Two couples met at Cesca to enjoy an infrequent get-together. The restaurant was welcoming and we were able to have a quiet table in the very back of the restaurant, which was great for our hard-of-hearing husband’s. The service was good although, for whatever reason, there were quite long gaps of time before we were actually waited on and also between courses. Our varied meals- salmon, duck, octopus and salads were very good and the wine list was nice. Fortunately we had a lot to talk about so the waits were tolerable for us and we enjoyed our evening ou.
Food and service were very good.
Do the tasting menu if u can! Amazing food and drinks!
It was delicious
And the staff was very professional
wonderful restaurant. Ambience, decor was lovely. Service was excellent; food outstanding. What more could one ask for?
Sad to say it’s past it’s sell by date. Food was mediocre at best and prices are full fare. Service was excellent
We both had Bolognese which is superb. The wine, Super Tuscan, by the glass was mediocre at best. However the service was amazingly bad. They forgot to dress my wife’s beet salad and when we notified one of the staff they brought Caesar dressing. While still eating our appetizer our waiter asked whether we’d like the chocolate soufflé and we both said yes. Then as soon as the cleared our salads the waiter returned with our deserts having forgotten to bring our main course.
Very slow service! In-attentive waiters.
Excellent food and service.
At the risk of creating competition for my seat at the table, Cesca is amazing. The food is excellent, the service is terrific and they let you sit, even if your whole party is not there. In fact, they'll let you order wine and food too! It's perfect before performances at the Beacon as they're quick and accommodating. We had excellent chicken and fabulous brussel sprouts and lovely wine options. The manager dealt quickly with a small problem and the staff were exceptional. Really. A wonderful meal. We'll be back!
Absolutely delicious food. Loved the ambiance. Classy
Amazing! I love the atmosphere, very good if you want to have a nice chat with friends or someone special. The service was impeccable. Will definitely go here again.
Got the brunch sandwhich which was subpar.
Waiter mixed up our fries.
The carbonara was ok not great
The ambience was nice and staff friendly
I had not gone since Tom Valenti left. I was pleasantly surprised it was still terrific. It was also relatively quiet. A wonderful thing in a restaurant.
Miss the $29 lunch special. They have another, but it’s different.
Lovely restaurant, very calm and casual atmosphere. Food is plentiful and delicious. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Meal is served at a relaxed pace.
'Cesca was wonderful! The service was wonderful - the food was absolutely delicious and the suggested wine was amazing! My husband absolutely loved the Branzino! It was light and flaky, seasoned perfectly and served with a light lemon oil sauce that complimented it very well. My pasta bolognese reminded me of our most recent trip to Italy. It was rich in flavor and the pasta was cooked al dente - just the way I like it! Be sure you save room for dessert - the tiramisu is so worth it!
Disappointing. Did not like my main course and the waiter took it away without even inquiring as to why I didn’t eat it no matter offering to substitute something else. The rest of the food was OK but less good than on my last visit.
First time guest. Veal chop was great as was partner’s pasta. Shared an excellent tiramisu for dessert. Little pricy but we will be back.
The service is so stuffy you would think you’re in a Michelin place. What type of Italian place runs out of bread? Or refuses to serve it?
This WAS one of our favorite UWS restaurants but not anymore. Don't know if the ownership has changed but surely the food and service have, and NOT for the better. They have switched bread suppliers. Their crust tasty bread is gone replaced by a bland, deli-style white bread, very chewy and tasteless, with no crust. The mixed salad came with almost no dressing; we had to ask for it. We like arugula, but usually for $15 you get some dressing. The mushroom Tortelli also came dry and we had to ask for the sauce. That brings to mind the service, which has also declined. We had to continually ASK for everything: water, ice, olive oil, etc. The waiters are inattentive and it's up to the customer to try to get their attention.
The whole experience was horrendous. From the drinks we were served (the cesca—don’t order it) which were awful to the attitude of the waitress, who was perhaps the most surly waitress I have encountered in New York! The meal was very rushed, plates were removed before we were finished. White wine was warm and poor quality. A horrible meal.
