This most recent experience at Central Wharf Co. was extremely disappointing and embarrassing since it was a business lunch. The restaurant had a watch party and was much busier than my previous visits at lunch time, but having to flag down a waiter after 30 minutes to even notice us after being seated was already unacceptable, and have having sat for 1.5 hours and still no food or waiter to check-in. Had to follow around the only visible wait staff to tell them to bag up our food and we had to leave. I literally paid (and still tipped) to sit at an empty table with water. No one came by to rectify to the issue; they just bagged up our food and gave us our check.
NOTE: My previous visits to Central Wharf have been very pleasant and with prompt service, so this recent visit is not always representative, but still no excuse for the poor service.
The food was excellent. My BF had a burger and I had a BLT that they made vegetarian for me. The fries were yummy. The drinks were good and attractively presented. The service was ok...not attentive but not lacking. She gave us our check without asking if we wanted anything else, which was weird.
Great service and friendly reception.
Great food and service. Will definitely go back again.
No wait on Valentine's Day. We decided on Central Wharf because of a previous great experience during the summer when they had a lobster roll special. The food did not disappoint and the service was prompt and friendly.
It was an easy walk from the Boston Harbor Garage although metered street parking was available.
Went for a work birthday lunch and had burgers and fish tacos. The staff was friendly and attentive, made sure all our orders were delivered correctly, the food was great, and we got two slices of cake on the house!
Excellent food. Very reasonable price. Large open space, big screen TVs. Not too loud. Awesome time.
Stopped by for a Saturday night dinner with the family and had a great meal along with great service and will return. Prices are reasonable for Boston.
I was in Boston for a night and went to dinner with colleagues at Central Wharf. I was very disappointed. I ordered the linguini with clams but they were out of clams so I settled for a buttermilk fried chicken dish but the chicken was not very crunchy and the mashed potatoes were cold. To top off the night, my colleague noticed a mouse scuffling about and we notified the waitress who said she would tell the manager. The manager never apologized to us and charged us our full bill even though I couldn’t finish my meal. I will definitely not be returning.
Great food, service and atmosphere. We will definitely go back.
Upon arrival we were promptly ushered to our reserved table. They seemed to be a little short staffed and service was a little on the slow side, but not outrageously so. The food was tasty, inventive and reasonably priced.
Not a good experience starting with being sent on a wild goose chase to the wrong location to find a hostess, up a second floor then sent back down to a different first floor location to find the right spot and still waited there a few minutes for a hostess to appear and seat us.
That was followed by a 45 minute wait for drinks and food that was mediocre at best. Everything we ordered was heavily breaded and fried including a Thai shrimp wrap. We had to scrape excess breading from the shrimp. Given an an almost complete lack of any sauce, not sure what made this a "Thai" wrap as opposed of a wrap of fried glop.
To add insult to insult to injury, Central Wharf reported to Open Table that we did not show up for our reservation. Wish we had been smart enough not to show up there. Won't happen again.
Great food, great service, very reasonable prices. What more do you want from a restaurant.
Mostly good, only complaint I've heard is the chicken pot pie was a bit watery. Always a bit iffy when it's served with a spoon...
Food was good. The service was the worst ever experienced by this reviewer. Our server was incredibly distracted and walked away before complete order was placed. There were no refills on drinks (or offers for any other drinks). Order was slammed on table. Our server was having a bad day that sadly had to include us.
Pretty mediocre experience. Wouldn't go back. Food wasn't bad just nothing special, wish I had gone to a different restaurant in Boston.
We really like this restaurant. It's great for a good meal when out on the town with family.
Great place with good food. We all enjoyed the clam chowder! Lobster Rolls were very good with plenty of lobster in it. Cod Fish sandwich was, also, quite good. Will definitely be back.
I reserved a table for a group of 12 for an office lunch last minute. They had 12 seats set up and did not have any problems getting seated. They gave us a good amount to figure out drinks and what we wanted to eat. Our server was super attentive and checked in on us the perfect amount of time. We had lunch on a rainy day so it was pretty quiet here. The food was fresh and I loved the clam chowder! I ordered the cod sandwich, which was light and crisp but could use a bit more lemon aioli. We all had a great sit-down meal together here and everything was great especially on this rainy day.
