattentive. Additionally, we had sparking water, and several staff filled our glasses with regular water, which we had to stop them as they had some sparking water in them.
The next time I have dinner at Cesca, I will ask to be reseated if I am at this waiter's station.
First time dining at Cesca in many years. Sat at a table in the bar area round 8:30 during the recent saturday blizzard. was surprisingly but pleasantly somewhat empty despite saturday night primetime.
Service was okay--our waiter was funny, but a little disinterested. Restaurant was out of lobster ravioli, which my husband had planned on having---evidently they are discontinuing it tho still on menu.
Also did not have the sancerre by the glass listed on menu. Other than that, food was good, tho for $36 I think should receive more than a couple of smallish pieces of branzino, with no sides or accompaniment.
Enjoyed our evening but not sure would rush back as felt kind of pricey for what was served.
Nice place, short walk to Lincoln Center. Service was very good and the place is nice and quiet. Food was good but not great.
Late Thursday dinner with one guest arriving just before closing. Pleasant helpful staff. Very good mixed drinks. Outstanding lamb chops with roasted artichokes. Very enjoyable special pasta. Guests liked tiramisu and chocolate mousse. Have also had a good lunch and earlier dinner at ‘Cesca.
Fantastic neighborhood restaurant.
I’ve given the dining experience at Cesca a poor rating in every category - only because there was nothing lower on the scale. Cesca should not remain open. Over the years, what used to be an enjoyable and delicious dining experience, has become a very very poor excuse for a restaurant. The food was terrible (every course), the service was abominable/non existent and the place has not been properly cleaned or had a ‘sprucing up’ in years. The terrible food arrived after very long waits and much prodding, the orders were not properly prepared and the maitre d’ was less than apologetic or understanding. Definitely will not recommend and will not patronize in the future.
Waited 2 hours for food. Three of the orders were incorrect including one that designated serious allergies which was done incorrectly twice and could have resulted in serious illness . Two other dishes were undercooked . We will never return
My Bronzino was not cooked but they took care of it which that was nice and the waiter with my husbands drink pour water in it I guess it was not a good day otherwise the restaurant is very nice Arianna is good nice bar
Sadly, this is not the ‘Cesca I once knew. First, they were out of the Sancerre wine. Then, they were out of the Tuna Tartar. We sat at the bar. The bartender seemed frazzled and all over the place. Definitely not worth it.
This place was GOD AWFUL. I am one to do my research before I eat at a new place, and I went with all of the glowing reviews ‘Cesca, ebut I don’t know how in the world it ever received them!! The place was NOISY as all hell, we had a new waiter who couldn’t have been more than 18 and was clearly having trouble navigating our table and the two tables on either side of us. I actually felt bad about this, because he should have never been thrown on a busy Saturday night yet. We watched him mistakenly pour water into one man’s mixed drink at the table to our left, and then send out entrees two minutes after the appetizers for the other couplets our right, much to their dismay. My husband ordered a Grey Goose on the rocks with a few olives....normal, acceptable presentation for that drink is three olives on a toothpick set across the drink; his came with one olive haphazardly thrown in the vodka from the bartender. The tables around us were promptly given bread shortly after sitting down, but we never did. I asked our server for some and he said it was coming, but alas - it never did. Our appetizers were out in less than five minutes; a clear sign they were trying to turn tables quickly. We spent $44 each on our entrees; my husband ordered lamb chops and I ordered the steak with truffle fries. My husband’s lamp chops were cold, and my steak looked like a piece of roadkill with some sort of brown gravy sauce strewn across the top. Groups of people continued to come in in droves as we sat through our meal, and I still cannot figure out why. This restaurant needs a complete revamp of both their menu, and more notably, their management.
Service was horrendous.
This place used to have excellent food and good service. No more. 15 minute wait for anyone to come by for a drink order, had to ask for water and bread, items on regular menu unavailable with no explanation or served differently than described (a kale Caesar salad was made with spinach). For the very high prices they charge, it’s unacceptable. Will not return.
The host was very rude and would not acknowledge I even had a reservation. Used to really enjoy this place. Won’t go back.
