Central Park Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The food was average. The grilled octopus appetizer that we got did not taste like octopus, it was soft. The customer service needed some improvement and didn't seem friendly. Our servers were rushing us throughout the dinner (e.g. taking away our plates when we weren't even done yet) even though there weren't many customers during dinner.
Ahi was good but not awesome. Didn't help that the waiter did not serve what I ordered (salmon). He offered to change it but I hate wasting food. On my way out I saw them taking a salmon plate to another table and it looked delicious, wish I could have had it!
My friend and I had a superb meal. The crab/lobster cakes were exceptional and beautifully presented. My friend and I shared them and they divided them up beautifully on two plates.
The Chilean sea bass and the accompanying fennel and purple potatoes were all delicious.
My friend only had the meatball appetizer as her main dish . It was delicious and so was the raspberry/white chocolate gelato we shared.
It was a totally good evening.
My only negative is that I was a little surprised at the high prices. The small portion of gelato, although delicious, was $12. Sea bass $35, maybe, but many of the main courses were in this range. Our bill (we had no alcohol) was $80.
Was impressed by restaurant before for food quality and service. Sadly service has deteriorated; it's so poor, you can't turn a blind eye to it despite the food quality still being above average. I'm a VIP Open Table customer and apparently that doesn't mean a thing at this venue. The table behind us got attentive service, and we were barely served. As a result, we were unmotivated to enjoy ourselves by fully ordering from all categories of the menu. Highly disappointing, and we will not be back. Now I know why the restaurant down the block was crowded. This place will not be in business too much longer with better competitive choices.
Great place. Service was spot on and very friendly.
I got the skirt steak which was delicious. Wife got the linguine with lobster and scallops. As much as I liked my dish it tried the linguine and it Enea's amazing. Need to go back and get an entire plate myself. Great place. You should go!
Central Park Bistro is my favorite local restaurant. They always offer standards like filet mignon or salmon but they are frequently updated with a twist! The atmosphere is warm & inviting and it does have the feel of a bistro in Europe. I've made it my regular go-to restaurant to relax, have a glass of wine or a cocktail and a delicious meal.
This was a Valentine's Day celebration with 6 people. Did not know there would be a
special menu instead of regular menu. Was taken aback by the price-$75 per person. However
the food was good but not a lot of it. Did not think the 20% gratuity was warranted. We were
never offered any wine, service was hurried, did not offer a water refill. We understand it was a
very busy nite but paying that kind of money it should of been better
Central Park Bistro needs to update its menu, its decor, its wine list. Two fish on the menu, a completely boring vegetarian option from people who should know Eastern Mediterranean food, sticky card menus as if this were a cheap dinner....all add up to sitting still while the world changes. Pausa down the street will give them a run for their money. CPB is TIRED.
The appetizers : crab & lobster cake and lobsters salad were very good; we ordered the central park skirt steak (medium ) done right and tasty, lobster and scallops linguine is very tasty with lobster sauce. .not too greasy. ..and of course dessert was the warm bread toffee pudding with vanilla ice cream. . Overall, it was a pleasant experience and the waiters are very attentive. . would go back again. .
This has become our "go-to" restaurant when we want to get out for a quiet dinner by ourselves or with others. Staff is friendly. Service is prompt. Cocktails come in a hefty pour. And, most of all the food is delicious. It's a varied menu from pizzas to foie gras risotto balls to steak and seafood main courses. We never have room for dessert!
This was Christmas Eve dinner with three very picky millennials! The food was truly excellent. The Chilean sea bass was to die for. I had the foie gras as a starter and it was delicious. Service was really good. We were given a table in the window (after I requested a move) which was quiet and delightful. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant. You won't find anything better even if you pay top dollar in SF. Peninsula gem.
The ambiance and the food were great. The crab cakes were amazing though a bit tiny. The burger was perfect and I was happy that they substituted a salad for the fries.
Everything would have been perfect except for the waiter. I was not impressed with the surly waiter. He didn't smile and was not friendly. He insisted my Visa gift card was invalid and made no attempt to try to figure out what was wrong. I ended up using my regular credit card and using the gift card somewhere else. Apparently he didn't know how to handle it which was ok but his attitude was not ok.
Went with girlfriends for a fairly quick dinner before a dance, so we just had entrees and wine. Th environment was warm and comfortable, noise level low, so we could talk, and the food was delicious. We had petrale sole and skirt steak. We were all happy with the meal and wine.
I have enjoyed this restaurant for years. Wonderful food, very nice ambiance and excellent service. This last time I went there with my two grown children. My daughter ordered the filet without the sauce or butter on it. They accidently forgot and placed the items on the steak and she asked very politely they she had ordered it plain. The server got quite an attitude at the point and made the rest of our dining uncomfortable. I would have recommended it to a friend but now I have concerns.