Nice that they asked us if we were going to a show - but it made far more sense when we realized how slow the service was. Took asking three times to get my husband a beer and then the server brought the wrong one - when we pointed that out, the server blamed some mysterious third person saying, ‘oh, he brought you the wrong one...’ when it was he who had brought the drink over. (??) Pretty space, but bad cover songs playing throughout dinner. Just a totally unremarkable meal and moderately poor / slow service.
Dinner at Cesca last night was a disaster and it is a shame since it was one of our favorites. From the start there was chaos with wild understaffing and one cook not showing up. We were ignored until 3 separate people came to offer us water within one minute. The waiter then showed up with a drink order which was a problem since I hadn’t ordered a drink yet. We then proceeded to order: a beet salad, dressing and candied walnuts on the side and mushroom ravioli for appetizers. It took a while and they emerged. However the salad was dressed so it was sent back. Expecting only to wait a minute or two I set my hot appetizer aside but the wait to put together greens and beets took forever. Finally the salad reemerged without dressing only to include burrata ( no cheese was on the menu for that salad) for someone who is allergic to dairy. At that point 1 hour and 16 minutes after arriving we picked up and walked out of the restaurant. An extremely disappointing experience not made better by being told how busy they were for graduations that night. Note to Cesca: if you are planning to be so busy get more staff for the night or take less reservations.
New owners have beautifully redesigned the restaurant, and the food is great. Very comfortable, relatively quiet place to have a special evening.
Overall, very solid and well done food. I got the steak which was cooked perfectly, though perhaps a bit over seasoned. The pasta special was outstanding. A nice comfortable atmosphere; a little dressy but not stuffy at all.
‘Cesca is one of my most favorite restaurants on the upper west side. Always a neighborhood favorite, it has increasingly evolved into one of my city wide favorites. The food is amazing - try the mushroom ravioli and artichoke heart salad. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The service is on point and very friendly. I’ve been here many times and have never had a bad experience. Each time is memorable and the owner is gracious and welcoming. I will keep coming back.....
The wine list was outstanding and the food was delicious. The pork chop was done perfectly, the calamari was light and tasty and you've never had pasta until you try their bucatini! Service was outstanding and the entire meal was enjoyable.
Absolutely a delightful dining experience. Claudia found us the perfect table as requested and our waiter Luis couldn’t be more accommodating and pleasant. We arrived very early, the restaurant just getting into the evening dinner crowd. Luis went out of his way give us some time for drinks before we ordered and made sure we got out on time for our show. The menu was varied and whatever we didn’t order, looked delicious on other tables. We had the beet salad and the linguine with clams. The Branzino looked great and will have that next time. Had not been to Cesca in some time. The decor is warm and gives one the feeling of understated elegance. No pretense ...
The new owners deserve applause for it all. Will be on my ❤️list from now on.
Mother’s Day here with the Pulsd was great! I wish they would’ve honored the original menu on the pulsd deal, but they still had great options and provided stellar service!
food good but expensive; service was awful
The food was delicious. The service surprised me. It took about an hour to get out food; any food. Unfortunately, that left no time for dessert. The mimosas were yummy.
Service was abysmal. It was so bad that I don't think I"ll ever eat there again. Too bad, because the food is decent.
The food is excellent. The service was very slow and we had to call the waiter several times to ask when, if ever, our food was coming.
Food and service always good and reliable but really need to sort front of house
They look totally lost because they are
Needs to get sorted desperately
We have been many here many times for dinner always delicious. Today we were there for Mother’s Day Brunch it was a multi generational group sevice and food was perfect
Great food. We'd booked late and were seated by the kitchen. Not sure why that meant we had no tablecloth+candle as all other tables did. And we virtually had to stand up + wave about to have our drinks order taken, get menus and bread. And then the olive oil was squirted onto our side plates using the plastic kitchen oil bottle. Weird. Great food - classic NY lesson on throwing your weight around!!
Waiter was awful. Found out he was being fired the next day from General Manager. Otherwise wonderful meal.
The noise is an issue in the main dining room - if you are in a large party - difficult to hear your neighbor or be heard.
Even came in early.
Generally disappointing - the second time I've come away not satisfied. We were there for brunch but turned out there wasn't a set brunch menu, so it wound up costing much too much. Service was spotty - not professional - same complaint as my last dinner there - food is good
