I love Ceres.
I always order arancinis, duck carbonara, and salted caramel budino.
Service is five stars.
What a lovely evening with friends. We shared dishes and had a leisurely meal. Our server was excellent and very helpful.
We were a large party, and the restaurant was very accommodating, both with our table placement, so that we were in a more private area, allowing us all to easily talk to each other, and with our changing reservation numbers and arrival time.
The food was all delicious and fairly priced. It was a little bit slow in getting to our table, perhaps because we were a large group and all was prepared as it was ordered. Otherwise, it was all good!
Great pasta and good vegetarian options. Super service.
I got laid
Very disappointed with the food. Was expecting much better. Would call it mediocre.
Food was great and our server JT was outstanding!
Food was fair at best; certainly nothing exceptional.
Service was terrible. Forgot our wine and one of our dishes. We were told it’s “too bad, we have a big party in the back”. There are so many better restaurants around, advise skipping this one.
Alan, I cannot find your reservation, so I cannot get to the bottom of this. Can you provide some details on where you sat, who was your server or what you ordered, so we can locate your ticket? The big party in back should have had no bearing on your service. The pizza station was backed up for a bit, but nothing should have negatively impacted your experience. For that I apologize and would like to make it up to you? There is no good excuse for forgetting your food or wine. Apologies.
The service, food and wine were exceptional! Loved the whole experience.
Great deal at the bar, lovely food, great service.
Excellent service, had the same waiter as last time and he was great.
Server was excellent. Really enjoyed the appetizers (mussels and bread) as well as two of our three entrees. Third entree (lobster risotto) didn’t have any lobster. Dessert was were great as well. One annoying thing was when the staff brought out both our appetizers and our desserts, they neglected to bring plates to serve them on and both times we had to ask. But overall a good dinner and we would go back
Meal is good, nothing wrong with anything just not better than good. So many alternatives with this style and price point that the restaurant didn’t stand out from my perspective.
Service was terrible! We saw our waiter right when we were seated and order an appetizer and some drinks. We didn’t see anyone for another 40 minutes. Our food took forever and our waiter tried to charge us for additional glasses of wine that we didn’t even order. Great food and atmosphere but not really worth it with the terrible service. This is Chicago, you can find equally great italian food with better service just about anywhere.
Hi Stephanie We apologize for the service issue you experienced. Your server had to step behind the bar for 15 minutes to help with a drink rush and he miscommunicated to his manager about looking out for his tables. This was an avoidable error and we sincerely apologize for it, you should have received seamless service. The mistake with your bill was just that and we are glad you caught it. We would never intentionally charge for something we didn't provide. Can we make this up to you?
We had a great dinner at Ceres' table, what a charming & beautiful space! Food was fantastic, the puff bread was so simple and so delicious, the herbed butter was such a treat. Preferred our pizza choice to pastas. 🍕🍕 Salads were nice. Quite the selection of wines by the glass & the lemoncillo is not to miss! 🍋🍋 Staff was so friendly, attentive & kind. We came close to closing time & didn't feel rushed. Thank you Ceres' table, we will be back!
Always great great food with the friendliest and most interesting staff in town 👍👍😘
food and ambiance was wonderful!
Our server seemed very overwhelmed...while he was kind, the service was very slow.
Ordered the Restaurant Week special. It was weak to say the least. I expected more for $48. I ordered Brussel sprouts just in case we were still hungry. We were and it was the worst. They were swimming in grease and not fully roasted. We ate them anyway and paid for it the next day. I should have said something that night to management but thought it was just a one-off night and gave them the benefit of the doubt because we had two nice meals there before. However, in retrospect, $170 for two people who left hungry feels just wrong.
Evan and Veronica were great as usual. I continue to like that folks know my off the menu drink order: Tip of the Boot served up
Disappointing visit for restaurant week 2020. Ordered the prix fixe with wine pairing.
The restaurant has amateur misses on the food pacing and the wine pacing (served the second course while the first course wine not finished; wine slow in coming once courses were delivered).
The restaurant was amateur in their food service - food being delivered with no explanation of what was being delivered (and server slow to attend to us even though nearly empty restaurant food on a Saturday evening).
The restaurant has a miss with amateur service. Our server was care-free and not well trained on good service overall. At one point we asked what a food word on the heading of the menu item meant with the server shrugging saying he didn’t know. While we still look perplexed, the server volunteered that it was probably just a googled word they came up with and didn’t even know if it were correct. When we pressed, asking if someone in the kitchen might now, he begrudgingly went to find out. Big sigh.
