Central Michel Richard
So glad we made a reservation to request a table near the kitchen. My nephew (a middle schooler who loved cooking) loved seeing the sauces being made & desserts being prepped. The service was flawless and portions were generous for such delicate food (risotto was amazing). I was saying it would be a great place for a proposal or to impress an out of town guest. Valet parking eliminates stress for those coming in from NOVA or MD. Can’t wait to return.
I haven’t been to Central in years and I was worried that the fried chicken wouldn’t live up to my memory of it, but it was as delicious as ever! We also enjoyed the goat ceasar salad and cheese puffs.
Not as good as usual. My lamb pastilla was rather small and the sauce was too salty this time. My husband ordered lamb shank, but he was given bone with very little meat around it. If you’re charging $32 for the dish you should serve some meat, not just bone.
My husband and I did brunch here and it was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious. We did the unlimited brunch cocktails and they were NOT stingy with the drinks. The staff was friendly and prompt. This is a must-do when in DC.
I love a good brunch & this past Sunday did not disappoint. From the very beginning the service was amazing. The staff was so friendly and professional. The food was so good and with so many options it was hard to pick. I will definitely make this a regular brunch place for me!
We had a great time! The food and beverages were wonderful.
Fantastic service. Boris made the evening.
Had a great meal. Loved the pre/post theater options!
Service was a little slow, Friday night and the restaurant was only at about 40% capacity.
Best food!!! The fried chicken was the most delicious entree. The bread pudding was pretty amazing. Please get the goat cheese Caesar as it was spectacular. Great seating, easy for conversation and the wait staff was super attentive
Great food excellent service. Prompt in seating is when we arrived
The chicken dish was just as I remembered it, delicious!
Birthday .....god service!
I have to say that we have always loved Central. We were there Tuesday night with out of town friends and wanted to treat them to an amazing dinner. We always know you are a go for consistent food. I don't know what was wrong.. but it was a bad and embarrassing night. The salads were wilted and wrong dressing served. Nobody filled out glasses with water without asking, except that the one person who does not drink ordered a Perrier and the waiter poured in everyone glasses. so he did not have much. The Chicken which is always amazing, was sooo oily. The waiter overcharged for a Cesear Salad.. 18.00.? but I asked him quietly and he said that was the price. ( it is not). The hamburger was so overdone, not edible. We asked for mustard, never came. Even the amazing Celebration cake was melted. The coffee for our friends, decaf was ice cold. This was just a very bad experience and we were shocked and saddened.
We took a visiting friend to Central because it had been highly recommended by someone who used to eat there regularly. He had not been there for some time, however, and he was surprised by our less than memorable experience. The best parts were the excellent service and the convivial ambiance. The food was ok but none of the courses, nine between the three of us, stood out as testimony to Central's reputation--or to Michel Richard's legacy. Worst, conversation for catching up with friends was made nearly possible by the very high noise level.
Kind of boring menu options. Food was good but a bit pricey for the quality. Atmosphere nice. Have eaten here several times over the past 5 years and the quality is slowly slipping
I don’t think the hype around this place is deserved. The ambiance is way behind some lesser known DC restaurants. I would not recommend if you are looking for something unique and high-standing. A bit disappointed I must admit.
Went here prior to a concert at Capital One Arena, which is about 6-8 blocks away. Food, drinks and service were very good. Not really a good location for a quiet romantic dinner as it is fairly noisy. A little pricey, although the portions are quite large.
Overall, the food was very good. I thought the scallops were a tad over-salted and I like salt!
Our waiter while very attentive, was a little too loud and should respect table conversation without interrupting for inane reasons. Nonetheless, it was an enjoyable evening with delicious food
Wonderful! Food beautifully prepared. Service very attentive. Love this place even though it's a bit loud.
