This restaurant has amazing, amazing food. We had a soup (gazpacho), 2 entrees (scallops, duck confit), and they were all just perfect. The cheesecake was fine, but the other desserts looked amazing. The restaurant looks like the continental breakfast area of a Holiday Inn, so I think it's safe to say there's no need to dress up. Just come ready to be blown away by amazing food.
Food and service were amazing, but the decor and ambiance were dated.
The goat cheese Caesar salad is a must have. We have been here twice now and we love it when we come to the city. The scallops are excellent as is the risotto. My husband thought the duck was too crispy for him but the accompaniments were excellent. I skipped the lemon egg-ceptional this time and went with the cheesecake which was awesome.
Food was mixed--- and waiter was terrific but service was not... waited a long time for our main course...
The restaurant was very accommodating as we switched our reservation to an earlier time a couple of hours before we were supposed to arrive. We lucked out -- by going earlier, we got the pre-theater offer, which made our evening very reasonable, price-wise. It was also quieter, which made it much easier to hear. The food was very good.
Excellent choice of classic menu options, always beautifully presented, in a vibrant stylish atmosphere with friendly, professional, and welcoming service. Always a hit!
Friend and I had the lunch special—3 courses for $24.50. My yellow gazpacho with burrata was creamy and delicate. The fried chicken breast was prepared sous vide first with a final coating of fresh bread crumbs, dropped in the fryer for only 2 minutes, reported our server, so it wasn’t greasy. And the coconut sorbet sundae was a wonderful finish. Would definitely return for other options. Our server initially talked us out of the salmon, saying the fried chicken was so good, and we agreed.
We had the dinner special and it was fantastic! The service was excellent.
Excellent food, excellent service. The fried chicken was marvelous.
Excellent food and services. The fried chicken was the bomb.
Everything was great. Food and service.
Went here over the other nameable steakhouses and this one really hit the mark! Steak was cooking perfectly and my thick cut pork chop was amazing! Great meal for 2 and less then $100, great choice! As a side note, probably one of the best mashed potatoes I've ever had! Will recommend this 100%!
We are long time eaters at Central but were very disappointed this time. The good was not hot when it came, and it came much too quickly as we were having drinks. The crispy outside of the chicken special of the house was too spicy, and both the dressings on the salad and the sauce for the potatoes were way too spicy. Very disappointing.
Upon arriving, we were told our table would be delayed about 15 minutes. We ended up waiting closer to 45 but the staff was so attentive and apologetic. They brought us some delicious appetizers and a ton of free food. While it was an inconvenience, we couldn't possibly be mad because the staff was so nice and accommodating.
Busy, vibrant spot with a great wine list (including by the glass) and a diverse menu. It's noisy so don't come for a quiet, romantic dinner. Do come for attentive service, delicious food, and some fun people watching. I will definitely return! There is more on the menu that I'd like to try. The seared salmon was delicious.
Excellent food. The service was top notch - from the server Stephanie, the sommelier and the Sous-Executive Chef Anoop. Really excellent. Keep it up.
Central never disappoints. We love the variety of the menu and the food was outstanding. This was our first time sitting outside and the service was a bit scattered- hard to get a waiter when we sat down. Eventually it evened out but not a great start. This will NOT steer us away from one of our favorite restaurants in D.C.!
The food is absolutely tasty! Enjoyed outside seating although is was extremely windy that evening, but, excellent dining experience! The servers are very polite and friendly.
It was my birthday. The service was okay, and the steak was a little undercooked, but overall it was really good.
I took my visiting cousin there for dinner along with my adult niece( who is a very fussy eater) we all had a wonderful meal. The fried chicken was light and crispy. The skirt steak was prepared to perfection. And the linguine with clam sauce, prepared in a saffron broth was exquisite! It was a little pricey but well worth it.
I've lived in the area for 15 years and I cannot believe I never went to Central Michel Richard before. I always thought it was going to be too pricey. In fact, for DC, it's a very reasonable price, particularly for how truly outstanding the food is. We had oysters and the cote de boeuf, with sides of potato gratin and brussel sprouts. Everything was amazing. In particular, I recommend the cote de boeuf. They bring you the full roast to show it to you so that you can approve and then take it away to slice it up into super thin slices. But when they go away, you're briefly so sad and anxious -- because it looks so amazing and you want to eat it right away! But the slicing actually adds to the experience. Truly a special occasion meal.
