We were promptly attended to and sat 15 minutes before our reservation time. We were greeted by our waitress (Melody) and were immediately delighted with her presence. Her recommendations for an appetizer as well as the Chef Special where exemplary. My wife and I were celebrating our 9 year anniversary and her 29th birthday and we couldn’t have asked for a better time. Our glasses were never empty and our food was delicious. Definitely will be repeat customers.
It was pretty nice
Great ambience, great food, and the best part for us was our server, Melody. She rocks! We are from out of town and were in from Philly to see civil rights stuff. We loved talking with her. Also we loved talking to Beth, another server, who talked about Montgomery and civil rights. They made our evening! We are loving the South!
While the ambiance and service seem to always be good, the food at Central still seems to lack that WOW factor. The filet mignon was cooked to the right temperature but was way over salted. The accompanying potatoes were way under cooked to the point of almost being crunchy. The other entree was the Amber jack fish. While satisfactory, the black eye peas that came with it were under cooked as well. I know they have yet another new chef so I’m hopeful but the clock is ticking.
My husband & I recently celebrated our 23rd Anniversary & we truly enjoyed our wonderful experience dining here for the 1st time. The greeters were very friendly & our server Melanie was awesome. Our NY Strip Steak was seasoned to perfection & the chocolate dessert was amazing. We will definitely be dining back there again.
The staff were great! Very excellent service!! The food was very good also!!
We always like trying their new items in addition to their specials.
The fried oysters with pepper jelly worked very well.
We haven't been disappointed with the different apps and entrees.
Dessert seems to be a hit or miss, so at times, we don't get it unless it is really something we want to try.
I was really surprised to find a progressive restaurant with really good food in Montgomery. It was very good and the waitress was very informed of her menu. Creative, tasty and local food done quite well.
Wonderful birthday lunch with surprise bottle of wine and shot of bourbon ordered by my son-in-law in Oregon. The food and service were spot-on!
Best restaurant in Montgomery. Food, service, atmosphere... never disappoints!
Because I had indicated that the occasion was for a job interview, it would have been nice if someone at the restaurant had the thought of not putting us in the center of the restaurant. The food was very good and I will return, but I thought it was relatively inconsiderate on their part.
Whitney our server was amazing
The food was alright. Chicken was extremely salty. Beet salad had 3 tiny pieces of beet and a bunch of leaves. Overall we paid the same amount as we would have for some of the best restaurants in New York City and Vegas and it simply wasn’t worth that much money especially not for salty chicken and 1/8 of a beet.
I have visited Central several times, typically on special occasions or business outings, and the atmosphere and service never disappoint. Neither does the libation creation and wine list. This particular trip I was somewhat disappointed with the food, however. We arrived about ten minutes after our reservation time, which I called to inform them and they greeted that kindly and even wished us a happy anniversary when I called. Once there, we were seated immediately and offered a complimentary glass of champagne due to the special occasion, which we found very pleasing both in gesture and in flavor. Our server was very personable, and filled us in on the specials from both the bar and the kitchen, as well as answering a few questions about the menu. We were given ample space but also well attended to. Once we ordered food, it arrived in a timely fashion, and was just as we had ordered.
On previous trips I have not had any doubt what made this restaurant fit its price, but on this one I was disappointed in the food itself. She ordered chicken and I had a steak. The chicken was quite flavorful, and the gnocchi was perfect, but the Brussels sprouts she ordered as a substitution for broccolini were overcooked and not flavored well. My steak was perfectly cooked (med-rare), but tougher than I would have expected. My entire plate was one steak with onions and a sauce on top, with one red potato cut in half and quartered placed around it. The main concern on this night was the flavor of the food, and while I was not displeased by anything except the Brussels sprouts, once I had everything I was left underwhelmed. This has not been the case in the past, so perhaps this was just an off night.
Our group was visiting from out-of-town -- we loved the downtown vibe of Montgomery and delighted to find this restaurant with excellent menu of locally sourced authentic southern foods.
We love a great meal and this was exceptional! Nice wine, great waiter Aaron, delicious dinner. Service was awesome. We will definitely go back and highly recommend.
The handcrafted cocktails were delicious, and the server helped guide some of our party to the best drink of the night. It's a beautiful space, and well worth the drive down from Nashville. I wanted to try everything on the menu, and we all loved what we ordered. The beef rib was delicious, and the sides were swoon worthy.
Great service! Marvelous cuisine! Would highly recommend!
One of my local favorites. Fresh, local menu changes seasonally, but you can't beat their filet - it's the best!
