Had a good dining experience. Service was in point and food was delicious. Had the Pork Pate with a toasted bread (little burned) a pork chop super yummy and great duck confit entree. Will go back.
For locals this place has become underwhelming- everything on their menu over the past two years has been underwhelming and not worth the value. The service- in particular one waitress, Lisa- is the only reason we pop in on occasion. I think the bank on tourists who come in for a one off experience.
Great foods as always.
Good value for happy hour drinks.
Seasonal dinner menu is delicious with a variety of selections. Vegetable dishes/courses are my favorite.
The service was good and the scallops were great but their recommendation for the thin pork chops were tough and dry. Desserts were ok not great.
This was our second visit to Central Market. The flavors are superb. This time shared small plates and the entree. Although we live in Sonoma CM is well worth drive.
Wonderful restaurant and excellent service. My only comment would be the noise level. This was my second visit to Central Market and this time I requested a quieter area. The booth for 4 was lovely, but we still had to raise our voices to hear each other in conversation. I wish there was something that could be done to dampen the acoustics! But, I will return! The food is just amazing and the service was fantastic!
One of the best restaurants we have visited during this past year. The food and service were all superb. We will be back.
Loved everything about this place. Welcoming, great service and delicious food - fresh, innovative, perfectly executed.
quality has gone way done over the years....too much meat now in everything
An absolutely wonderful meal at Central Market tonight.
The highlight of our meal was our server, Alexis, who had mad people skills, deep knowlege of each item on the menu, an ability to blend menu items to create a virtual prix fix menu for 3 with incredible choicies and without a food overload. And a great sense of humor.
Started with half a dozen oysters and the grilled calamari atop a romescso sauce. OMG!
The salad course was sharing one portion of the little gem lettuce with chunks bacon, and hidden bits of blue cheese. One of my ongoing favorites here.
We had three different mains - short ribs, duck, and pork Milanese from the owners farm-raised heirloom pigs (another favorite that I’ve been jonesin’ for forever.)
And two desser a plum gallette with a bit of whipped cream and an off-the-menu dessert of two kinds of sorbet - Chocolate and Banana(?) with a raspberry sauce and a piece of banana.
The food was fantastic. There was a mix up between the restaurant and Open Table however. I had added two people to the reservation on line but somehow the restaurant didn’t get the update. They were very accommodating and served us all anyway.
This is clearly one of the finest restaurants in Petaluma. Every changing menu to reflect what's new, fresh and local. Very interesting presentation and combination of ingredients - not odd, just well done.
Fine wine list and attentive waiters.
(They have NOT been known for their service in the past, so we were pleased to have good service - maybe because we requested a high-top toward the back.)
One of our favorite places! Great appetizers and mains. Simple to more elaborate dishes. Loved the duck confit!
Exceptional food, service, and ambiance. Well worth the drive.
Alexis was our server and gave wonderful recommendations. We shared the oysters, the unusual fabulous corn, the sautéed calamari that had a bit of a char and less greasy than most, the scallops that were cooked perfectly as well as the spinach and mashed potatoes and the butterscotch pot of cream that came with a macaroon making it a perfect dessert. It was a spectacular meal!!!!
We had my birthday dinner at Central Market and it was excellent as usual. Chef Tony put out a steady stream of great tasting, hand-crafted food from appetizers (surprisingly tasty zucchini strings and excellent grilled calamari) to dessert (plum galette!)
My friends and I celebrated my birthday and Tony was so kind and generous. Our meal began with a starter of zucchini strings, totally addictive,we ordered a second one.
We had a fun sampling of starters, steak and halibut. All were fabulous with distinctive flavors. Don’t forget the incredible macaroons.
My friends who road the train from Santa Rosa to Petaluma we’re planning another visit by the end of our meal. Thank you Central Market for a very memorable experience
Great food choices well prepared and presented. We will return.
Since we are locals, we have been to Central Market many times. This last time was a bit disappointing. Service was very slow and not that attentive. Yes, it was a Sunday night at peak time, (reservations at 6 PM) and the place was full. But, restaurants need to adjust to peak hours and the reservations made so they can accommodate a full house easily. My step-daughter ordered the lamb cabbage rolls and they were tasteless. Would have been better to add pork and seasonings to the stuffing.
Great service and excellent food. We had the special and it was the Best steak we have had.
