Farm to table food that is so fresh! Creative dishes and fun atmosphere.
I grew up in Petaluma my entire life. I lived abroad for many of the years that Central Market started to grow popular. Now that I live in Petaluma again, I wanted to try out Central Market with my in-laws. Jill our waitress was awesome!!! The food was amazing! All of the recommendations were awesome. The salad was so good! The bread was delicious as well. I know this is a farm to table restaurant and it was worth it. I do wish that we just received bread on the house. I think charging $4 for that is annoying. But, times are changing and they need to find ways to keep the place going, so I didn't mind that much. Though, that would have made it even better! We ordered the Short Ribs (Awesome), Scallops (Awesome), and the mashed potatoes were delicious! Great job Central Market & Jill!
Locally owned, with a variety of American dishes. Great location in historic Downtown Petaluma. Good wines, great desserts. Never disappointing.
Our waitress was fabulous, friendly and very accommodating even when we asked for clean plates for each course (my friend and I were sharing plates and didn't want the salad dressing from our first course to ruin the flavors of our second course). We had a reservation and were seated right away. The food was outstanding! I highly recommend Central Market if you are looking to enjoy an evening of fine dining in Petaluma.
Food is always good. Farm fresh menu that sees a lot of seasonal rotation.
I didn't give Central Market 5 stars because we just went on the 14th and they were obviously feeling the pressure to turn as many tables as possible. I've been there (in a small business) and you have to consider your opportunities to make a lot of extra money.
Considering when it was, it was great -- just not a 5 star experience like we've had there many times. The service was really good, the food could not have been cooked to order and I understand that. We will definitely go again. It's out of the way for us -- a 30 or 40 minute drive but basically worth it..
We always have a group when we go and it’s always wonderful. The food is beyond great and everyone loves the atmosphere. It’s never too loud so we can’t talk and they never rush us no matter how busy they are.
My wife and I went to Central Market for dinner on Valentine's Day. For starters, we had Hog Island oysters and the citrus salad. Both were excellent! The sauces for the oysters were really outstanding. For dinner, my wife had the cod, while I had the beef tenderloins. Again, both main courses were very tasty, tender and delicious. The asparagus with my dinner were fresh and cooked just right. Our service was great! The red and yellow flower petals added just the right colorful touch to our table. We truly enjoyed our Valentine' Day dinner!
Service was great, food was excellent. Always a good meal at Central Market.
This is what dining out in a restaurant is all about!!
Very good service. the food overall, very disappointing. RAW OYSTERS WERE HIGHLIGHT AS NOTHING WAS DONE TO THEM. LITTLE GEM SALAD WAS GOOD. LAMB 3 WAYS WAS TASTELESS AND VERY TOUGH. PIZZA ROSSA HAD SO MUCH ARUGULA ON IT, IT WAS MORE LIKE A SALAD AND WAS COLD. WE DECIDED TO GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY AS WE ARE LOCALS BUT THIS WAS THE LAST TIME. SO MANY REALLY GOOD RESTAURANTS IN PETALUMA .
Very nice place - loved the vibe. Nice folks to tend to my needs and though they really didn't listen too well to what foods I couldn't eat, the meal was satisfying. I would try it out again when my food plan is a bit more broad.
Outstanding all around! Amazing food and service. Our office group of 12 gathered here to celebrate one of our own and everyone raved about how great the restaurant was! Thank you, Eitan Homa
The restaurant was closed. This app let me make a reservation. Very disappointed.
Horrible, worse place for a date ever.
Over all everything was AMAZING just AMAZING FABULOUS AND DELICIOUS
Very good food, smallish portions. Why is the whole place so filthy? It seems a shame that someone knows how to cook but no one has cleaned for ages!! So odd.
Love this place. Always my go to in Petaluma. Good local ingredients and creative food.
Food was great, but for 1 appetizer, 1 salad, 2 starters, 1 soda and 1 glass of wine it was almost $100! Very casual atmosphere, FYI.
Dinner date for the fiancé and I. Food is great, hostess was great, serving staff could have been more attentive and they could have had a bit more personality.
From wonderful food to wonderful service, it was everything I'd hoped it wold be. Our server was able to recommend interesting non-CA wines, as well.
The food, wine list and service are superb. The only problem is the noise level which is beast described as deafening. Very hard to hear companions.
I can't say enough about the food, its just incredible! If you are in Petaluma you must eat here, but you will need a reservation. Walk-ins are difficult to say the least. The only thing I would suggests is to get a 'high table' because the restaurant is so GD noisy. I could't hear my date but heard everyone else's conversation. The high tables are by the window and up a bit from the noise.
We had friends visiting and wanted to take them someplace special. Central Market didn’t disappoint! Everyone had a wonderful time!
Always outstanding. Do taste the macaroons. You won't regret it.
Late New Years celebration
Awesome place! Love the food. Great-food and selections
I’m sad to say our dining experience was pretty bad. I don’t believe we’ll be going back, there’s just too many outstanding restaurants in Sonoma. Central Market was one of our favorites. I will say in the restaurants behalf it was the Executive Chefs night off, nonetheless the chef de jour sitting in really doesn’t know food. My wife was served clams that weren’t open and the server telling us that was okay. My pasta was bland totally lacking any complexity whatsoever, pretty much flavorless. The kinda good news we weren’t charged for our entries, anyway couldn’t wait to get the hell out of there. Sad evening.
I picked this for a good friend's birthday and found out it was one of their favorite special places to go for great food. It's farm to table, wonderful food, with great service. We had several great dishes, everyone loved their choice. Even the dessert was delicious!
Central Market is our special occation go to restaurant. The food is always top notch along with the service. They have a great happy hour Sun. - Thurs. 5-6pm, where oysters are $1.50 each, featured red and white wine $5 a glass and beer $4. We always ask for a booth, however they have great seating by the windows looking over Petaluma Blvd. I highly recommend this restaurant!
The food was good but it took way too long to get our entrees. Very noisy. But we will go back!!
Nice vibe. We shared several dishes and enjoyed them all. Will definitely go back.
We’ve never been disappointed eating such wonderful dinners, and last night was no exception.
Thanks you Alexis. Excellent service and very good food.
Excellent food. Obviously a local favorite as the line was out the door seemingly all night even on a Sunday night when I was there.
Stick to pizza. While not wonderful, the pizza is thin and crisp in the wood oven. Overloaded with ingredients like squash that don't add enough flavor but make it lumpen and heavy. Still, best choice. Pasta was bizarre. How can you ruin pappardelle and California's fresh veggies? Ask them for their secret.
Salad should have been billed as soup. When asked how it was, I responded that it was a bit overdressed. The server then asked if they should reduce one or BOTH of the dressings on the little baby gems lettuce. Poor things were drowning. The VERY NICE server then replaced the salad without vinaigrette which really improved matters.
So, very heavy hand in the kitchen.
I had the Scallops in a potato broth which was delicious. My husband had the surf & turf which say was prepared perfectly. We would recommend Central Market if your visiting Petaluma.
The food is yummy, you have to try the Sweet Gems salad, it’s great! Our waitress was super efficient and very accommodating.