The dinner was very enjoyable. The service by the waitress was good, but I wouldn't say outstanding. A few times the glasses got pretty close to empty before they were refilled and more than once, they were refilled by someone other than her. The food was excellent, with the exception of the broccolini which was a little bland. Other than that, the food was incredible. Definitely will be back.
We enjoyed this place! Great food! Service was ok. For the type of restaurant and the price, I expected a lil more attentiveness. However, the food is simply amazing!
I really enjoyed my night it was very cozy and quiet .. And the food was awesome .. The only problem I had was that they overcharged me ...the waitress came back and said it was resolved but I still got over charged looked at statement and for sure that's what happen ..I plan on calling tho to get it resolved
Great food. Brussels sprouts are out of this world!
My wife and I ate at Central for the first time on Valentine's Day. Both of us had the same reaction. Their website and menu were both misleading. The website shows an elegant room with table cloths and upholstered chairs. Actually, it was more like a sports bar. No table cloths and the chairs were metal. I had the Orange Duck. The menu described it as "Duck breast ala orange, beet, sweet potato, brussel sprouts, orange infused." It came with three leaves of brussel sprouts (yes that's leaves not actual sprouts) and six dime size slices of sweet potato. When I questioned the waitress, she said well the Brussels sprouts and sweet potatoes are garnish not sides. That's fine but the menu made it appear as if they were sides - both by the description and the price ($38.00). Ended up ordering a so-so side to go with the meat. We also had their banana nut bread dessert, described as "banana custard pudding, bruleed bananas, candied pecans". The chef must not be able to count higher than 3 because there were literally 3 small slices of banana, a teaspoon of what I guess was the custard pudding (there wasn't enough of it to taste) and dusted with what I guess was a powdered nut of some type. I like my desserts and was very disappointed with this plain banana bread ($8). In all honesty, I've had better banana bread from the grocery store. It was all cooked OK, just very misleading in the description.
Service was great, all in all. However, when my server brought out my water, there were floating dirt/food particles in it. I requested another glass. Also, my filet mignon was over cooked and WAY too salty (what’s up with that?). The potatoes were the best part of the meal, but you can’t go wrong with potatoes, really. At any rate, the service was great. The food...mediocre. Maybe it was a bad night in the kitchen, I don’t know. Not impressed.
My wife’s birthday and Valentine’s Day was the next day.
Made reservations for an early Valentine's dinner on February 10. Staff members we're very accommodating during the reservation process as I asked to have flowers delivered ahead of time. The flowers were on the table when we arrived and the food was excellent! Great service too! Overall a wonderful evening.
It's a great place to bring your wife. Kinda expensive for just a date. Perfect for your wife. Our food description didn't sound good, but when it came to the table. It was off the chain. Really great service and food.
This was our first visit and I must say we were very impressed. Service to food was top notch . The brussel sprouts were amazing and the chef donut was the perfect amount of sweet to finish off the meal.
Good food great service.
Excellent the best steak I have had in a long time cooked to perfection
All in the business group were extremely pleased
Everything was lovely. Had out of town company and they were very impressed.
This was a third visit to Central for my husband and me having traveled to Montgomery yearly for the last 3 years to watch our son play ball. Each time we have enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere that still felt fun vibrant and current. We enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and had plenty of time to drink it. Never felt rushed to order. Shared the Brussel sprout salad as a starter-very tasty and healthy to boot. We both ordered the Bricken chicken which was very flavorful and very much a comfort food -perfect for a chilly early February night. Highly recommend this jewel of a restaurant.
This was our second trip to Central. The food and service were very good both times. My problem is with the cost. For two people to have a drink and dinner, $175 Including tip is too steep. The issue this time was we skipped an appetizer, but were offered salads when we ordered entrees. We said yes. A brussell sprout salad was $10 and a normal beet salad was $16. So we got upsold for $26 of salads. I had a feeling that we'd get charged something, but the full price seems excessive. Again, the food is great. The service is great. Cost is just too high to make it a regular stop.
Went to Central with a group of 15. They had the reservations correct, the service was wonderful and the food and drinks were all excellent. Our group will go there again.
This is one of my favorite local restaurants, and I always enjoy eating here. The only issue I had on this visit was a little disappointment with the charcuterie board. The cheese was great, the meat and fruit was poor.
We eat here atleast 4 times a month the only thing I would love for them to get is White zinfandel wine!!!
Always a great environment for business meetings. Enjoy the food and ambiance. Prices are sometimes steep for what you get. And I miss the bread service. But I go every time I get a chance to stay in montgomery for work. Elevated dining experience.
This was the second time I’d eaten at Taste in a very short period of time. The first time didn’t go all that well and I wasn’t super impressed. I am SO GLAD I gave it another shot!!!!! The second time was fantastic and the food and service were on point. I’ll be back!!!