I asked the server about the scallops (being I always have bad luck with them at other restaurants) and he said, they were one of his favorite dishes. I decided to go for it and let me tell you I was NOT disappointed. For me probably the best I have eaten in a very, very long time. Will order them again!!! Central Market scallop fan for sure.
Central Market is casual yet upscale at the same time. Both the service and the food are excellent, with a diverse menu making it easy to find something certain to please everyone in your party. Our go to place for visitors for out of town and also for special occasions.
We ordered oysters and the waiter forgot to put in the order
Ate there for our anniversary and as always, the food was pretty amazing. We had shoestring squash for a starter - very tasty. I would have that dish over regular french fries any day. Our main dishes were wood fired sirloin steak and lamb stew. Both were quite delicious. I would have liked it if the pieces of lamb were bigger, they were pretty small about the size of a kidney bean. But the sauce itself was very good.
The service was really good and our waitperson was very attentive and really nice too.
Our dessert was a sumptuous plum galette - I could have eaten three or four servings yum!!
This is our second time at this restaurant and I highly recommend it to anyone.
I would disregard anything negative that you may have read on Yelp.
Outstanding food and service. The Halibut dish and Sea Scallop dish with garlic mash and spinach were so delicious I can’t wait to return!
Very welcoming staff! Excellent service ! Really delicious food!!!! The pork is amazing!!!
celebrated our daughter's 19th birthday dinner at Central Market...it's always a go to for outstanding food and service...worth every $$$...never ever disappoints...
Food was exceptional, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Service was great too!
Loved the fact that the chef visited the dining room several times during the evening, making personal contact with patrons. It felt good!
Had eaten here previously and sat at bar given we had no reservations . Had a very good meal time and as such really looked forward to this visit
Was somewhat disappointed
We were one of the first reservations and arrived on time
Service was of course fine at first but became frustratingly spotty later. First course- a gnudi app was spectacular! The halibut was dry, too crusty and small the vegetables were way over spiced and the shared butterscotch dessert tasted bland?
My wife’s spare ribs looked good she seemed fairly satisfied except for the aforementioned lackluster service
Again, space is wonderful
Food can be very good
Wine service was lacking - we waited and waited to order wine by glass for mains
May be back
We went for the very first time for our anniversary. The food was absolutely delicious. The noise level however was pretty high. But, we will be back!
Great meal from start to finish. We shared their little gems salad and I had short ribs with horseradish and gratin potatoes. My wife had scallops. Had a nice wine from very good list. Service was excellent. Great meal and experience. We will be back
Been there many times...this was first time in about a year. As usual food was very good. Service was slow. Had to ask for bread and water. Acoustics poor in the building and tables are too close together for comfortable conversation.
My meal and experience at Central Market was exceptional.
Great service, funky ambience and excellent and creative food. I had the spicy lamb cabbage rolls to start followed by the pork Milanese. I could have licked the plates.
Highly recommend and I will return often
Consistently great food, top notch service - everything truly fresh and delicious.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Central Market. It was a birthday celebration and we didnt want to rush and our waiter was very good about accommodating that. We had the lamb cabbage rolls as an appetizer - very tasty, and two of us had the scallops - delicious!!, one had the sausage dish and loved it and one had a fresh pasta dish with fava beans that was very fresh and simple. The wine list is quite interesting, but a bit on the pricey side so we brought our own bottle and paid the $25 corkage fee (again - a bit high). This restaurant is pretty loud, but the atmosphere is fun and somewhat casual which was just what we were looking for. Would definitely go again!
Love this place! The food is amazing and dessert was over the top - Valrohna chocolate tartlet with a crisp buttery shortbread crust was to die for! Our server seemed to be stretched a bit thin. Very nice but we found ourselves looking for him often for various things (red wine glasses, coffee we ordered, etc.). He was scrambling over a fairly large area and seemed like he knows what he was doing but was just too busy and didn’t seem to have much help. Would definitely go back!
Food was delicious and our waitress was very accommodating and attentive. It was my son's birthday so they put us in a booth and when they brought out the desert, they added a simple candle. He enjoyed not having such a fuss about it birthday and having it acknowledged. Will definitely go back!
The Manhattan chowder and halibut entree were outstanding. The watermelon soda was very refreshing on a hot night
