Entree portions small, a little too much oil used throughout.
What an amazing find in Petaluma. We were meeting friends who live in Sea Ranch and decided on "half" way. My friends all have enthusiastically told me what a find Central Market is, and I can attest it. The server we had was simply outstanding. She was incredibly patient with our friend who has many dietary restrictions. She remained pleasant and cheerful and never hurried us.
I only wish they were closer.
Outstanding restaurant with fresh local meats and produce and with a touch of nawleans. highly recommended. Chef RJ
Central Market is our top pick for special occasion dining. Chef Tony prepares exceptional dishes with local ingredients. Must try this restaurant when you are in Petaluma for dinner.
One of my favorite spots in Petaluma. The food is always tasty & creative!
Good food and service, interesting menu, but noise level on a
Saturday night was excruciatingly loud. Part of five at round table, could only hear those on either side with some effort.
A sure bet. Consistently excellent food and service.
Had the lamb shank which was PERFECTION and the pizza which was not well received by my husband as it was overwhelmed with arugula and the crust thin, with wood fired burnt crust, which is trendy now but he’s not a fan of any crust with black on it. We were both disgusted by the filth on the wind curtain at the entrance. We almost left before we entered because of it. I would recommend having extra curtains that you can switch out and have cleaned as needed. We received a complementary dessert for his birthday which we truly appreciate it and it was extremely tasty.
It was our first visit but it won't be our last. The staff was great and very helpful. We went there for restaurant week, we like to try new places each year. We were told that restaurant week was over for them, which we did not understand since it was saturday night and it was to go till sunday. The waitress went and talked with the chef who said he would do the restaurant week menu for us at the stated price. We were very happy to get this information. The food was great! We ordered the fried chicken livers and they were to die for-tender, tasteful, melted in your mouth! The grilled vegetables were very tasty and you received a large serving. I had the mussels, they were large and very tender. I brought the leftover broth home to have the next day. My husband had the grilled sausage with the polenta which was really good. The polenta was crisp on the outside and creamy on the inside. YUM! He brought half of it home for the next days lunch there was so much. For dessert we had the butterscotch pudding which came with 2 cookies that melted in your mouth. So good. We were so full when we were done. We can't wait to go back again. It is well worth the drive from santa rosa to have dinner at this place!
Dinner was AMAZING!! Food was so darn delicious, service was great, ambiance was fun. Loved it!
It was my first time dining at Central Market. I made a reservation not knowing what to expect, and once I got there was glad I did because the place was quite busy. The hostess was very friendly and offered me a choice of tables and it wasn’t very long before the waitress greeted me to start the experience. I chose six oysters from Hog Island and the scallops with a glass of Pinot Noir, all of which were spectacular. After the meal was a great cup of coffee and an honored request of a side of butter that was delicious. Easily a five-star experience.
We had a wonderful meal during restaurant week. We both had the roasted vegetable plate (veggies nicely grilled and a delicious sauce), the mussels (divine well seasoned broth), the butterscotch pot de creme. Service was very good and we really liked the simple interior design. Loved everything.
Truly a local gem, the food doesn’t get any better. Every last detail was great from the food to the service.
I have had dinner at Central Market many times because I consider the food top shelf with an emphasis on farm to fork. Tony raises his own pigs and provides vegetables from his garden as well.
Tony even mingles with his customers and is always making sure that everyone is happy and having a memorable dining experience. The menu is expansive and every dish outstanding, service excellent. Being a “foodie” I have tried so many Sonoma and Napa County restaurants and Central Market is one of my favorites.
Had dinner to celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary!! We love Central Market, everything about it...the food, the service and the overall experience.
The food here is perfection! Tony is the most creative chef in Petaluma!!! We would be lost without him!
With a stellar restaurant like Central Market in town, it is hard to go anywhere else.
