'Cesca Ratings and Reviews
The food at this place has really taken a turn for the better. The plate presentation and flavors are wonderful! We enjoyed our fish (salmon and Bronzino) and the salad were quite refreshing (Kale and Beet salads), cappuccino and earl grey tea was the perfect pairing with the pumpkin cannoli and cheesecake. The bottle of white suggested enhanced the dinner. All in all a fantastic experience.
Great place to go on a date. We weren't rushed, the staff was courteous and cautious. They timed their table visits well and were quick with their visits. Had amazing warm bread with evoo to dip, steak and ravioli after the butternut squash soup and finished it off with a panna cotta and apple crisp. All top notch. The upper west side finally has a decent spot to eat!
Yes, yes, yes! FINALLY fine Italian dining done right. The new look and improved kitchen are amazing. The service, drinks and food - top, top, top! You must try the scallops! Holy, holy... The list of wines could take you a while unless you know what you're looking for. Martinis are the way to go! Crisp, cool and refreshing! And dessert? Chocolate lovers dream - Royal log. OMG and then some.
Was celebrating a birthday. Put that in the notes and called the day of to remind them to bring a dessert with a candle and they still didn’t. Ordered drinks which came after our appetizers. Also ordered a bottle of wine which came after our main meal. Overall was not great service. Wouldn’t do another dinner here anytime soon.
Place has great steak and fish selection. Very fresh. Cooked to perfection. Enjoyed the med rare with a nice char from their grill. I was watching them. Not much of a sweet tooth at all but their tiramisu was very good. Service was good overall for being very busy.
What a magnificent restaurant on the UWS! My husband and I enjoyed our meals and were pleased with the attentive and courteous service. It was quite amusing watching the whose who dine around us. Everyone seemed to be very happy and enjoying their food. We will gladly visit again soon. Our new UWS spot.
What a fabulous experience. Stumbled upon this little gem before our show at the Beacon. WOW, WOW, WOW! Delicious food, fantastic service, great vibe. Worth the trip uptown!! You must try the Fritti! The fish was DELICIOUS and the Tagliatelle was a home run! Cheesecake was creamy and cold - just the way it should be! Love love love you 'Cesca!
Came in with my buddy for a quick bite. Beer selection was superb. Bar vibe was great - it was packed. The apps we ordered were really good - the oysters were cold and fresh. The butternut squash soup hit the spot. Steaks and pasta left us full but there was room for dessert and that was a score. Service good, waitress cute and attentive.
Right on! My girlfriend thinks I'm a genius for finding this place! It's been around for years but something cool has happened. The place is more hip, yet still offers the same menu that favors Italian flavor...and it's all good! The music was great, the service was spectacular and the food was stellar. Steak + Oysters = AMAZING. You don't want to miss this place if you're on the Upper West.
Service was a complete disaster. Ignored for far too long once seated. Waiter would disappear for very long intervals. At times, the dinning room has no staff visible to help customers. Ordered a bottle of wine that never arrived. When we asked for bill, the waiter realized he forgot and asked if we wanted it then. Food was good but service detracted horribly from the experience.
Somewhat disappointed this time. Service was so-so. Had to flag someone down for water. Martini was not chilled at all, I needed to add ice cubes. Brussels sprouts were pathetically small and super fried. Salads are boring and my wild salmon was underwhelming with little flavor.
Place was mobbed for a Monday night which was a nice surprise. The bar had a good vibe and the drinks were great. Sat after about 10 minutes wait and service was attentive and quick. Kale salad, NY Strip steak with brunt brussel and the cheesecake. All satisfying and delicious.
Partner enjoyed the soup, halibut and royal chocolate log (interesting story). Fine dining on the upper west side, 5-stars.
My friend and I split the calamari, I thought it should have been crispier. My friend that a marinara sauce would have been better than the little bit of Olive oil and herbs. I had the halibut, good portion and cooked to perfection. My friend had the linguine with clams. He was disappointed in the amount of clams and their size. So I gave him a third of my halibut. Bread was kind of eh. So overall oK but won’t go back before the Dylan concert.
