Central Michel Richard Ratings and Reviews
We really enjoyed our three-course, $28 brunch at Central. Each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The lemon "egg" for dessert was amazing - a white chocolate outer "shell" filled with lemon meringue. It really looked a hard-boiled egg that had been cut in half!
Brunch was so good we're thinking of returning for dinner sometime.
The food was delicious! I had the pre-theater menu which is a great value for DC. We all had the goat cheese caesar salad which was so good! I could have made a meal just out of that! The salmon was great. The chocolate bar dessert was great - not so much the raspberry pistachio. Wine list is impressive - lots of new labels. Service started out great and then our server kind of forgot about us. I would definitely go back and recommend. Want to go back for that burger and fries!
We had a lovely meal here and the service was fabulous. The food was very good and well paced. Our waiter, Marco, was excellent , making sure our wine glasses always had wine and checked to make sure we had everything we needed. The food was delicious and came the way we ordered it. We would highly recommend this restaurant, location good for many areas in Washington.
I hesitated to go here because I thought it was one of THOSE restaurants, you know, the type that I'd feel really uncomfortable at because everyone would be so snooty. When I looked at the brunch menu and realized I could actually afford to go here, I was really excited. The experience was wonderful, the food was amazing and the prices were reasonable. I'm definitely going back and will be telling my friends to consider it an option! Thanks Central Michel RIchard
I’ve lost track how many times my wife & I have eaten here. I was last here October 2016 & both food & service were very different from previous experiences. Michel Richard had recently passed away & it was almost like all the standards left with him. This time around though, food was amazing, service was stellar & the wine recommendations were impeccable. My wife & I will absolutely be back again.
Our table was next to the kitchen and it was interesting to watch the activity. We ordered off the pre-theater menu and I have 2 complaints about the food. The salads seemed to have been taken right out of the refrigerator. They were noticeably cold, including the cherry tomatoes. That is not good. The fried chicken was very tough to cut and touch to chew. Other than those significant issues the rest of the food was good (including the fried chicken crust) and the service was attentive, but not overly so.
The food was outstanding! Really appreciated the affordable valet parking right at the front door. It's so hard to find open parking lots! Food presentation was perfect. Seating was appropriately spaced. Service was not that great. I had to ask for water refills, dessert menu, coffee, etc. The waitress did not know the menu very well and could not explain some of the items. Other than that - I would definitely go back.
Popped in for brunch with family this past weekend. Pre-meal bread was delicious, coffee was meh (and they seemed to have an ongoing problem with the design of all their spouts which spilled all over the table several times), and meal was yummy but at least the eggs benedict weren't extraordinary or anything. Would probably come back if I was in the neighborhood, but wouldn't prioritize.
Was recommended to visit this amazing French restaurant by a friend and I will be recommending it myself over and over again. Service was top notch, the food was even better than I expected (two words, "fried chicken") and it was a very enjoyable dining experience. We are looking forward to returning soon. Ambiance is 4 out of 5 stars simply because it the location makes it a fairly "cozy" restaurant to eat in, but that is expected of your typical DC location. Located just down the street from the White House, this is a great place if you are in the area. The evening we were there (Saturday) they were offering valet parking for $10, which ends up being cheaper than most of the parking garages unless you get a spot on the street, so that is a welcome bit of convenience for those used to the logistical nightmares that come with dining in DC.
Visiting DC with family and celebrating a birthday. Always loved Michel Richard and his restaurants! Central did not disappoint. From the French cheese puff pastries to the burgers, rotisserie chicken and lemon curd dessert... all was wonderful!!
I feel as though I visited a different restaurant than other reviewers, except for the noise.
I ordered the pre-theatre menu. The Goat Cheese Caesar Salad was very good; interesting concept and good combination of flavors and textures. I do not understand why the fried chicken is so popular. The chicken itself was moist but the breading is SO thick and, once it gets a little cooled off, gummy. The mashed potatoes were greasy from the chicken. The gravy boat of honey mustard sauce added a nice flavor, once you took off the breading. The pistachio raspberry tart was disappointing. My waiter and other staff were perfect; allowed me to eat, filled my water, would love to eat there again just for that service. It is a VERY noisy and busy restaurant. The couple next to me had a hard time hearing each other.
I may visit again but would definitely order a different meal.
Loved the creative food. The chicken lemon burger with the interesting toppings, crispy potato, caramelized onion, tomato and jalapeño aioli was really great. The signature fried chicken was amazing! We were a little disappointed when we were shown to the very back table in the large room, even though we were among the first to arrive for lunch. The hostess had no problem giving us another table, at our request.
We had had an amazing dinner at Central . We went there for a pre Marine Corps marathon meal and were delighted to see a number of pre race meals available. The staff was gracious and the food was delicious and fresh. The desert was creative and delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Dupont Circle vicinity!
