The gougeres were pleasant enough, but once it was clear (pun intended) that the 'French Onion Soup' was simply some weak stock with onions tossed in and some cheese thrown on top - it was clearly time to leave - so we did. They accepted that the soup was sub-par and didn't charge for it.
We only bring our out-of-town guests to Central and they’re always impressed! Great food, superb service, big city buzz, always impresses.
Always have a great dining experience at Central. Jalal made some fantastic recommendations, and really helped make our evening!
We went for the brunch. The Eggs Benedict was perfect and the side of bacon delicious. Thank goodness they have valet parking. We look forward to having dinner there soon.
Amazing service and food, there is not a way to leave this place without feeling very good about choosing to spend an evening celebrating there.
Central is always delightful, delivering fine dining alternatives, and creatively raising comfort foods to the level of an art form. Be sure to try the Ahi Tuna Carpaccio starter. It was was delicious, and the Halibut special with carrots, celery puree and zucchini cake was wonderful.
The restaurant was absolutely perfect for us because of the diverse menu and expense spectrum. Everyone in our party of six was very pleased with their food choices from appetizer, cocktail , entree and dessert. Our waiter was both efficient and personable.
Celebrating my sister's birthday and they didn't disappoint. Everyone loved the dinner. The celebration cake is a must have!
Love, love this restaurant. Food is inventive while retaining that "comfort food" feel. Service is great. Only drawback is that it is loud, but can still carry on a conversation.
From beginning to end, the service was attentive and informative. Cousine was upscale bistro.
Birthday sparkler not just a candle .
Excellent experience .
Exceptional food and service, as always. My only issue is the noise level which is loud and sometimes difficult to carry on a conversation. But the quality of food and service are incomparable.
Delicious food especially the fried chicken, eclectic menu, good service. I come here every time I visit DC and am never disappointed.
Surprisingly fantastic. We came for brunch and food was way better that expected. Highly recommend & I will be back.
I could not believe it but I had the worst burger that I have ever had in DC in life at this place. The place was packed with business people and this was my first time visiting. I typically hang at Del Frisco's or Fogo across the street but saw this on the corner and decided to give it a try. I asked for medium rare and the burger was dry and chewy on the outside. It was actually difficult to cut through and the seasoning was terrible. I was so disappointed that I had wasted $20 on a burger that tasteless but the wine was good. I was shocked that the place was so packed and figure the other food must have been decent but good gracious, it was truly the worst burger of my life.
Excellent food and very nice place. I took my fiancee there on proposal day and everything was perfect! i definitely recommend!
By the way, I am French and I also seriously recommend this place for the quality of the food, and it felt so good to enjoy the bread!
The food was exceptional! There were many kitchen and table workers to assure a perfect dining experience, e.g., each course of food was staged with exact timing.
Brunch was amazing!
Great food. Definitely go for the banana split for dessert.
The food is phenomenal, but you will definitely pay for it. I feel like the menu was better on my first visit here, but the staples are still unquestionably delicious. Don't skimp on dessert!
The overall service was underwhelming. The server was slow to our table and hard to hear with the noise. It took a long time for our server to get to our table when seated and we received bread so late that the food arrived two minutes later. I expected better.
Someone recently asked me what my favorite restaurant was and I automatically replied “Central” because the food is always exceptional, the service is attentive, and I can conduct a business or social engagement knowing it will be perfect. Central is my “go to” establishment.
We had a really good time at Central. The food was great, from the cheese puffs to the chocolate bar. The filet mignon tartare was a real highlight. My duck confit was a little saltier than I expected (I'm not a salt guy), but it was still very tasty. My wife's lamb was terrific top to bottom. The service was excellent and the waitress was very helpful. If anything, they moved through the meal a little too fast. I think they are used to serving a higher volume, so they were pretty fast paced, even though the restaurant was not full. And then, at the end, they made us wait for the check with little to do but pick at the desserts that we planned to take home anyway. But I'm quibbling. Excellent experience; very reasonably priced; and highly recommended.
