The small, quaint dining room was designed to resemble an old fashioned Italian osteria. Rich with wood and other earth elements Fiamma is a warm inviting atmosphere. The Italian countryside was inspiration for both the menu and the dining space. While at Fiamma you will be greeted with a smile, and treated like family.
Unimpressed all around with our experience this time with Fiamma. To be fair, we were there a couple years ago and it was much better, so maybe it was just an off night. Dining area was very loud and hot. Server didn’t have a good grasp of the menu or specials, and the food didn’t meet expectations. All in all, it was rather disappointing and I doubt I would return.
We went here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. We were seated quickly and water was brought. The waiter finally came over about 10 minutes later. He listed the specials and when we asked what the entree specials were again, we were told, "I just told you." We tried to order an appetizer before we had made a decision on an entree and were told that we had to order all together. We finally ordered and I ordered a glass of wine. After another 15 minutes, a basket of bread was plopped on the table. We looked around and realized that there was a bottle of oil to eat it with. Still waiting for glass of wine. The appetizer came 35 minutes later and was very good. Finally cancelled glass of wine to which the waiter responded "Oh, it didn't come?" Dinner entrees finally after another 30 minutes. At this point, we were tired of being there, tired of the noise, tired of waiting. The food was decent but the service was terrible. I will not be going back. Our last interaction with the waiter was awkward as he told my date whom he had made quite a rude comment to earlier in the evening, that he thought he was cute if it made him feel any better. This was obviously an attempt to up his tip. Thanks for a very unpleasant evening Weston the waiter.
The food and service was wonderful! I have been here many times and would go back again
The waiter was very helpful! The food was delicious. And a great environment to celebrate a graduation with family and friends.
A nice twist on the Italian restaurant theme. Some creative menu items. Everything tasted great. Nice two-level layout. Cool vibe!
AMAZING! The food was delicious. The bartender was great. Our server, John was fantastic. Made for an all around great night!
Space is really cool and rustic although makes the restaurant a little too noisy. Great flatbread pizzas, absolutely not flexibility with the menu which was a bit frustrating. Our waiter was pretty much disinterested in providing a good experience which definitely detracted from the evening.
Great service, great food!
From the greeter who said she gave our table away (we were five minutes early and there were empty tables in view) so it might be an hour wait, to the waiter who had to be asked for silverware, napkins, water, the sauce mentioned on the menu for the fish (“we’re out), “). to a coffee refill (no refills), we each decided that we would never go back. Two people declined to bring home their leftovers because the food was so bad. One guest said it was the worst restaurant meal he had ever eaten. And it was fairly expensive. No thanks. Go elsewhere.
Our meals were very good and our server, John was excellent. The pasta was tremendous and the seafood entree was very good.
Despite making a reservation via OpenTable, we waited an extra 30mins before ours was ready, despite there being several tables for us to sit at.
Despite having reservations, we waited 25’ to be seated, even though half the place was empty. Once we got seated, our waiter was cold at best, once he realized we’re not ordering alcohol. The servers were flat out rude. The food was mediocre with very high variance. Some of us really liked theirs, the others hated it. Mine was just ok, which is not justified based on the price. The desserts were decent, but felt store bought.
We ate here in September 2018, and everything was fabulous; food and service. His time we found the food adequate, but not equal to what we had last fall. The mussels were cold and the cauliflower béchamel a bit watery. The meatballs were good. Our server was attentive.
This was my dates and mines first dinner date. We both liked it so much and couldn’t stop talking about it also. The service was so wonderful. The manager was very nice also. We will definitely come back.
7:30 reservations, hostess station is in the entrance with no place for patrons to stand. Seated at 8 in the bar area, indicated in reservation it was a special anniversary. Bar and Kitchen were both over whelmed, they were overbooked and under managed.
I am from Naples, Italy. Centro’s pizza is like the pizza I can have in Naples. Wonderful experience.
Food was delicious and service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was a little noisy by the time we left but we went on a Thursday right at 5 and it worked out well. I would definitely recommend. The pizza was phenomenal!
The hostess was so incredibly rude and unprofessional. She sat us at 8:50 for a 7:45 reservation... in AN EMTPY ROOM, without an I’m sorry or explanation instead she continued to argue with me saying our reservation was moved to 8:15... which still wouldn’t make sense why we were being seated so late. Needless to say the service and food did not make up for the awful hostess. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing night out, this is not the place for you... it will be a waste of your time and money.
Excellent great service and food.
Great restaurant. One of our faves!
Our entire dining experience was pleasant. The ambiance is casual upscale and very comfortable. The food was good. The food is overpriced, but so are most of the dinners at the restaurants we frequent and not unlike many other comparable restaurants. The attached parking lot is always a plus in Rochester!!
I rarely write a review, but I want to share our one complaint. We had stopped for drinks prior to our 8:30 dinner reservations. We were seated promptly at 8:30. The atmosphere was welcoming. We asked our server for the wine list and said we would like to order an appetizer. We were told we couldn't order an appetizer until we put our full order in. We wanted to take time to look at the menu since it was our first time at Centro, but we also had not had anything to eat all evening. We asked again why we couldn't quickly order an appetizer while we looked at the menu. The server told us the kitchen did not allow her to place an appetizer order without ordering the entire dinner. Because we were so famished, we quickly shot out an order so we could get something to eat. The vibe from the server was that she wanted us to order and get the check. This was my husbands birthday dinner and it wasn't an evening I wanted to feel like we were rushed.
