Went to lunch for Restaurant week. First time here and food was really good.
Delicious! Nice veggie choices for me and my husband loves the fried chicken.
Fried chicken was way overhyped. The best thing about my meal was the free bread.
One of the best restaurants in DC for Restaurant Week! I highly recommend!
Thanks Central, for another perfect meal...! Exquisite food and exceptional service. And that new addition to your desserts...?...the bread pudding?... Don’t change a thing! You continue to be our #1 restaurant in D.C., and #1 in our hearts.
Brunch is wonderful! My friend’s and I plan to return in the near future with more friends.
While we aren’t regulars at Central, it has been our birthdays, anniversaries, send-offs choice for dinners over the last 10 years. So, again not “regulars” we are not newbies either and yet it feels like we get a worse and worse table and/or waiter each time we return, to the point where we will not be or hesitantly may be returning. This visit, we were seated at the table closest to the front door: brrr! And it wasn’t even that cold out. Our waitress was French and did us the favor of serving us occasionally. Lucky us. The food is still good, and honestly if they did take out, that would be the best of all worlds.
Outstanding food, great service! A wonderful time and I will be back.
Wonderful service and delicious food. Really lovely choice for a date night, and very convenient to other places, like Ford’s a Theatre.
Wonderful meal and an extremely attentive and helpful waiter. Definitely planning another visit. The PreTheater Menu was a great value
This place continues to be higher quality in every way.
The business lunch is a good value by DC standards. I have been twice, and the onion soup, fried chicken, and hamburger were delicious, and the salad had an excellent dressing. Impeccable service and good lighting.
Excellent food. Energetic atmosphere. Highly recommend for a business lunch.
As always, the food and service was phenomenal! Thank you!
So great - Food was amazing and our server was top notch
Nice place. Over priced
An absolute treat. It was a wonderful place for dinner. There were 3 of us having dinner and 2 are real Southerners. They were thrilled with the fried chicken. I had the hangar steak which was delicious. The small watercress salad on each dinner plate was a nice surprise and very tasty. Can't wait to return.
The restaurant has a pleasant interior (clean lines, high ceiling). However the hostess did not seem to recognize our reservation and did not convey to our waitress that this was a special occasion. The waitress gave little guidance to help our choices ("everything is good"), and lacked gracefulness and attentiveness, despite the fact that the restaurant was almost empty. This might have been due to the fact that it was an icy Monday evening.
Although well plated (see the fun to eat "Lemon eggceptional" dessert photo), some food was fine (calamari) while some did not meet basic expectations: In particular the loup de mer was highly disappointing (the fish did not taste fresh).
Unfortunately the overall experience was one that we will not keep fond memories of.
Central was down a notch, food arrived barely room temp. But best French in Washington for my modest dollars, so will be back and hopefully this was an off night.
I returned for the French Onion Soup and stayed for the Fried Chicken and Waffles. The French Onion Soup is complex and the only one I've ever been satisfied eating, with rich complex flavors without burying you in salt. The Chicken and Waffles were perfectly portioned and balanced, and the maple syrup had a slight kick to it that added a spectacular acid to the dish. The service was polite and extremely helpful. Our seat had a wonderful view into the kitchen and we got to see the deep care that went into each dish.
Felt portions were slim for the price. Went for brunch - the cinnamon bun was small and they gave me two macaroons for dessert. Presentation was two macaroons. Not even an attempt to decorate. Butternut squash hash was a pleasant surprise. Otherwise a disappointment.
Had a wonderful experience- great food, great service relaxed atmosphere- the best of the best!
Must try the fried chicken, frise salad, duck confit, the burger was amazing- desserts delicious! Sea bass revelatory!
Very efficient pre theater service. Good value on price fixe menu.
Excellent food and perfect for pre-theater. The fried chicken was exceptional!
The fried chicken is amazing. Terrific service from the host to the gentleman who took the plates from the table. Clearly a well oiled team. Kudos of course to the chef.
Went for lunch after visiting the museums. Had calamari, bacon and onion tart, and the special seafood pasta dish. The tart was the best dish, but the other dishes were grossly over salted. Unless one likes very salty food, I would pass on this restaurant.
Despite us calling to cancel, the hostess at this restaurant insisted on charging us 50/pp to make cancellation. My understanding at time of booking was that cancellation fee applied to only parties of six or more. I enjoy the food here and have been several times but will not reserve here again as god forbid, I get a cold and then get charged for having one.
The staff was very friendly and although busy on New Year's Eve it wasn't noticeable. Meaning, our dining experience was very pleasant, not noisy or distracting. My scallop dish was cooked to perfection, not rubbery or dry, but tender to cut with a fork and moist. I could left off the Truffles, didn't enhance my dish as suggested and I enjoyed the chocolate mousse. I do recommend warning guest that the Banana Split dessert is enough for 2 easily. We were shocked at the size... I guest an excellent deal for some. I would recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining at Central Michel Richard again.
Some of the best service I've had since starting my trip.
Such amazing waiting staff as well as incredible food made for a great dining experience.
My sea bass was very dry - below average. The ambience is very average - lighting is too bright. When my husband met us there he asked me if it is a café? I agreed that it feels like a casual cafe and has little to no ambiance. I think dimming the lights might help a lot. Not interested in returning although our waiter was happy and accommodating.
After four years since my last visit it’s fair to say that the place has grown tired. Let me be sure to pay complement to our server who did a nice job when she had time to attend to us..... that said it’s crazy to have a shortage of staff to attend to your guest in a fusion that is inline with the prices and expectations.
I can't say enough good things about Central Michel Richard. It has been a favorite for a long time. It features good food in a casual atmosphere. The servers are always personable and capable. Clarissa, our server on 12/28, was delightful. But here is the best part. I like a certain table and request it when I make a reservation. So far, they have always been able to accommodate my wish. Makes me feel quite special.
Decided to dine again at Central due to proximity to Fords Theater and good food. The waiter was wonderful, attentive, knowledgeable, and cognizant of our theater reservations. He accommodated my vegan requests and the menu offers a vegan coconut lentil dish that was scrumptious. Our waiter even had a fresh berry plate prepared for us per our request. We had an enjoyable meal and a very pleasant experience. Once again, Central did not disappoint.
The service here was excellent, and the food was flavorful and filling.
Never disappointed! Impeccable food and service. We love Central!! Try the fried chicken and cheese poufs!
Expected a lot more- terrible service! 1 of the three of us didn’t like the meal, left it, and the waiter never checked on us, refilled beverages, or asked for dessert. Took 15 minutes to get the check- we went pretheatre and almost missed the show- missed the meet & great...arrived 5:30 for reservation & couldn’t get out until 7:10 and they weren’t busy.
Great food but better yet best service we have experienced in a restaurant in DC in years
Second visit and consistently great. A "must" restaurant in DC.
The three course lunch special in an outstanding deal, and the salmon was superb. Michael took very good care of us.
Service was a bit slow. Sat at table for 15 min before a manager walked by and asked if anyone had taken a drink order since the waiter hadn’t showed up yet.