It's tough to make last minute reservations in DC on a Saturday night, but fortunately I caught a break and was able to get one for two people (walking distance from another restaurant I tried). And now I can say I have eaten at one of DC's award-winning restaurants. The service was excellent (attentive, but not overly so and no rush to turn over the table). Everything was artistically presented. My salad would have been better with soft goat cheese in the salad, rather than labneh inside the avocado. The deconstructed lemon meringue dessert was fun to look at and mix together, but could have used more lemon tartness. It was a lively atmosphere. The room could use some soundproofing as the chatter reverberates around the room making it hard to hear your tablemates.
With so many wonderful restaurants to choose from in DC, I would not bother to come back to Central. With prices at this level you expect linen table cloths and decor that is not so outdated. The food was just fine, but all could have used more salt. The service was again fine, but could have been less rushed.
From the service to dinner to dessert. Our experience was amazing! We will be back!
Food was excellent and service was A+ Tables were very tightly packed, and there wasn't a lot of atmosphere.
Told our server that we were there for a pre-theatre dinner (and we ordered from the pre-theatre menu) and service was lightning fast. The portions were larger than we can eat but they boxed it up for us and we made a nice lunch of it the next day. Definitely will be thinking of going here next time we have theatre tickets.
Convenient location and fantastic food. A chef that is able to make a vegetable dish that tasty is skilled. Went to the restaurant before going to the theater. We ordered from the theater menu. We had three courses and were still able to get out of the restaurant with ample time to be seated for our show.
The service and food are exceptional! I highly recommend! Thank you!
Good food as usual, and attentive service but very very very loud. Normal conversation was very difficult.
Once again, Central affirmed why it’s our top choice to host visiting friends. Yesterday was our first visit for brunch and we’ll be back often; four of us shared creme brûlée French toast, eggs benedict with salmon, shrimp and chorizo grits, chicken and waffles, and biscuits with gravy and eggs. Each dish was superb, much better than you’d find at a traditional brunch. Our guest in from Beaumont, Texas said “When we visit New Orleans we go to Brennan’s and this is just as good.” Mimosas and Bloody Mary s tied the ribbon around a memorable meal which we kept talking about while strolling to the museums to walk it off. Go for brunch, you won’t regret it.
Delicious from cocktails to dessert. Already planning to return.
Was not impressed at all. Was expecting so much more from a restaurant with a James Beard award.
Food was nothing special at all and service was average. I would not recommend or return.
Excellent food. A bit loud, but lots of energy and the vantage point of the kitchen was fantastic!
Excellent food and service but could use some sound-proofing -- difficult to have conversation over the noise.
ALTHOUGH MICHEL IS NO LONGER WITH US (AND WE MISS HIM DEARLY), CENTRAL IS STILL AN EXCELLENT GO-TO RESTAURANT IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE THEATER OR LOOKING FOR A QUICK MEAL. THE BEEF HAMBURGER AND TUNA BURGER,WITH FRENCH FRIES ARE EXCELLENT. DON'T EXPECT GOURMET DINING BUT YOU CAN EXPECT A SOLID MEAL & GOOD SERVICE. GM BRIAN Z. RUNS A TIGHT SHIP! CENTRAL HAS NEVER DISAPPOINTED ME! EXPECT CENTRAL TO BE QUITE BUSY, ESPECIALLY ON THE WEEKENDS.
Central is reliably very good. We have been there multiple times and the high quality of the food and the service has never wavered. The servers are quick and attentive. The food is delicious. The atmosphere - while the usual DC-loud - is comfortable and inviting. We had the fried chicken, which sounds plebeian, but here is heavenly. The Moroccan lamb dish was perfectly seasoned and delicious. Desserts are a treat. Save room!
This will be your life. BCMRFC and ACMRFC. Before Central Michel Richard Fried Chicken and After Central Michel Richard Fried Chicken. The best part of your life will be DURING eating the fried chicken. Life changing.
Came here for a bday brunch ..had a reservation...we were seated pretty quickly then the server forgot all about our party . We had to stop a manager to get him to bring our drinks and take our order !!
Very pleased with service for our brunch. Excellent bloody Marys.
Excellent food. A little nosier than I like, but not too bad.
