One of the best restaurants on the UWS, and certainly one of the best Italian cuisines. It was a quiet summer night the last time we went, so easy conversation. Can sometimes be noisy when bustling. Standouts: fungi stuffed pasta, cannolis and pana cotta with raspberry couli. Molto buono!
Fabulous Restaurant Week meal! Highly recommended, superb food and stellar service.
Great experience at 'Cesca! The music was overwhleming at first but with a glass of wine, it truly fit the mood. The food was delicious! I LOVED the scallops and my husband couldn't stop raving about the pork chop - cooked perfectly. Save room for dessert - the Panna Cotta was outrageous. Can't wait to get into NYC again...
The food was perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious and the staff were all amazing! Couldn’t be happier :)
Charming place, excellent food and service. We made another reservation
Delicious food. The kitchen had a problem so the service was slow. However, they reduced the amount of the tab to make up for it!
Food was delicious. Service was horrific. Noise level was difficult for our elderly companions.
We arrived early for our dinner reservation and wound up staying and eating at the bar. It was still Happy Hour so we started off with wine and oysters. Lazarus, the bartender was very helpful in answering our questions and recommending the wines. We ordered off the Restaurant Week menu; the truffle pasta, fried cauliflower, duck breast, and sea bream were all very good. The restaurant is comfortable and has good energy. We'll be going back.
Always good. Friendly and welcoming. Noise level good for NYC where most restaurants are very loud. Tables spread out so one is not sitting on top of others.
Nice, quiet, neighborhood venue with well dressed patrons. Wait staff was excellent and the cocktails well made. Cant wait to go back again.
Great ambiance, service, setting, food. Food was fresh. Staff was attentive without being intrusive like many are. Variety in atmosphere, fun bar area, quiet areas for more intimate conversation and area for large group too.
This was a Restaurant Week brunch. The food was good, although the hollandaise on my eggs benedict was a little on the sweet side. Here's a strange thing to complain about: the portions were too big.
As always, Cesca doesn't disappoint. It' my go-to place on the UWS for a nicer, casual dinner. It was restaurant week and the options were great. We shared buratta and fried cauliflower--wonderful. My friend ordered the pork chop and I had the branzino. Both were delicious. The waitstaff is friendly and attentive, but not overwhelming. This time, I made a reservation through Open Table and indicated it was for a birthday. Without asking, the dessert came with a streamer candle. Definitely recommend!
Amazing food. Waiter was a little distracted
The service was nice, waiter attentive and food above average. Portion size exceptional. The choices gave you enough variety to choose from. No upcharges which was a plus. I have eaten here twice and plan on my next return. Overall extremely satisfied
Very inconsistent. We were there to celebrate two family birthdays. The atmosphere is very nice and tables spaced nicely. The restaurant week menu was very extensive. The food was inconsistent - I ordered the duck medium and it came out rare. Most items were very good. Service was inconsistent as well, particularly towards the end of our meal.
Elegant Italian restaurant in New York Upper West side, near JCC, with classy menu and high prices. Good for a special celebration.
Excellent every time we went except for one Sunday it was a bad meal otherwise we love this place💕
I can't figure out what is happening to service in restaurants lately....we were sat by the host, and it took a good 10 minutes for anyone to come over and knowledge us, and the time between courses was long as well...not very attentive. The restaurant noise level was very high and hard to have a conversation. One of us ordered the veal, which came to the table raw, which meant the other person in the party had to eat alone and then when the new veal dish came "that person ate alone". There was a woman(who I think was the owner)..came over once to make sure the veal was cooked correctly and then just keep watching us from a table near by, we would have hoped that there would have been some compensation, or a comp'ed dessert...or even a "good night" when we walked right by her. I came here because of the great reviews(and some bad) that I read online...and this would be my review.
We had a delicious dinner at Cesca.
We chose the pre theatre menu as we were going to a show at the Beacon Theatre. I highly recommend, service was excellent and our food was amazing!
A massive surprise, the main reason we went as it was close to our hotel. This restaurant was very good value, the service was good and you could hear your partners voice. A very big YES
Met friends for afterwork dinner. Took advantage of the great restaurant week offering. Had a great meal. I had the pork chop with broccoli robe, my friend had the grilled fish with eggplant. Both were delicious. The cauliflower tempura appetizer was incredible.
To be honest, a total failure of service. The food was ok, but the service was unacceptable.
Two words. Steak & Oysters.
Had a wonderful business dinner with my partner at 'Cesca.
The atmosphere was lively and the music was great!
We were seated behind a pillar in the bar area and evidently that made us invisible. The server had to be flagged down and we saw him exactly twice, once to order and once to pick up the paid bill. Though we requested the wine list it never arrived so we settled on glasses from the menu, only one of those arrived. We had to ask for bread from the woman filling our glasses with water and it was the host who did most of the service for our table because his was the only eye we seemed to catch. Miserable, we'd never go back which is a shame since we're in the neighborhood.
I live in the neighborhood- and Monday was my third visit in several months-- and on all three occasions have had problems with service.\
On the first two evenings the service was really poor- waiter kept "disappearing
Monday evening- we had ordered a drink- were sipping them-had been at the table for maybe 15 minutes and the waiter kept pushing us to order
The restaurant was not full
Awesome Italian restaurant for dinner and for brunch every weekend!!!!i love the cocktails, food but I love and the amazing deserts!!!very good service!!!!thank you for the amazing experience!!!i love cesca
Buena comida y buen servicio
Solid, reliable Italian cuisine with increasingly rare respectful, mature service. Servers are engaged. Pasta specials are great. Seasonal seafood risotto special was great! Fantastic unique cannolis!
The kitchen was overwhelmed and the food took 1 1/2 hours to be served
We are not going back
Very slow service had to chase down server. Told him we neded to get to a show at Beacon and still waited awhile to get check
Food and service was outstanding. Going back again and again.
Love this elegant place. Had one bad experience with a server but the restaurant was on it immediately. So grateful that I can go back to enjoying this special restaurant.
Pasta was cooked correctly, not soggy. Fried calamari was too greasy. Waiter was not attentive. No tablecloths.
We went before a show at the Beacon. Place filled up quickly. Service was very good and timely. Lagged a little bit with the drinks and dessert but overall we got in and out in plenty of time. They must have an issue with their AC though because it was very warm and they had standing fans blowing throughout the restaurant so that is the ambiance stars noted above. . Definitely added this place to our list of places to go to. Really liked it overall
We went with a Travelzoo voucher...great value. Would definitely go again.
We were looking for a place by the hotel Beacon on the upper west side. Found Cesca, checked out the reviews.
Everything was wonderful. Friendly hardworking staff. Food was delicious and reasonable for nyc
Everything was as I would have wanted it to be: a superb (and complimentary, for my birthday and because I’m a member of their “ club”) bottle of Tuscan wine, excellent food (I had frito misto and a very fine cod special), professional and intelligent service and a warm but elegant atmosphere. My only suggestion is that the ice water be kept icy; ours was tepid, but the busboy immediately brought ice when asked.
Wonderful dining experience. The food was superb. Salad was crisp and delicious with a fantastic cheese topping. Steak was cooked perfectly to a medium rare. Sides were large portions and enough to share. Save room for the panna cotta! OMG....
Service and food was great. Enjoyed very much.
