Fun, reliable tavern in great location! Great space - opens up to the outside when nice. Traditional, pleasant interior. Wide selection of interesting and tasty offerings. Attentive service - reasonable prices. Will be back!
Wait staff was not attentive. We waited 20 minutes for someone to come by after getting our drinks to then order our dinner even though there were only 2 other tables. Food was good, good value.
Loved the atmosphere. Great food and great service!
Well, I guess I'll start by saying the food was super tasty! We had a couple pizzas and an appetizer and all of it was great. But, the service was terrible and we left disappointed. We were only 1 of 3 tables that were there at 7:00pm, so they were NOT busy. Our waiter brought my the wrong beer, forgot my soup and just barely even noticed us. We had to stop a host twice to ask about our food and our check while our waiter was in the next room wrapping silverware. Coming from a food service background I am typically very patient and understanding, but this service was just no good.
Sat by the door which was very cold when there were other open tables
New menu, which looked great; very slow delivery of food. Several workers were going back and forth by our table in the dining room with dirty bucket/mop/big trash bag. Further, the door they were entering/exiting continued to slam, interrupting our business lunch meeting.
It took a while after being seated to be waited on. The waitress was nice enough but seemed overwhelmed. The cocktails were weak, should have gotten beer or wine. The harvest bowl was suppose to have quinoa and pepitas, I counted 2 pepitas and the quinoa was MIA. The other meals my friends had were also meh. So, to sum up, we waited a bit for bad drinks and mediocre food. I don’t see a need to come back here. Many other restaurants in the city that are much better.
A large party was seated after us and served before. Slow service, good value for food.
There was a mouse running around. We told the waitress and she knew about it. And it was cute but ewww.
Waitress was pretty clueless. Service was extremely slow. Pretty disappointed.
Food was good, service was on the slower side, had to remind server of drink orders, saw a mouse (which isn’t a surpise, given the area and the age of the buildings and nearby construction.)
Food was fair in taste, the Sea Scallops entree was not worth the $28. Scallops were cooked great, however I questioned the pairing of potatoes and corn on the cob with the meal. I requested the meal as described on menu. They were out of the wedges and they were out. The substitution was french fries. I recommend reviewing the pairing of this dish. Suggestion, pairing with another type of vegetable like asparagus, beets, or seasonal. You could also pair with a complimentary flavored risotto like lemon or saffron. That might make the dish worth the price.
We were on a trip to Boston and you expect good seafood, right? Worst crab cakes I have ever eaten (no taste and overpowered by a mustard topping) and the mussels were mediocre. Wine was disappointing--probably my fault for ordering the house wine. Saving grace--our server was helpful and attentive and the location was 2 blocks from our hotel so it was convenient.
Hate to write bad reviews because I am pretty easy to please (not a foodie), but I would not go back.
Seems like they were short staffed, but our waiter was wonderful despite being the only server!
This place has a mouse problem! The place was fine for a late dinner in the city and the food was good but I will never be back!!!! The mice we're running around the whole place, must have seen at least 7. I couldn't believe it and we weren't the only customers that saw these furry things. When we told the wait staff they were well aware of the problem. They blamed it on the window and doors being open.
We had a group of eight and all were very pleased with the restaurant overall. Our server was very attentive, personable and professional. The food was excellent, the oysters received many compliments. The cozy, relaxed atmosphere made the evening feel like dinner at a friend's home.
Came upon by accident by having brunch at another location so stopped in for oysters and loved it so much, we returned the next day....oysters delish!!!
Had a great meal before an event. Appetizers and drinks came out quick, good timing on our meals. All enjoyed their food. Will be back!
Excellent service and my cocktail was nice. However, the food could be improved. Lumps of flour in the clam chowder. Caesar salad didn’t have correct dressing. No bread. Linguini and clams were so salty I could barely taste anything else. And when I asked for grated cheese, I got a small ramekin with some kind of lump cheese...definitely not Parmesan and certainly not grated. I might return for a drink, but not for the food.