The food was as good as the Instagram pictures that inspired the reservation. Scallops and PorkChop were prepared as if we were the only one there. Started by sharing the tuna and beet salad. The waitress could have helped the experience by pulsing those out instead of together. We would have had more wine! Great tastes and flavors. Tiramisu desert would make the most discernible New Yorker happy. No lemon rind for the espresso was either and after thought or part of the volume going out. Great reshow meal with the right energy you would expect from this neighborhood on the WestSide!
Nice restaurant, good food , good service and not rushed. I just found it to be very loud.
Very nice restaurant. Close to the Beacon where we were seeing a show. Food prepared beautifully . Great service
Food was very mediocre. We were 4 people and had 3 main courses. Chicken was dried out and neither pasta had any taste. Place is pretty but if you want decent food, this isnt it.
We love ‘Cesca for our local family and friends place to enjoy great food and hospitality on a regular bases. This particular afternoon, the host, waiters (Lefteris and Tiara), bus person, and kitchen chefs were exceptionally accommodating to our needs. The food was amazing!!!
Had dinner tonight with friend at really hip Cesca Italian restaurant had a great fun night with staff and my date. We really loved the food I had the lobster ravioli which was delicious and Caesar salad was excellent. And cheesecake for dessert which I love! Thanks Cesca for making my start of 2020 on the right track!! Will be back soon!!! Happy new year!
We sat in the bar area. Wonderful way to spend the evening.
Extremely disappointing. Had not been there since ownership changed apparently two years It is a totally different
operation. The quality of the food was poor. The prices certainly did not reflect the lacking quality of
food, presentation, service professionalism etc.
The general manager represents true hospitality and was a very Gracious host and professional. Food was outstanding great steak cuts, nice char and scallops are to die for.
The food is consistently good at this neighborhood retreat. This visit was on New Year's Day evening so the menu was reduced in scope, a good idea since the usually busy bar and dining room was reduced to just a half dozen or so tables making for a very quiet and enjoyable dinner.
OK, the service was dysfunctional, but it was New Years Eve and we didn't care; we were going to have a good time, no matter what. Anyone who expects flawless service in NYC on New Years Eve is out of their minds. We had a quiet table near the street, so that helped. Food wasn't perfect, but tasty...and, again, who cared?! The lobster bisque was heavenly. We let the staff and manager know how much we understood the chaos they were under, but I gather other patrons weren't so understanding. Good lord, we're all lucky to be alive, and we're getting rid of that garbage Trump and his awful family in 2020. HAPPY NEW YEAR !!
Good location , Nice Chic dining area. Hostess and wait staff were friendly, informative. Food presentation was lovely to look at. Flavors were on target. Nothing spectacular , overpriced for what’s being offered.
Limited menu New Years Eve but enough of a selection except there could have been more appetizers and desserts.
Great food - lousy service. But it was New Year’s Eve. It’s usually better!
Attentive Staff, excellent food. Highly recommend
Sadly they were out of the lobster ravioli and particular Scotch husband requested
good restaurant but the reduced nenu on christmas day didn’t have enough choices
Great service! Awesome lunch deal. The food was very good but there could have been little improvements - side of lemon with the friti, choice of sauces, the friti wasn’t terribly hot, the salmon came with different side than was on the menu. But I wouldn’t hesitate about going back.
Disappointing meal. Skip it. There are so many other fantastic options...especially for what this cost! Server didn't know the menu. Overcooked bland uninspired food. Hostess couldn't be bothered to take coats. This place peaked years ago and now needs a remake. We won't be back.
Great service and atmosphere. But in my opinion, food has gone a bit down hill. Steak that was ordered medium was very undercooked. Very red in the middle! Fennel salad was overbearing.
Service was so poor that I would never, despite the quality of the food, subject anyone I care about for such treatment. High end pricig requires at the MINIMUM decent service. You won't see me ever again.
Eaten here many times over the years. It has declined measurably.
Food was good and came out quickly. The service always is disappointing and this time was no improvement.
Mushroom ravioli a must.
The food was not up to the prices. Very bland Bolognese, disappointing. Beet salad was mediocre. Second time there; first time they sold me a lesser vintage wine than I had ordered with no adjustment of the price. It is pretty inside, but quite loud an cramped if you’re at a two top. There are better choices for the price.
Excellent service with our waiter Manny as well as awesome food. Would highly recommend.