Such a beautiful place to enjoy a special moment with my mommy. She LOVED the ambiance and service. She couldn't stop raving about the food and how delicious it was. She loved flirting with the service staff - she's still got it at 83! It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. Cheers to 'Cesca!
Place is clean with a new look. New chef brings attention to food that seems to please. We enjoyed our dishes - you need to try the veal chop! Desserts were perfect and the coffee was reminiscent of a cafe in Italy. Heavy pour on the drinks didn't hurt either! Service was very attentive.
Flirting with success. This place was a score for my blind date! The bar had a great vibe so we enjoyed getting to know each other over some delicious drinks. Drinks led to dinner and that was superb! This place spares no expense with its quality of food. We shared a dessert and it was perfect - light and fluffy tiramisu. Coming back with friends to enjoy this little spot again soon!
Superb wine selection. Great service. It was a bit noisy for my date and I - the place was very busy but what do you expect on a Saturday night? Albeit, we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 course meals. Soups, salads, entrees and desserts all delivered in a steady stream and perfectly cooked and plated. This is a great find if you're on the upper west. Good date night spot.
Perfect place for a first date. Food was amazing - must try the duck! Skin was crispy and delicious. Service was pretty good especially because they were super busy. Had a stellar bottle of wine too! If we are still together next year this would be a great place to have an anniversary dinner! LOL Will be back again soon...
Fun night out with a college friend resulted in an amazing dinner - food was delicious - must try the ravioli and chocolate log. Bartender made some whiskey mixer that was perfect for the sudden change in weather. Place was max capacity, music was good, service was great!
Something has changed. This place has evolved for the better. It's brighter and more alive, the music sets the best vibe, the food was superb, service great and the bartender made my drink spot on. The butternut squash soup is the perfect starter. We enjoyed the artichoke appetizer and the fritters. My steak was cooked to perfection and my partners halibut was out of this world. There was barely any room for dessert but we pushed through and ordered the pumpkin cannoli. Hello, hello, hello Cesca!
Excellent food. We shared perfectly cooked halibut and a unique and delicious order of goat cheese and spinach ravioli. For appetizers we had a beet and goat cheese salad and grilled calemari. Even the cappuccino was among the best I’ve had. Very pretty atmosphere with good space between tables. We lucked out with a corner table, which was especially quiet. I noticed excellent opportunities for private small group dining in side rooms.
Wonderful place to cozy up in on a day like this... the feel when you walk in was great from beginning to end. The service, food, drinks, desserts, all fantastic. Bronzino was perfect. Beet salad was delish. Steak was cooked to his liking and had a great char from the grill. Ummm, can you say pumpkin? You need to try the cannoli and cheesecake - both pumpkin! Will def be back before the season is over, can't miss another serving!
What a wonderful experience. The restaurant was busy, yet the servers were very attentive to our table. Water was constantly replenished, they brought us delicious bread with the most amazing olive oil I've ever had. The food came out in a timely manner and was absolute perfection. A manager of the establishment suggested a fantastic bottle of wine (we enjoyed two). Dessert was heavenly. A true upper west side gem.
I have been going to Cesca since it opened - sometimes 2 to 3 times per week. Sadly, after my recent experience, I will not return. The restaurant has changed ownership and the new owners have destroyed my favorite NYC restaurant. On November T, I was meeting a business colleague. The restaurant wasn’t particularly busy on that night.
The reservation was made in my name and, inexplicably, we were seated at different tables. Despite my repeated requests and assurances that my guest had not arrived, I got up and searched the restaurant and found her over 30 minutes later. It then took 30 minutes to get any service. We placed our simple order - 2 plates of ravioli. When it finally arrived, it was stone cold and inedible. It took another 10 minutes to get our server’s attention. She offered to replace the order. 30 minutes later, 2 plates of ravioli arrived. By then we had lost our appetite and left. This was perhaps the worst dining experience I have had in a decade.