Awesome!!!! Go and try it if you have not done so!!!
We were celebrating an award that my son was receiving. Our waiter was the best. He helped to make the meal extra festive including a special dessert with a sparkler! The food was fabulous and the prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
Pork cheeks, burrata, Caesar salad, corpse reviver cocktail all delicious. Server gave good recommendations but could have been more personable. Left my jacket and they called within minutes to tell us. Overall had an excellent time and even if it isn’t trendy anymore, it is still a great experience.
Our second time here for Sunday Brunch. The food was good and worth the price. Our server was just okay. We were hungry and she just kept doing one thing and walking away which got to be frustrating. However, the manager on duty, Chung was personable, professional and willing to go above and beyond to make our experience an enjoyable one. He visited our table often to check on us. He ensured we were aware when valet closed and he even played with the baby! We appreciated his friendly demeanor and his professionalism. We hope all manager can exude these qualities.
He almorzado en varias ocasiones y por primera vez voy al Brunch quedando igual de satisfecha y complacida. Me encanta!
We were in town so decided to stop by for brunch. The chicken and waffles was very nice, the syrup was spicy, so it didn't make the dish sweet. Loved the eggs benedict, though my one complaint is that the candian bacon, while amazing, overpowered the egg and sauce a bit. Got a corpse reviver, amazing! Their bread is also very good, crispy but soft on the inside. Very nice experience, will come again.
My favorite restaurant in DC! Food is always great, service outstanding, and the price is right!
We got the Pre-Theater menu before a movie nearby. Although we had been here before, the food was incredibly good and even better than our previous visit. We will come more frequently now, as the staff also responded so positively to my request for a quiet table. This restaurant should be highly recommended as we are in the service business too and our experience here was completely impressive. Our thanks to the attentive staff!
My wife and I ordered the theatre pre fixe meal. The food was very good. Our only complaint was the noise level in the restaurant.
Good restaurant carpaccio with mango reccomended
The flavor of the food has decreased since I was there last year
I made a reservation me and three of my girlfriends for a Valentine’s Day dinner. From the moment we sat down it was nothing short of amazing. Our server, Boris, was AMAZING. Every time I come back, I will always sit with him. He made sure we wanted for nothing. Please make sure this gets back to him, we love him!
Very disappointing experience. Was our Valentine's Day dinner and unfortunately the restaurant experience did little to make it special. First: waiting literally 15 minutes for the valet to appear. Secondly: service was incredibly slow and inattentive. Here's a hint: VD is usually a busy dinner night, Central! Not only did it take forever to take our order, we ended up waiting neatly 20 minutes for the main course to arrive following the appetizers. (Thank you to the waiter for the apologies and the extra wine refill.) When it did arrive, the food was cold... yay, that means it was sitting. Compounding this, neither the duck nor the salmon dish was very imaginative or very tasty. The desert *looked* spectacular, but was rather tasteless as well. In short, I guess I'm not surprised I was able to secure a reservation to Central for VD... apparently people knew to stay away.
Valentine day dinner w the wife. They called three times to confirm the reservation, twice asking for credit card in case we cancelled. And we probably should have. Not nearly what the place used to be.
We ordered the tasting menu w wine pairing for one. Bill w tax and tip came to $250. The crab appetizer was brilliant. The main ‘surf and turf’ of filet mignon and lobster tail was just the opposite. Chef recommended medium for the filet (relunctantlybagreed) and it came well (not even a shade of pink). We thought we were getting a tail but instead got a ‘tail equivalent’ mixed with a substance that did not go down well. Big disappointment.
Chocolate covered sponge cake w fruit (shaped like a heart) made a nice desert. Wine pairing was fine but the pours were stingy.
I really recommend the three course lunch special... really awesome foo.
Always consistent service and excellent food...
Brunch was fantastic. Had the 3 course meal and it was a ton of food. The chicken and waffles and scallion omlet are worth going back for. Highly recommended
