We were on vacation, and Central was recommended by friends. Everything about the restaurant was very good - the food, the service, the atmosphere.... did I mention the food! The atmosphere is kind of high-end casual. I highly recommend for almost any and all occasions. Next time in Montgomery, will make a point to go again!
It was my fiancée’s birthday. We wanted to go somewhere special, elegant. Central was everything we wanted and more. The ambiance was amazing. The only thing I found kinda off was that our server forgot to bring us steak knives for our steak until after we were done. However, it wasn’t a deal breaker for us. We used the butter knives.
Valet didn't bother to open the door for the ladies - too busy playing on his cell. Central needs to consider stocking black napkins for guests wearing dark suits, slacks, etc. Pepper grinder was hard to use and the server took it away right after the salad course without asking. Food was great and nice portions... Try the rabbit - very filling.
Central is clean and tidy. You will have an overall good experience for the price.
Melody B was a very knowledgeable server. She knew a great deal about the building and its history. She was friendly and helpful and made our dining experience fantastic. The food was served in a timely manor and was absolutely delicious. I had the braised short ribs and they were tender, juicy and delicious. We changed the time of our reservation and they accommodated us with no issue at all. We had an amazing experience.
Brandy was the best...food was very good....
Came early for the reservation and waited a few minutes for a table to be cleared. Tried what the waitress recommended, enjoyed the experience. The meals were not super filling, but the steak was probably the best I’ve ever had in quite some time. Really expensive, be prepared for $20/plate minimum.
Delicious food, creative cocktails, excellent service! Everything tasted delicious and our server was especially knowledgeable and attentive. Wonderful dining experience!
Great place to eat. Afterwards, a nice walk around downtown
Very good food and the service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Always a great experience when I eat at Central.
Good food, great atmosphere, and service was fantastic by Natalie!
Easter Brunch Buffet at Central was wonderful. Michelle, our server, was very attentive and introduced us to a new wine selection, even bringing the bottle to the table for us to see it. Great food choices, and a terrific value. Can’t wait until the next holiday buffet occasion.
Easter Sunday Brunch Buffet, great.
Fabulous Sunday Brunch buffet. A winner with the whole family.
Enjoyed a very extensive Easter Brunch Buffet with a variety of selections and great food.
Good food. Good drinks. Pricey but worth it.
We love Central for family celebrations, to impress friends and for just a casual date night. The food is excellent and the service is responsive. The location makes it fun too!
Our reservation was early, and the room was very empty. After standing around for a while while waiting to be seated, we were taken to the back by the bar to a terrible location. The dinner menu is heavy on expensive items. This restaurant is next to a ball park, and would benefit by adding some of their lunch menu items for dinner. The server was very pleasant, but the "hostess" ignored us.
Lovely venue very comfortable excellent service and great food but at a high price
We were promptly attended to and sat 15 minutes before our reservation time. We were greeted by our waitress (Melody) and were immediately delighted with her presence. Her recommendations for an appetizer as well as the Chef Special where exemplary. My wife and I were celebrating our 9 year anniversary and her 29th birthday and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. Our glasses were never empty and our food was delicious. Definitely will be repeat customers.
It was pretty nice
My wife ordered a filet and she was brought out a strip steak. She did not complain she ate it anyway. I order fish on a bed of black eyed peas, the peas where not fully cooked. The amount of food does not really reflect the price. It's one thing to pay for taste but if it does not taste up to par at least increase the quantity. We prefer quality versus quantity but to have both is awesome. We were dining at Captian Anderson's down in Panama the week prior and Central was no comparison in the quality of taste and quantity of portions.
Met a friend, had enough attention to get drink refills and such, but never rushed or interrupted. Wonderful restaurant.
Great ambience, great food, and the best part for us was our server, Melody. She rocks! We are from out of town and were in from Philly to see civil rights stuff. We loved talking with her. Also we loved talking to Beth, another server, who talked about Montgomery and civil rights. They made our evening! We are loving the South!
While the ambiance and service seem to always be good, the food at Central still seems to lack that WOW factor. The filet mignon was cooked to the right temperature but was way over salted. The accompanying potatoes were way under cooked to the point of almost being crunchy. The other entree was the Amber jack fish. While satisfactory, the black eye peas that came with it were under cooked as well. I know they have yet another new chef so I’m hopeful but the clock is ticking.
My husband & I recently celebrated our 23rd Anniversary & we truly enjoyed our wonderful experience dining here for the 1st time. The greeters were very friendly & our server Melanie was awesome. Our NY Strip Steak was seasoned to perfection & the chocolate dessert was amazing. We will definitely be dining back there again.
The staff were great! Very excellent service!! The food was very good also!!
We always like trying their new items in addition to their specials.
The fried oysters with pepper jelly worked very well.
We haven't been disappointed with the different apps and entrees.
Dessert seems to be a hit or miss, so at times, we don't get it unless it is really something we want to try.
I was really surprised to find a progressive restaurant with really good food in Montgomery. It was very good and the waitress was very informed of her menu. Creative, tasty and local food done quite well.
Wonderful birthday lunch with surprise bottle of wine and shot of bourbon ordered by my son-in-law in Oregon. The food and service were spot-on!
Best restaurant in Montgomery. Food, service, atmosphere... never disappoints!
Because I had indicated that the occasion was for a job interview, it would have been nice if someone at the restaurant had the thought of not putting us in the center of the restaurant. The food was very good and I will return, but I thought it was relatively inconsiderate on their part.
Whitney our server was amazing
The food was alright. Chicken was extremely salty. Beet salad had 3 tiny pieces of beet and a bunch of leaves. Overall we paid the same amount as we would have for some of the best restaurants in New York City and Vegas and it simply wasn’t worth that much money especially not for salty chicken and 1/8 of a beet.
I have visited Central several times, typically on special occasions or business outings, and the atmosphere and service never disappoint. Neither does the libation creation and wine list. This particular trip I was somewhat disappointed with the food, however. We arrived about ten minutes after our reservation time, which I called to inform them and they greeted that kindly and even wished us a happy anniversary when I called. Once there, we were seated immediately and offered a complimentary glass of champagne due to the special occasion, which we found very pleasing both in gesture and in flavor. Our server was very personable, and filled us in on the specials from both the bar and the kitchen, as well as answering a few questions about the menu. We were given ample space but also well attended to. Once we ordered food, it arrived in a timely fashion, and was just as we had ordered.
On previous trips I have not had any doubt what made this restaurant fit its price, but on this one I was disappointed in the food itself. She ordered chicken and I had a steak. The chicken was quite flavorful, and the gnocchi was perfect, but the Brussels sprouts she ordered as a substitution for broccolini were overcooked and not flavored well. My steak was perfectly cooked (med-rare), but tougher than I would have expected. My entire plate was one steak with onions and a sauce on top, with one red potato cut in half and quartered placed around it. The main concern on this night was the flavor of the food, and while I was not displeased by anything except the Brussels sprouts, once I had everything I was left underwhelmed. This has not been the case in the past, so perhaps this was just an off night.
Our group was visiting from out-of-town -- we loved the downtown vibe of Montgomery and delighted to find this restaurant with excellent menu of locally sourced authentic southern foods.
We love a great meal and this was exceptional! Nice wine, great waiter Aaron, delicious dinner. Service was awesome. We will definitely go back and highly recommend.
The handcrafted cocktails were delicious, and the server helped guide some of our party to the best drink of the night. It's a beautiful space, and well worth the drive down from Nashville. I wanted to try everything on the menu, and we all loved what we ordered. The beef rib was delicious, and the sides were swoon worthy.
Great service! Marvelous cuisine! Would highly recommend!