Overall a disappointing experience. The restaurant was fortunately nearly a ghost town on a Saturday evening — don’t think they could have handled a normal restaurant crowd.
Waited a hour and 15 minutes for the 1st course, couldn't even get drinks brought to the table. Had to leave before all courses were served because after being there for 1 hr 45 minutes I had tickets to an event to attend afterwards. Highly disappointed in the service.
Ceres Table needs better service. I ordered a cocktail, and the bar was literally 8 feet away. The restaurant had few customers, maybe 8 total, and it took more than 10 minutes to bring me my drink. Tasted like there was barely any gin in it and I ordered a martini. Arguably one of the worst drinks I’ve had in a long time. Our friends arrived 12 mins later, and it took the bar again more than 10 mins to bring the same drink.
Burrata and prosciutto appetizer was very good. Throughout the night our server would appear, then disappear for 15 minute periods. I decided that wanted to order a pizza while the other three ordered more traditional entrees. He warned me that the pizza oven was backed up, and my pizza may not come at the same time as the entrees. We advised him to wait on putting the entree orders in and to time it so everything comes out together. Well, lo and behold, 9 mins later my pizza comes out, but not for another 10 mins do the other entrees arrive. Turns out in our minds he didn’t want me to order just a pizza. That sucks.
Overall, in spite of the seafood entree being removed from our bill because it wasn’t good, the pasta dish my friend had and the pasta my wife had were both delicious, as was my pizza. The service, particularly because of our table location, was bad.
I feel that with so many outstanding or adequate Italian options in the area, I will not be back. So disappointing as with a Bib Gourmand, I was expecting big things. Try the far, far, far better Ricardo Trattoria.
Always excellent , wonderful food and delightful staff .. a neighborhood favorite visited once a month 👍👍👍
Great service and food...wonderful wine list and excellent cocktails...would like a bit more vegetarian options
The homemade ravioli with mushroom ragout, the bruschetta, and the roasted Brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious. The excellent service made this a place to return to. Interesting wine list. Highly recommend.
The food is very good here but they were pretty unorganized with the NYE tasting menu. We got the wine pairings and the wine only came out alongside the paired course 1 time. The other 3 times we had to ask our waiter to bring our wine and it would be delayed 15+ minutes from when we got our food. There was also a long delay between each course. 4 courses took almost 4 hours. I've seen other reviews of bad/slow service here which is unfortunate because the food is really good and the wait staff was friendly. If they were to tighten up their service I could see myself coming back here.
Great time on NYE! Thanks Ceres!
New Years....understaffed, undercooked and overpriced
Wonderful food, service and ambiance. Love this restaurant.
One of our favorite meals of 2019. Our branzino was so good and the wine recommendation was affordable and a favorite. Our server was also great. We’ll be back again!
Wonderful service. Mark was awesome. We had some ‘dietary issues at our table and he handled it like a pro!
Ceres' Table is a very welcoming and pleasant space, elegantly lit, with (generally) oldies rock playing (but not too loudly). I really appreciate their $25-trio menu, which will get you a drink, a pizza/pasta, and a dessert for $25. I had the funghi pizza, which was delicious, if a little too salty. My boyfriend had a red sauce pasta (I forget the exact one) which was also great. And their gelato flavors were amazing!
The menu changed from what’s online. The bartender doesn’t know how to make simple cocktails. When we decided we wanted to go someplace else the server took our check, and when she went to cash us out she decided to tell two other employees that we complained about our experience instead of moving with a sense of purpose while we where standing at the front door waiting on her so we could leave.
Mr. Guidry We are disappointed by your review but want to address a few points. 1) our menu is published online and accurate, we are confused by that point. 2) you ordered a "super dirty" martini without specification. You didn't like it, didn't want it remade, and were not charged for it. 3) at your request, your server asked our chef/manager to cancel your food order, comp the cocktail you didn't enjoy and make change for your tab. Your delay in leaving was two minutes. We're perplexed.
We’ll be back! Excellent!
Thank you, Kimberly!
My husband and I love this place. Great restaurant with an outstanding chef.
Thank you, Nancy!
Love this place. Always a great experience.
Wait person good. General flow of food goofy. Lacks coordination. I will not return. Where’s the management? Food good
We loved their carbonara pasta and the pizzas were puffy and delicious. High quality ingredients, simple presentations. And the cocktails looked amazing. We will definitely return!
LOVE Ceres. Delicious homemade Italian, great wines, lovely ambiance. Great neighborhood spot but also worth a drive.
Was a bit odd that the first and second courses all came at the same time.
