Food and service were excellent! Will definitely go back again.
Sorry to say, despite an outstanding waitstaff and pleasant atmosphere, the noise level was deafening! All 4 of us are at the point of needing hearing aids but could not converse because of the loud voices at nearby tables. We skipped dessert because of it. Also, 3 out of 4 of us had the Twisted Lobster Roll and were disappointed in the sparse amount of lobster. Suggest going to the Price Chopper nearby to get an outstanding lobster roll. Enough meat in one roll there for two people, which has probably spoiled us for the Century House one.
Had the Prime Rib Special on Wed. and it was the best prime rib that I have had in a long time. Everything was great...service food...atmosphere! Well done Century House!
For a light super, the onion soup is truly exceptional. The hamburgers are wonderful. The service is great.
I would particularly recommend the meat dishes. We had a NY strip, two filets and a special - the veal chop. We’ve had the prime rib previously. All of the meat was perfectly prepared, very flavorful. For starters, we had calamari (a bit too much batter, dry) and a caprese salad (winter, tasteless tomatoes but creamy mozzarella). Loved the ambiance of the dining room: warm, dark, fire going. Enjoyed the dining experience.
Always a pleasant experience at the century house.
Food is always top notch as well as the service
Best place for the best tavern chips with hot blue cheese sauce and nicely seasoned Prime Rib, Great Restaurant experience. If you like either fine dining or the tavern. It is the best. If you happened to get Bob and Kevin at the bar, they are the best. They are great if you happened to be sitting at the tavern. Very great place for great food, great dining experience, excellent service and a place where they remember you. 5 star
Great food, great service! Prime Rib special was great! Served in 10 minutes!
Overall experience was good. We have eaten here several times and understand that on NYE it can get busy.
Service was ok and for the value food was just ok. My prime rib was a bit overdone and my wife’s filet was underdone.
Great place, visit often. Last time was New Years Eve. Our group of 4 was well taken care of and well feed. will be back soon.
One of my favorite restaurants, when I come to Albany to visit my uncle. I love the prime rib,it’s delicious! My husband had the lobster tails which were so sweet ! I love the lobster chowder, but this time it was a little too salty! I also loved the holiday drink The Yule Mule! Great meal over all! We will be back on our next visit.
Very nice meal, with excellent service by Laurie
Food was very good, their 2 for $22 offering on Sundays was good value, not your usual slimmed down portion you see when there are these types of deals.
John the bartender and and our server, was fantastic.
There’s not much to say except the food was delicious. The dining room is beautiful and welcoming. And our waiter was great. (Wish I could remember his name.)
GREAT!!! Our favorite place in the Capital Region. The service, food and atmosphere is outstanding. They have the best prime rib outside of Texas.
My husband and I go every year before Christmas. Excellent service, good food and nice ambiance. A little crowded for 1:30 but it was the week before Christmas and people catching up for the holiday.. Would not miss it!
I have had many meals here. some with just 2 of us and some with a dinner party. The service is always great and the food is delicious, good quality and portions are more than adequate. Save room for a great dessert!
Every time we go I wonder why it takes us so long to return. I think I have had almost everything on the menu and it is all good and I can't say enough about the service! We have never been disappointed!
Holiday lunch with friends. Room decorated nicely, table by the fire place, nice lunch menu plus specials. Good service. All enjoyed their selection plus very good coffee. Not rushed. Stayed for a couple of hours. Fortunate to have this local, traditional restaurant in our area.
Food is good. Bar drinks are very generous.
Noise level here is always high.
Good food, good service. A little too noisy and I found the salad with salmon add-on a little pricey.
I wish I had looked at portions. I would have split a meal. Great service.
I brought my mom for lunch in December and everything from the ambiance to the Christmas decor to the staff was wonderful. Our waiter was prompt and polite and our lunch was fabulous. In addition, the chocolate mousse was amazing! A five star experience, my mom loved it.
Took people out for Birthday
The Wednesday night prime rib special is a great deal! Absolutely delicious , all for $19.99!
Good food and courteous staff. Relaxing atmosphere any time of day.
Colonial American food with an interesting gourmet flair, even a little on the french side with some menu selections excellent. Very friendly and accommodating wait staff and manager. We have been coming here for 50 years for romantic dinners, family special events and Christmas parties...It is a gem of a restaurant
Realize it was a “holiday” menu but there was no flexibility and server was not attentive. The support staff was more helpful.
Always a very good meal here. Our server was professional and courteous and his helpers were wonderful It is however quite noisy when busy but if you know this to be what you’re going to experience before you get there you will be able to tolerate it better. I hope this business continues its success as it was truly a very good restaurant
A traditional eating spot, this is one restaurant that our group goes to each year around the Thanksgiving/Christmas season.
Our “Go-To” place for lunch. Great food! Great staff!
Although I have lived in this area for 11 years, until last Spring, I had never been to the Century House for a meal, just for "events" in their banquet area. Honestly, I was *never* impressed with it. In April or May a friend suggested we meet there on a weeknight; I was surprised at how much I loved the restaurant given my banquet experiences.
We were looking for someone to go on my birthday and I suddenly remembered my great dinner in the Spring, so I booked a table.
Good news - the warmth and ambience. After a very hospitable welcome we were seated in the beautiful dining room, right next to the fireplace. What a lovely atmosphere!
Good news - service was GREAT. Our server was named Christine, I think. I'm awful with names. She was informative, warm, attentive, and present.
Good news - our food was GREAT. Two of the three of us had salads first, both were bountiful and delicious. The mozzarella in my caprese was like a soft little pillow, the cheese was so fluffy and flavorful. With a hint of balsamic and on a bed of delicious tomatoes and arugula with little toasts - delicious. I had some fantastic wine - which the served helped me select. Also the table bread/rolls were unreal. So good. Our entrees were all excellent. My steak was prepared exactly as requested, which does not always happen even at the best places. Dessert did not disappoint either.
If you are waiting for bad news there really is none. The only complaint of sorts is that the noise level on a Saturday night was very loud. It was not horrible, but sometimes we had to lean in and ask one another to repeat things.
Overall an excellent meal and a place that we will return to.
The food is always fresh! That’s why this restaurant is a good choice for any meal of the day. Prices are reasonable. Waitstaff, the best! We have been there for brunches, lunches, dinners and special events. We are never disappointed . We can’t wait to go back !
A little pricey but I knew that going there food was awesome.
We came for dinner on our wedding anniversary. Great ambience and the food was delicious. Very attentive waiter but not overly attentive. Everything you would expect for great hospitality!
Menu was changed since last visit but waiter asked the chef if we could get the French Dip that had been deleted. We were pleased when we were able get it. Meal was great.
Hope they put it back as a regular item.
We’ve been there many and we never had a bad experience. We will definitely return.