Nothing special. Went for lunch and got a burger and fries. Service was friendly but pretty slow. There seemed to be some confusion with wait staff as to who had which tables. The burger was okay but nothing special. The fries were a bit greasy and limp.
Good value food in an energetic atmosphere. Went there on a Friday night.
Excellent service. Very customer friendly. Quiet enough for conversation, but lively enough to have a fun time with your dinner companions.
The waiter was just not sharp - forgot our drink order among other things. We were there for brunch at 10:15. They didn’t have brewed.coffee; making it worse, all they had was Keurig decaf coffee
Bring back the grownup happy meal please..........Bring back the grownup happy meal please..........Bring back the grownup happy meal please..........
Good brunch for family with kids
Unfortunately while the service was adequate the food was not. Out of the 9 of us we had 4 complaints about food quality, subpar mixed drink, both under and over cooked desserts, bland lobster roll. One of the party observed a waitstaff member opening a wine bottle with his teeth prior to serving. We will not be returning to this restaurant.
I was disappointed by the food quality. I ordered the Clam strip sandwich and short rib pizza. The clams were terribly overcooked and overbreaded. For a Boston location this is unacceptable. And the Pizza flavors were ok, but the crust was more roll like than pizza dough. In all, I expected more.
Had calamari as an app that was just so-so. For dinner, I had blackened scallops , and he had an aged sirloin. Both our meals were great, including the sautéed root veggie and spinach side. The hostess was great and saved us a seat in the open air-ed window, which we really enjoyed! Good service and a nice atmosphere, I’d recommend this place!
This most recent experience at Central Wharf Co. was extremely disappointing and embarrassing since it was a business lunch. The restaurant had a watch party and was much busier than my previous visits at lunch time, but having to flag down a waiter after 30 minutes to even notice us after being seated was already unacceptable, and have having sat for 1.5 hours and still no food or waiter to check-in. Had to follow around the only visible wait staff to tell them to bag up our food and we had to leave. I literally paid (and still tipped) to sit at an empty table with water. No one came by to rectify to the issue; they just bagged up our food and gave us our check.
NOTE: My previous visits to Central Wharf have been very pleasant and with prompt service, so this recent visit is not always representative, but still no excuse for the poor service.
The food was excellent. My BF had a burger and I had a BLT that they made vegetarian for me. The fries were yummy. The drinks were good and attractively presented. The service was ok...not attentive but not lacking. She gave us our check without asking if we wanted anything else, which was weird.
Great service and friendly reception.
Great food and service. Will definitely go back again.
No wait on Valentine's Day. We decided on Central Wharf because of a previous great experience during the summer when they had a lobster roll special. The food did not disappoint and the service was prompt and friendly.
It was an easy walk from the Boston Harbor Garage although metered street parking was available.
Went for a work birthday lunch and had burgers and fish tacos. The staff was friendly and attentive, made sure all our orders were delivered correctly, the food was great, and we got two slices of cake on the house!
Excellent food. Very reasonable price. Large open space, big screen TVs. Not too loud. Awesome time.
Stopped by for a Saturday night dinner with the family and had a great meal along with great service and will return. Prices are reasonable for Boston.
I was in Boston for a night and went to dinner with colleagues at Central Wharf. I was very disappointed. I ordered the linguini with clams but they were out of clams so I settled for a buttermilk fried chicken dish but the chicken was not very crunchy and the mashed potatoes were cold. To top off the night, my colleague noticed a mouse scuffling about and we notified the waitress who said she would tell the manager. The manager never apologized to us and charged us our full bill even though I couldn’t finish my meal. I will definitely not be returning.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
Upon arrival we were promptly ushered to our reserved table. They seemed to be a little short staffed and service was a little on the slow side, but not outrageously so. The food was tasty, inventive and reasonably priced.
