Superb, pre-theater dining experience. Perfect calamari and a version of fried chicken to die for.

We absolutely love this place! It’s quickly becoming our favorite restaurant in DC. From the service, to the ambiance, to the professionalism, all the way to THE FOOD (Wow!) We are never disappointed and always leave talking about when we can go back. It’s that good! And Boris? He’s probably the best waiter we’ve ever had! Be sure to ask for him. He’ll make your visit so memorable!

VERY noisy place. Seems to be an “in” spot for the under 40 crowd. Salads were good. My companion ordered onion soup that was thin and watery, so we sent it back. Crab cake was OK, but there are better crab cakes in DC. I had steak tartare that was good but came with only one chip to eat it with. Had to ask for additional. Overall, meh.

For a vegetarian at a very French restaurant, the food was excellent. A bit of navigation on the menu was needed to enable more options than salads and sides and the one veg entree, but ample menu for slight tweaks to provide good choices. Frisée salad, minus the lardons, add truffles, was one of the best salads I’ve ever had. Very memorable for its simplicity and outstanding flavor and texture. Service was outstanding.

I brought a friend to Central because he is moving to DC from San Francisco, and I thought that this restaurant would be useful to get to know as a spot for casual, but delicious dining for business or just for fun. It didn't disappoint. He enjoyed the lunch special and proclaimed everything delicious. I had a burger, fabulous as always. Service was attentive without being cloying.

The food was FABULOUS and beautifully presented! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even though it was a busy lunch day, the noise level was comfortable. I honestly can't wait to go back & try something else!!!

Another supposedly good restaurant that I found disappointing. The noise level was almost intolerable especially since we were seated in a small dining room in back of the kitchen that had a very loud (and probably drunk) party of 8. The food was just OK, nothing particularly special and certainly not good enough for me to bother going back.

Everything was great except for the noise level -- difficult to have a conversation -- something unfortunately shared by most American restaurants. We need restaurants with a Cone of Silence option for its patrons :)

The famous fried chicken is very odd. It has a multi-layered bready coating that is crispy on the outside, weirdly gummy on the inside, and surprisingly flavorless. Underneath is chicken that has been marinating far too long in something. The texture had become unrecognizable as chicken. Onion soup is fine but not great. Drinks were unremarkable. At this price point, there are much, much better options in town.

We loved this restaurant about 2 - 3 years ago when we had the best bolognese sauce ever. But it has declined quite a bit since then. This time we ordered the rotisserie chicken and it had to be sent back because it was too salty and not edible. We noticed another table did the same. While I appreciate the manager taking it off our bill, that combined with the lack of proper service soured my experience. The celebration cake had no real flavor. The cake was tasteless and the chocolate it was wrapped in was not high quality chocolate.

I don't think I'd go back to Central unless I was just to order a drink and a burger at the bar.

Very disappointed. I had wanted to go here for many years. We went as a post-theater celebration after enjoying Mean Girls. The best selection was the French crusty and warm bread which is made in Virginia. The best menu selection was the short ribs. Two of us had the salmon which was "fishy" tasting even with the curry sauce. The duck was overcooked. So sad about this experience.

Excellent food. We had the special boudin blanc appetizer with white truffle. It was amazing. I had the pork cheeks, which I've had before, also amazing - fork tender. The hanger steak was also great and cooked perfectly. Both burgers were excellent as well. Dessert was a bunch of MR's kitkat bars. Great value.

I have been here 3X and while the food is great the portions would be too small for most men appetite.
Of course burger and fries and chicken & mash potato are filling dishes. But the average person can eat more than 3 scallops.

We enjoyed the pre-theater menu, which had many of the items we were considering from the regular menu. The food is well-prepared and inventive. The portion sizes are ample, and the desserts are wonderful. Although the restaurant was full, we were able to hear each other speak, thanks to curtains and other noise-attenuating features. The servers were friendly and informative. It is a welcoming, casual environment, to which we look forward to returning.

Had the Thanksgiving prix fixe: Duck confit on chestnut risotto with roasted plums. Companion had a perfectly seared salmon over squash. Fantastic three course meal with generous portions. At 58 per person, a great value also. Service was spot on. Looking forward to a return visit for the full menu. Bravo!

Went for Thanksgiving dinner. Food was overall very good- deserts were spectacular. Perfectly cooked turkey and steak. Great stuffing. Delicious sauce with the salmon. A few big misses- dry salmon; potatoes that tasted like they had dirt in them (literally, not metaphorically). Appetizers- soups and salads were perfect. Chocolate bar was something special. Pumpkin pie was great. Service was good.

The food was average and bland. While presentation was above average, the food itself was lukewarm and lacked flavor. We ordered three distinct meals and all three were nowhere near the standard I would expect for this level of restaurant. We were looking forward to an exquisite meal - even desert, we tried the bread pudding, seemed to have not been made soaking the raisins the night before in rum — as result, much like the rest of the meal, even that lacked flavor.

The food was amazing but our server was not. From the time we sat it took him 15 mins before he came to the table then 10 mins before he came back to take the drink order? He always seemed to busy to bother with us and we kept having to ask the assistant wait staff ( who took care of the water and bread etc) to find him. The place was VERY loud and the drinks were good except WAY TOO much ice in the Mules!

We invited friends to Sunday brunch. The food was excellent. Seating near the door was not comfortable because a cold breeze hit us every time another group came in. After we were seated our server disappeared from sight for an extraordinary amount of time. She was very indifferent, unengaged and probably would be fired from an Applebee's. Our group was large enough that the gratuity was included, so perhaps she saw no incentive in being friendly and attentive.

Enjoyed dinner at Central. We ordered off the theater menu which includes salad, entree and dessert for one price. The noise level in the restaurant was loud and distracting and tables were close together. Dinner was tasty and service was excellent. My water glass was full throughout dinner and my cosmopolitan was chilled and the best I have ever had! I was too embarrassed to ask for salt which was not on the table. I might have given 5 stars with salt and less noise otherwise we had a great experience.

We really enjoyed our three-course, $28 brunch at Central. Each course was delicious and beautifully presented. The lemon "egg" for dessert was amazing - a white chocolate outer "shell" filled with lemon meringue. It really looked a hard-boiled egg that had been cut in half!
Brunch was so good we're thinking of returning for dinner sometime.
