Cerulean - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
Met up with family and friends for dinner before the big ten championship game. Looked on open table for reviews to pick a nice restaurant and we were not disapppointed. The BEST salmon I have ever eaten!! Others in my group ordered the sea bass and pasta and all were delicious. Friendly service as well! If we ever get back to Indy we will return.
We visited Cerulean for my friend's birthday and had such an incredible time! The food was very different but tasty and the service was impeccable. Cerulean is an EXPERIENCE - from the atmosphere to the creative cocktails and main dishes, it is something you enjoy from start to finish with pleasant surprises around every corner! Our cocktails and the wine that was ordered were gushed over. The cheese board we started with was such a delight. Every entree was out-of-the-box but delicious and filling.
If you plan on going, be sure to leave room for their amazing desserts as well!
Came here for a dinner with some colleagues while in Indy on business. I saw reviews on OpenTable and Yelp and thought it would be good experience. When we got there, I was worried it was a mediocre hotel restaurant as it was literally in our hotel. Boy was i wrong! The food was amazing and everything was delicious. Also, a couple of my colleagues are really into craft cocktails and specifically Old Fashioneds so it was a pleasant surprise to see all the twists on the Old Fashioned that they had on their menu. Don't be fooled by the size, the drinks are strong! The corn and truffle ravioli was outstanding and we all wanted more. All of the appetizers, entrees and desserts were noteworthy. The ambiance was great as well. Highly recommend.
So happy a friend recommended Cerulean to us; were visiting from Chicago and has such a wonderful dining experience, opting for the extremely reasonably priced 10-course tasting menu ($95 per/person) and pairings ($50 per/person - mostly wine but some additional beverages). Attractive space and an upscale yet very comfortable ambiance.
Our primary server Jamie was outstanding; so personalable and took great care of us throughout the evening; every other staff member we encountered was also warm and friendly - the front-of-the-house really enhanced the overall dining experience. The restaurant also did a commendable job accommodating a couple aversions we mentioned at the onset of the meal; we appreciated this flexibility and their desire to ensure we had a lovely evening.
The tasting menu was a thoughtful progression featuring creative Contemporary American / Asian fusion cuisine. The meal got off to an excellent start with an amazing pork belly bun. Throughout the evening the star ingredients shined with tasty sauces, spices and accompaniments that enhanced rather than overpowered. Ingredients appeared to be fresh and high quality and dishes were consistently well executed. The meal ended on a high point with a duo of phenomenal desserts.
Compared to other extended tasting menus we have enjoyed, this was one of the best values factoring in number of courses, ingredient quality, creativity, execution and portions (which were perfect - left completely satisfied, but comfortable). The beverage pairings were quite fun and also enhanced the dining experience; approximately nine different pours (also the perfect portion, enough to enjoy, but not leave too tipsy). Loved some of the wines.
Thanks Cerulean for such a wonderful evening; definitely plan to return next time we are in town!
Asked our waiter to pick a cocktail for me. It was delicious as were the cocktails chosen by the others in my party. Had a lovely amuse bouche from the chef. A unique and very tasty salad followed. I had the waiter help me choose my main course and was not disappointed. My pasta was perfectly cooked and proportioned well. My Husband's pork chop was incredible! The others at our table had salmon. It was also really good. The sides, a roasted cauliflower dish, and crispy brussel sprouts, had all of us clamoring for more! We enjoyed a nice Tempranillo red with dinner as well. We even ordered 2 desserts (something we don't usually do) A root beer float, and another "waiter's choice"- a chocolate, corn, thing with tortilla pieces, and a citrus touch as well. We left happy with full bellies!
Part of our group arrived early, and meet up in the bar. Splendid whisky selection, knowledgeable bartenders, as a great drink called The Water Malone. Once our group was fully assembled, we moved to the dining room, where we enjoyed great service and food. I will go back!
We had an absolutely spectacular meal here last night. Cerulean is a little outside the main drag of all of the restaurants and activities (but seriously, folks - like an extra 5 min walk) and is well worth planning to visit. It is visually beautiful. The staff were all pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. Most importantly, the food was really some of the best I have had. This restaurant would do well in a food Mecca like New York or LA or Miami; it is not getting by just because it is in Indy. It is truly spectacular and deserving of any accolades it has received. The corn ravioli with truffle butter: out of this world. Cojo salmon: cooked to perfection. The chef clearly knows their stuff. I will plan to return on my next trip to Indy. Really fabulous food. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Fabulous! Cerulean is my favorite place for dinner and drinks in Indy. The menu changes frequently so there is always something new to try. The Branzino was amazing and the Roasted corn ravioli was delicious (and a great vegetarian option). The cocktails were unique and so refreshing. Everything from start to finish was perfect.
Disappointing. The ambiance was great and we had high expectations. Cerulean failed to deliver. The table beside us (with 2 people) received 5 selections/courses before we received any food. We waited 40-45 minutes for our entrées. There was no explanation or checking in, until I caught the eye of our waiter. He then came over and said they were "plating" our food and it would be right out. 10 minutes later, our food arrived. If the food would have been great, we may have overlooked the wait/poor service and communication. It was not. One of the three items (pasta) we ordered was very good. The duck breast was just slightly overdone...so it was good but not great. The other pasta was okay but not great. So, all around, it was not a good dining experience.
We had a group of 9 friends at Cerulean for dinner. Our service was outstanding! I've been to Cerulean a few times with large groups and it's so nice to go to a restaurant willing to divide checks easily. We had amazing cocktails, delicious food, incredible sides (try the fingerling potatoes if they have them!), and decadent desserts! Everything was amazing.
After a discussion with Chris about the options for 'devour downtown' we decided on options that would allow me to walk out the door. The salad ... good god, what a treat. The steak AND salmon without having to tell chef how to prepare these ... brilliant! Two nights in a row in a brand new city that has not disappointed has left this gal a very happy camper. Thank you for the warm welcome and the drink innovations. ❣️
The place was very loud. The food was so so. I tried it once that's enough. My husband thought it was ok also and he's not as picky as I. My husband ordered a desert for his 4th course but it never came but the waiter gave us a menu to pay for 1 we passed payed our bill and left. The bill was $70.00 plus tax payed $100 to be non impressed.
An every changing menu does make it difficult to compare your entre to mine, with one important exception - quality. Great effort to make your dining experience both visually interesting and satisfying your palate. For me the eggplant and chili combination was the surprise of the evening.
We had an absolutely fabulous time celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary at Cerulean. We had the tasting menu with drink pairings and although the price is on the higher end, even for a tasting menu, we felt the experience was well worth it. The 10 courses all built on each other well, with very well balanced dishes and some pretty incredible depth of flavors. Additionally, I am gluten free and they were able to accommodate this with ease. Our server was fabulous and you could tell she was passionate about the chef's cuisine. Overall, we had an amazing time at Cerulean and would highly recommend it to anyone, particularly for a special occasion or if you are looking to impress a special someone! Thanks for an anniversary to remember, Cerulean!
Friendly staff. Pleasant contemporary artsy space. Creative food. Strong on vegetarian. Zucchini fritters a bit dense and mealy but still "fritte". Gorgeous, savory grilled shishido pepper dish with flavorful eggplant purée and tangy red onion vinaigrette. Stunning cocktail with violet pea tea and cucumber. Not your ordinary place. It will engage your tastebuds.
