Haven’t been to Cesca in several years. It was much quieter- empty tables at prime dinner hour- and the food was disappointing. My expensive tuna, not described as a salad, was cold.
Nice meal, good service
Overall a lovely experience. Salmon was cooked well but nothing special. Service was great. A good upscale local restaurant.
Perhaps I have to try 'Cesca's dinner atmosphere to leave a fully informed review, but this one's just for their brunch. For starters, I think brunch is a relatively new concept at this restaurant. However, they seem to have fairly good options. I chose the mushroom ravioli and my boyfriend got the eggs Benedict. The ravioli was quite good, if not a tad bit tough. His eggs Benedict was fine, but the english muffin was soggy. I think I've seen other people complaining about a similar thing - that it wasn't toasted enough. On the side, we ordered truffle parmesan fries. I have to say that absolutely nothing about those fries resembled either truffle or parmesan. That was quite a letdown. Finally, we had bottomless beverages so I had a mimosa and a bellini. I have to say I've had better... Overall, the atmosphere was quite nice and the service was good, although it took a while to get the check while being one of two tables, but I don't think I'd be coming back here for brunch. The food simply wasn't good enough value for the price.
Great chefs menu option
It is lovely to be greeted so warmly by the hostess. The food is delicious and the service is superb.
The noise level is a little high but overall great experience.
This was our second time back to Cesca and I enjoyed it even better than the first. Service and seating were wonderful. We sat in the front of the restuarant which I felt was roomier than being in the back where we sat the last time. Both the food and drinks were all very good. I will certainly be back a third time.
Service was a catastrophe until we gave 'em hell
Noisy in the extreme
Very overpriced some items
we love cesca, but this is the second time i ordered Branzino and once again it was slightly dry and had very little flavor. In Greek restaurants it's always moist and delicious, usually from olive oil and lemons. not sure why cesca gets it wrong.
I wasn't expecting much when I made the reservation, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This is an upscale Italian restaurant, yet not pretentious at all. Great food, wonderful ambiance, and not noisy at all!
Service was excellent including the manager. The brunch was delicious.
The food is awesome so as the service but the ambient temperature was so hot that I've almost fainted. The music was to loud for so few tables with customers. If they change these simple issues is excellent otherwise is unbearable to stay inside.
Honestly, the entire experience was sub-par. The food was tasteless. If I didn’t know better I’d say the regular chef was not there. I never write reviews but it was a disappointment for such a high end restaurant.
The reviews for Cesca and the menu looked lovely. We were looking forward to an exceptional meal. The pears in the Frisée salad were inedible. The pasta which was supposed to be homemade was over cooked and clearly not homemade. The server brought the salt and pepper we requested after we finally finished three quarters of the meal. Our second glass of wine after the entire meal was finished. A diner at an adjoining table sent her steak back three times because it wasn’t cooked well enough. Cannot believe this is an Italian restaurant on the upper west side.
Earlier in the day I had made a 9:00 reservation for two, to follow a comedy show.
Granted, people with no reservations were pouring into the restaurant after the show, it was a madhouse. None of the 3 hostesses were available for 5-10 minutes at a time. They were showing people to tables, serving drinks, etc.
We were not seated until 9:20, forced between the front door and jar amongst the jostling crowd.
We did not get any food at all for 45, and the food that did come was mediocre and forgettable.
The dessert, which we ate near 11:00 was inedible.
I’ll never go back.
Was extremely crowded and disorganized at the front desk. About two dozen people standing around waiting to be taken to their tables.
Once seated, it seemed that the had too few waiters for the crowd and the few waiters there were hustling but it was overwhelming and the couldn’t handle it.
The place is NOISY and Conversation was tough.
Food was good, but not great. I would deal with the noise and tough service if it was better. There are just too many better alternatives to Cesca in NYC.
My husband and I dined here Friday night before a show at the Beacon. It was his Birthday. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. The bar was very busy and we sat in the very pretty rear dining room. Service was excellent throughout the whole meal. Our appetizers were outstanding - we ordered mussels and an artichoke dish both were deliciously prepared and extremely tasty!
We both opted for different fish dishes because we weren’t starving even though a lot of the other options on the menu looked delicious. I ordered the tuna and my husband ordered the scallops. The fish was extremely fresh and prepared perfectly, however the only reason I did not give four or five stars for food is that in both cases the dishes lacked a little punch of flavor. They were both quite bland and needed a little something more whether it was a different sauce or more sauce, but both of us felt they fell a little short of flavor. We politely provided feedback to our waiter we did not send either dish back because they weren’t bad in anyway but just wanted to offer a bit of feedback to the chef. Overall it was a lovely dining experience! I would go back if I’m in that area and try some of the other dishes. Thank you to Luis for taking such good care of us!
Party of 4 in a very tight spot/table. Service was very slow. Portion of fish entree was appetizer size . Left hungry for the price of the bill
Excellent food, attractive restaurant and bar area. Near to the Beacon Theater--perfect for pre or post show dinner.
Just the right place for a pre theater dinner.
Fantastic food and ambience
Fish undercooked (table next to us too), waiter forgot to put in appetizer order, waiter running and rushing, brought next tables refired fish to us. General sense of disorder, lack of commitment to service or management attention.
Cesca is my go-to restaurant when attending a show at the Beacon Theater. The ambience, service and food are outstanding. We were 2 couples, all ordered something different and were completely satisfied. Service was excellent and was aware that we had a show to catch.
We enjoyed a wonderful prix fixe 3 course meal .
Well worth the $49.00 per person.
Great food. Went in on Monday night when they are offering the specials that comes with one complementary glass of wine!
The staff was excellent. From the attentive bartender to the wait staff to the hostess. All were polite and very professional.
Great steak, good service, interesting menu. We will return.
Outstanding classy restaurant. Lovely space, tables not too close together. Food impeccable. Just a bit pricey.
Drinks at the bar
4 courses at the table
Great osso buco
Tried to charge $10 for $8 beer...
Great place to meet friends. The food is excellent. The decor and lighting is well done. The staff is professional.
Great attendance to our request for a quiet table. Much appreciated. Good food, good service and fair pricing for NYC. We will of course continue to return with friends many times in the future.
The food really was NOT good, which is actually hard to find in NYC nowadays. Bread basket has stale bread. Artichoke appetizer was tasteless (unless you count tasting salt as an experience), salmon entree was mushy and bordered on half frozen, and had a thick layer of mayo under, the cannoli desert couldn’t even qualify as a real cannoli- stale shell filled with warm cream resembling nothing of mascarpone. I’ve being to “Cesca” 3 yrs ago and food was superb, what had happened??!!
The service was excellent. Vm enjoyed the food particularly the artichoke starter and also the special sea bass was good too, nicely deboned by the waiter.
I would have preferred to sit in the front section as the back is a little lacking in atmosphere but maybe I will ask next time I am back - which I will be.
I LOVE CESCA!!!!!
Wonderful. Fresh food. Excellent ambiance. Can't go wrong.
Everything was amazing!
This was our first time in this restaurant, but certainly won’t be the last .
Loved the ambiance, the staff friendliness, and loved seasonal, ingredient driven menu. Scallops were out of this world good!
Amazing dining experience...Food was excellent, service very friendly and attentive...Panayotis the manager was very accommodating and pleasant...We will definitely be coming back
Food was exceptional, Service was impeccable!
Great spot for some real hearty Italian food!