The food was EXCELLENT! However, when you have "Wharf" in your name I would expect a plethora of seafood options. Especially in Boston. Turned out to be typical upscale bar menu items...that in all reality were executed extremely well!!
Have the "grown up" Happy Meal (chowder, Sam Adams, Lobster roll and Cape Cod Chips)
Great food...loved everything we had and service was great too.
Food was good. Oysters were yummy. Lobster Mac &Cheese was more pasta cheese with lobster. Beer salad was ok. Lobster roll meal was good. Shrimp flatbread was fine but wasn't sure were the pesto was.
Scene was ok. Waitress was nice but often no where to be found. Only two stalls in the restroom, one was clogged and the other had no TP. At least the food was good.
The menu on open table is not accurate to the menu at the restaurant. The only vegetarian options at the restaurant are salads and 1 pizza. We went here expecting the menu that was advertised on open table which had many vegetarian options and were very disappointed and ended up leaving without ordering anything.
Great! I had 14 people and a baby! They accommodated us beautifully. Nice place. We went during Sail Boston in the harbor, it was an easy walk and kept the nautical theme going. Couldn't have been happier.
I love democracy, the republic, and this restaurant.
I was recommended by a co-worker since I was looking for seafood. Checked out the spot and it was pretty good.
first bad review I've written because I was very disappointed since I booked for 10 workmates sight unseen based on the reviews and rating here and we were not happy. Service was very, very slow and not friendly. no real check ins for water or drinks and though we waited a very long time for entrees after apps, most items were cold (meaning they sat waiting for pick-up) and one item, originally forgotten, came out with the center completely cold/uncooked.
nachos had a whole top layer of burnt chips, and were generally eh, hummus platter the same, people said the chowder was good.
Overall the mediocre food and really slow service could have been overcome with a friendly and apologetic waitress who brought us more drinks before we had to flag her down.
first time in 20 years of business dinners I gave the minimum 15% - and she was lucky to get it.
too many other great places in Boston - would not recommend or go back.
The Central Wharf Company restaurant is a great place with excellent food. We had incredible service and enjoyed the nachos especially. The beer and wine selection were great.
We (2) had come to the central wharf company when they had an event upstairs. It seemed to have distracted the service downstairs a bit. The restaurant had great potential, but we did seem to hit a bad night.
The nachos were scrumptious and hearty. The eggplant and portobello mushroom sandwich was perfectly layered. The eggplant was well prepared (not mushy) and the balsamic was the perfect compliment to the vegetables. The atmosphere and service were excellent.
Waitstaff service was really slow despite the restaurant being very empty and we were the second table seated. Asked for bread and after waiting for a while, two slices arrived on a plate with no butter. I ordered the grilled octopus and it was so mushy (not grill tasting at all), I had to order a chicken salad wrap. I wasn't charged for the octopus. The French fries (although I asked for them to be left off my order) were very nice. My friend's cod sandwich was nice, but the accompanying salad was overdressed. We won't be going back.
our entire table had something with fish. everything tasted fresh and seasoned just right. Lunch wasn't overly crowded and the atmosphere is just right.
We had a table by the door on a cold night and there was a private party upstairs so he had cold gusts of wind, loud music and it was so dim it was hard to read the menu. Food was ok but I would not make a special trip. If I wanted a meal and drinks near the financial district or Fanuel Hall then I would come back
The burger I had was great, the service was very slow and not very friendly. I would not dine here again.
Good heavier salads and lunch options. Service a bit slow especially given there was not much of a crowd. But a good spot for business lunch to talk.
Good menu selection and good quality. Attentive service in a great historic Boston atmosphere.
It was New Year's Eve, and pretty early in the night. Everything was fine.
Very nice lunch at the bar with Chris. Erin recommended the restaurant highly and it did not disappoint. Great bar service, tasty drinks, and delicious food. Very highly recommend a visit.
Service took a while to get to us as we were seated in the back. Server was less than friendly and forgot a few items along the way. Food was good but sandwiches portions were small. Crackers/bread were stale on the starters.