Very well-made and thoughtful versions of classics updated for modern tastes.
The Service was excellent - attentive without being intrusive.
The noise level is much too high. Added to that was unwanted music of some sort
The tables are a bit too close together
Between three of us we had the Loop de Mer, Michels Fried Chicken, and the Hanger Steak. All three were perfect, the only issue was, that no room was left for the wonderful deserts. Amy was terrific taking care of us, friendly and efficient. Central is one of our regular stops, that never fails to please.
Brunch menu is a great value for DC. Great portions. Delicious food.
We organized a group of 20. We found the restaurant to be very accomodating for our constraints. I would recommend others check out this spot.
Favorite Spot in DC. I look forward to going to DC for a weekend event just to have Brunch at Central. The food is AWESOME and the service is SUPERB!
alwatd delicious food, great service. They care about their patrons. we love Cewntral
I was Looking forward to dining here...friends recommended.
Servers running all over the place not giving you a lot of attention...Managers stopped by checking in which was great. Then when they forgot about our dinner waiter went into panic mode & managers were in hiding.
For a restaurant like this very surprised the managers left waiter on his own & never addressed the situation... 45 minutes with no food after appetizer.
Food ok...
Table looked at waiters and registers...
Factory ...not a restaurant
Restaurant was good, but feels a little past its prime. We went on a busy Saturday evening and felt like we were rushed in and pushed along so that they could turn the table. It was incredibly loud and busy.
The food was fabulous, the service was very fast, almost too fast. If you are celebrating an occasion (or not) try the celebration cake (quite spectacular).
Still my favorite restaurant in D.C., and since we’re moving west, we decided to make this our “last supper in D.C.” The gourgeres (cheese puffs) were lovely as always. The French Onion Soup was the way French Onion Soup should be: hearty, winy, oniony, with a luscious crouton topped with melted cheese. My partners had the steak tartare, which they declared to still be the area’s best. Since this was our last visit, i splurged on the fried chicken, which put everyone else’s to shame, especially nestled on a bed of velvety smooth mashed potatoes. Sheer heaven! For dessert, we split the Michel Richard chocolate bar and a creme brûlée. Both were fabulous. Cocktails were wonderful; even the manhattan that the server accidentally spilled all over my sleeve, while the manager was chatting with us. It happened so suddenly, all we could do was laugh. Needless to say, the server and manager were beside themselves, and they comped a good part of our tab. Everything about the meal — including our seat beneath the mural of the late, great Michel Richard, was fabulous. We will miss this wonderful place!
One of the best meals we've had anywhere, any time. Inventive takes on classics, such as the parcel of lamb shank and the lemon meringue deconstruction. The service was top notch with very well-paced delivery of the courses. Had to buy the cookbook, after such a positive experience.
Fantastic restaurant with excellent service and food!
Delicious!
I was visiting my son downtown and we decided to make a day of it. Went to Central for lunch and was conflicted to what to order. The Burgers looked great as they pasted by, but I decided to be on the healthier side. I had the seared salmon and it was cooked perfectly! My son had the chicken Caesar salad with goat cheese and he enjoyed it. I need to go back and try the burger.
Awesome Fried Chicken with a great bottle of Gruner!
I met former clients here for dinner, never having met them before. They were touring DC and this was a perfect place to go: a menu with something delicious for everyone in an environment that's always energetic. In fact, the restaurant was PACKED and yet our service was still excellent and our dishes were super tasty. Yes, there were a fair number of obvious tourists, but the space is still very well maintained and doesn't feel like a tourist trap. I hadn't been here in a few years and was very happy to feel like planing a repeat visit soon.
Had a great lunch catching up with an old friend. Food was delicious as always. Server was attentive but not obtrusive although we stayed a bit longer than a normal business lunch.
I had a fabulous meal, complemented, thanks to the sage advice of the sommelier, by an even more fabulous wine. This is a wonderful place to go with a group of friends. The service was attentive but not invasive and the food so delicious we each had to have a bite of the other's entree :) Thank you!
Ridiculously delicious desserts plus wine and smiles pictured.