Recently celebrated a birthday there... We sat in the corner window seat so we felt like we had a private room. Wait staff is excellent. They know just how to be attentive to the max without being intrusive and perfectly paced our meal. It was great to share a bunch of apps and an entree with my date... love the glass and a half pour! If you like spicy, the Wagu beef skewer has a bit of a kick and the roasted Brussel sprouts did too. Absolutely loved the grilled mussel app. The bread basket came in handy to soak up the delicious sauce from the scallop entree. Wish we would have saved room for dessert! Our 'go to' special occasion and every day deserves a treat place!
Dinner Bread was great!
Steak was Super,
Very Friendly great service
Looking forward to a return trip!
Really didnt appreciate the bad attitude of the person running the wood fired oven.
Always delicious! Had the short ribs and beet salad. Love that the menu features seasonal, local ingredients. Our server, Sarah, was warm and knowledgeable.
One of the best restaurant experiences I have ever had- staff incredible- food over the top!
Met my two wonderful girlfriends there last night for dinner! Place was booming...food was fantastic! I had the short ribs and wow!! Thank you Tony!! See you soon!
We went to Central Market for my sisters birthday, she is a local however, this was the first experience for all of us. We shared one of the flatbread pizzas to start off which was delicious! it was a mushroom, Fontina cheese, garlic and bacon pizza and the bacon was fresh from their farm! Each of us had a different entree, the Mary's chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy, Wagyu beef sirloin steak was like butter, Lamb Shank fell off the bone and the Hand cut Linguine with seafood was full of flavor. We all enjoyed our dish very much. They also have a very nice selection of wines by the glass or by the bottle. I don't usually go for dessert but the choices were so tempting. I had the Butterscotch pudding which brought me back to my childhood, it is definitely a must have! My Mom enjoyed the Shaker Meyer Lemon pie as well. This is a spot not to be missed!
Wonderful evening and excellent food. The service was great.
Great food; price not too bad. We had a variety of items between a party of 4, and there was nothing that we wouldn’t have again. Service was “ok” - a little hectic running around, but we can’t complain because we benefitted from the chaos with free food and beverages that were accidentally delivered to our table on top of what we ordered. We would definitely return (even without the accidental freebies).
My absolute favorite restaurant in Petaluma and one of my all-time favorites. I have dined in many nice restaurants all over the world, and Central Market is indeed a very special restaurant and simply one of the best!
Waitperson went out of her way to see that we were seated at a regular table and not a high top table, which we expressed that we did not want through the open table reservation feature. Service was great as well as the food being superb.
Holiday (St Valentie’s) dinner, restaurant bit busy. I ordered a three course dinner. I was quite disappointed that our entrees were rather late. My entree was lamb shanks entree and my wife’s beer short ribs. Apparently the dishes became mired down in the kitchen because (?) I ordered three courses not the more common one or two. The food overall was quite good. This was our second dinner at this restaurant. Most likely we will come back.
Food was decent. Steak was cooked perfectly. Wood fired artichoke starter was a joke. It could have easily been called an amuse bouche and it was $16.
Do not order the pizza or polenta with crab. Tasteless.
Today is Mardi Gras! Nothing better than celebrate Fat Tuesday at Central Market! The food is always excellent but on Fat Tuesday they make a special menu to celebrate! BBQ Shrimp Awesome! Cat Fish with Dungeness Crab Amazing! Great way to spend a special night with my family. If you can’t be in NOLA second best place to be!
It was Fat Tuesday and a special "all" Cajun menu. Food was great. Lively room filled with folks wanting to celebrate along with great food. This is my 3rd time doing Fat Tuesday and I'll be back there next year for sure.
Truly excellent experience! Highly recommend.
We ordered small plates and our favorites of the night were the cauliflower soup, the jewel beet salad, mussels in a delicious broth and last but not least don't leave without having their homemade Meyer lemon pie.
Great service, everyone was so friendly and the server made us feel welcome as if she was one of our friends.
Every dish we ordered was delicious and would highly recommend
Good food and service however those wooden chairs are the most uncomfortable I have ever used. Padded seats would be a welcome addition. Don't know what could be done about the noise level of adult chatter in an older high ceiling building. The place was super clean!
Before concert dinner
Excellent flavorful food. Casual, friendly wonderful restaurant. We had a great time!
Really great food and service, other than they forgot to give me my leftovers