We have eaten an many restaurants across the country and we have never been told we couldn't order an appetizer while we enjoyed our wine and leisurely looked at the menu. This is absolutely unheard of.
This may not be an issue to some, but it ruined our experience that evening so I wanted to share. I don't mind spending $120 for dinner, but it should be a relaxing meal, a dining experience!
Centro is a place we enjoyed, but this is definitely something that would stop us from returning.
Had been there before and we keep going back. That says everything. Tried most everything on menu and never have been disappointed ever.
The food was ok this visit. The owner having to approve any menu changes was rather odd. Our server had to ask permission to make our pizza without cheese, and to see if we could add peas or cannellini beans to our pasta. We were "allowed" to get a side of beans for $8.95. Yes, I said $8.95. Pretty sure I won't be going back.
Had a great time!
Celebrated my Mom’s birthday with dinner here. Our first time — the food was incredible. Highly recommend trying a pizza either as an entree or as an appetizer as we did.
Our only feedback is dessert — would recommend skipping it entirely.
We arrived and the host was talking on a cordless phone. He walked away from the desk and came back twice, but he never even acknowledged us. Even when on the phone, he could have looked at us and smiled or motioned “just one second”.
We sat - it took 5-7 minutes for the server to come to our table for a drink order. There were 8 other tables in the restaurant at 7pm, but it cleared out as we sat, so it was not busy. We couldn’t decide what we wanted for entrees but wanted to place an appetizer order. The server told us no, that we had to place our entire order at once and could not order apps to start. What? Never heard of such a thing. What if we ordered our entrees, THEN decided to add an appetizer or side. Would we be told no? Ridiculous. We had to ask for bread. My pizza was burnt on the bottom but I didn’t feel like sending back as I was hungry. Took a while to get our check. Took a while to cash out. We felt like we were a nuisance to our server. I’ve been in the the hospitality industry for 25 years....service can make up for a lot. I did not feel welcome from the time I walked in the door. I won’t be back.
Cooking seemed heavy handed. My pasta was floating in oil.
Thought it was rather pricey for the quality.
Our waiter was excellent though.
I love the building.
The pizza was fabulous! We had eggplant with zucchini for our appetizer and it was delicious. Our main course was pasta cauliflower with a cream sauce. Slightly chilly but very tasty. Service was somewhat slow. The host that greeted us was a bit snippy but it was difficult to hear in the bar area. Overall the best Italian food in Rochester.
Food was delicious. We shared a appetizer of pizza points which was unique and delicious. I had the homemade fettuccine with clam sauce which was the best I ever had. I ate the leftovers for breakfast because I couldn’t wait for lunch! Everyone else loved their food as well. Really cool old building with great atmosphere. Waiter was good and attentive but forgot to bring us bread, which we didn’t realize until the end when he asked us if I wanted more bread to soak up my clam sauce.
We had a few children with us. Menu was not terribly kid-friendly & our waitress said the menu offering could not be modified to the children’s requests. Our waitress never asked if she could get us more bread- there were 8 of us! Bread vanished in a heartbeat. Never asked if she could refill our drinks or get another glass of wine. Food was okay. Best was the eggplant parmigiana. Lettuce in salad was wilted. Will not go back.
Went here for hubby's bday dinner and Centro did not disappoint. We had visited previously on a walking food tour and were intrigued enough to try it out for a full dinner. First of all, cocktails were amazing. We had a blood orange margarita and a cosmo, which was made with Aperol and was one of the best cocktails I've ever tasted. Split the special shrimp and scallop appetizer and grilled octopus. Octopus especially was outstanding on a bed of white beans. Split the four cheese pizza and profiteroles for dessert. Server was great.
If I have to pick anything apart, I did note on my reservation form that it was for a birthday. I think it's a really nice touch when restaurants acknowledge that in some way but Centro did not. Will still be back, though!
The restaurant is quaint but our experience was underwhelming at best. We were seated upstairs at the worst table. I was facing a brick wall and there was a staff access door nearby that presented a nice draft anytime staff went in or out. We had the fried seafood platter appetizer and the calamari was overcooked and rubbery and the smelt very fishy. We sent our entrees back because they were barely warm when we got them. Our waiter never asked how are food was and was rude when we asked for butter for the bread (which was after we asked for bread). We will not be going back.
Right out of Italy! The decor, ambiance, drink and wine options. All top notch. There is a creative and imaginative menu with excellent service. Pizzas are over the top and the tomahawk steak is outstanding.
An inexperienced waiter who couldn’t follow simple directions as to timing of entree etc and unfamiliar with decanters for wine brought the check without even asking if we were finished with dinner and asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. Music was way way too loud. Not a great experience!
We started going to Fiamma out in Gates and was disappointed they closed. Discovered they had this location downtown and it’s worth the drive! Food is excellent, great use of space, interior is elegant and same phenomenal taste and service.
Great! Server did a nice job.
Food was excellent. Bourbon selection could be better but they have big ice!!! So many restaurants fail to realize the importance of ice! We are definitely coming back.
All 4 meals were delish, drinks were tasty and ambience was trendy. Will definitely be back.
Hopefully you can get better service then we did. It seemed our waiter was not in the mood and just annoyed overall. As I looked around other wait staff seemed happy enough...just not ours. Did not want to repeat himself so made sure everyone was done talking and paying attention to him, as if we were children! Crazy since the youngest at our table was 18, the oldest being 58!
Food was good.
Repeat guest, never had a bad experience; working our way through the menu.
