CellarDoor is a multi-award winning restaurant and bar located in the beautifully restored Historic Swoop-Duggins House in the Central Business District of New Orleans, LA. Chef Tommy Finch spent a decade in the kitchen at world renowned Commander's Palace, before taking over at CellarDoor in Sept. 2016. Our cuisine can best be described as southern contemporary, and our cocktail menu focuses on reinterpreting the classics. We have a special event space on the 2nd floor with a private balcony that can comfortably accommodate roughly 85 guests. Our wine menu is curated with our cuisine in mind and we have a large beer selection, focusing mostly on Louisiana craft.
No functioning A/C. Very hot. Kitchen closed at 9pm. Weren’t told this and waitress suggested we get dessert somewhere else.
Everything was delicious. It was very hot inside the restaurant but the food was worth it.
We always try to discover a great new spot along with our favorites when we come over from Pensacola, which we do frequently. We tried Cellar Door before we went to the Queen concert based on reviews, being on Open Table, and location for easy walking distance from our hotel and Concert venue. Loved our experience here! Food was great, cocktails were awesome and the service was very attentive and engaging. I have a feeling this one is going to be on our “list” of favorites to come back to, introduce our friends to, and recommend to others ! Thank you!

Exceptional food in an interesting historic building. Quite pricey, but the food was excellent. We will probably return to Cellar Door on our next visit to NOLA.

The food was not what we had experienced in the past. The burger and fries used to be presented in a different way and the fries used to be AMAZING but they were completely different this time. The menu is seasonal, so maybe it was just a bad menu, but it was very limited. The scallops and pork belly were good but tiny portion for the high price. There weren’t many options for shareable apps, what happened to the cracklins and that hummus?! It was disappointing that these weren’t on the menu.
We will be back for drinks, not food.
At first we seemed like we were being set up for disappointment since the menu on their website is quite different than what they have right now. It is more limited and the website also said they had a tasting menu which is what we really wanted to try. Our waitress who said she only worked there for a week said the website is "way off" from their menu. We had cocktails and they were delicious!
We had the Caesar Salad with crawfish and it was fantastic! Our waitress sort of disappeared after we ordered our entrees and when we finally flagged her down to get water refills she said she forgot to put in our order. From that point forward she was very attentive and she expedited our order and we both had the seared scallops and pork belly. They were cooked to perfection and the smokiness of the bacon paired extremely well. It also went perfectly with the California Chardonnay we ordered. The food more than made up for a bit of a hiccup with service.
They do need to update their web menu as that is pretty misleading when you view that menu to decide if you want to eat there or not.

Limited food menu. Pricy for small portions that were just okay. Ambiance and drinks were the best part if that is what you are looking for.

It was the same quality as before. In addition all of the dishes we extremely salty. Overall not the best food experience. Really the only good dish was the Brussel sprouts .
They used to have the best French fries before but I hey changed that also, these almost seems that were brought frozen.
Brussel sprouts were amazing. The new gnocchi entree was also excellent. We topped this off with a nice happy hour red wine. This is always a great place with great service.

We chose CellarDoor for Valentine's Day dinner, and while we've been around long enough to know that a restaurant is frequently not at its best on that date..... CellarDoor more than missed the mark. The prix fixe menu (which was wholly unnecessary given the 10 diners there) and service were lousy. It was a damp night, and I attempted to order a coffee while I perused the cocktail menu (which is impressive, btw-- this place is worth checking out if you're not hungry), but the server rudely told me they don't have coffee (??!). Our meal continued on the same downhill track from there on out-- the citrus salad consisted of oversized romaine with a few canned mandarin oranges and a tasteless dressing. The duck entree ate like rubber off the buffet at my grandma's assisted living facility, and the desserts lacked romance and presentation-- choices were banana bread with a smear of vanilla ice cream or beignets- neither was worth finishing.
The restaurant is housed in a beautiful old building, away from the tourist traps, but that's about all it had going for it according to our experience.
I was so excited to eat at the Cellar Door prior to my arrival. The restaurant is beautiful and has a lot of character. Unfortunately, the food does not match the ambiance. My snapper was extremely unseasoned and the sauce that came with it, was very salty. Not only did it lack flavor, the fish was also very rubbery and seemed to be old.
Another ding, was the slow service. We were one of the few people inside of the restuarant, yet our food took forever to arrive.
This place could be wonderful, if it gets a new menu and some better staff.

This is the only restaurant in NOLA I've ever been to that doesn't serve coffee. It was strange to eat a signature dessert with no coffee on a very cold night. It's quaint but loud, portions are conservative and pricey considering you can get a lot of food for the same price at lots of places.
Great for a girls night
Enjoyable. A little disappointed in the menu and choices. Not a problem paying for my beautiful piece of snapper prepared so well. However, that was it. We used the Appetizers as our sides! One dessert item. Beignets..... imagine that!
We dined on New Year’s Eve 2019 and the service was non-existent. After being seated and greeted by the manager, our server took our drink order. After waiting 30 minutes and still not receiving our drinks we looked from the manager who couldn’t be found. We left after receiving no service for over 35 minutes. While we understand that it was New Year’s Eve, the crowd was moderate and the menu was pre-fixe so we don’t understand the lack of service.
We went for the NYE dinner special. They only had a pre-fixed menu for $95 (menu didn't list the price). Not only was it far too expensive for what it was, but the food was unimpressive. Multiple dishes were dry, lacking flavor. My friend requested a vegetarian meal which was also disappointing.
Great ambiance. Service was great went there for New Year’s Eve on a price fix menu. Expected better tasting food and food that should have been hot plated. Unfortunately they also did not have any coffee option with dessert

Food tasted really good. Atmosphere is nice. Service was terrible - even with the manager on the floor at the time. Water was not refilled automatically, even after being asked multiple times. Poured our own wine most of the night. Long delays between courses. Sat at the table with empty glasses and no food for over 30 mins with servers passing by and not offering anything. Even when shared desserts were served to our table of four, no plates were given. I eventually got up and got the plates myself which seemed to confuse our server. All four of us did not enjoy the experience and definitely would not recommend.

I made reservations due to my party going to a concert at the Smoothie King Center that night. However, when my party arrived at the restaurant for our reservation, I was shocked that there was a sign on the door saying that the venue was closed for a private event (especially since opentable had confirmed my reservation). So, when I contacted the restaurant they indicated that they were not sure why opentable confirmed a reservation because it was their understanding that it blocked reservations. As such, my party had to go to various other places that night to try and find a place to eat before the concert, which we ended up being late for :(
Cute little spot. We went before a concert and it seemed lots of people were doing the same which was fun. We enjoyed some Happy Hour red wine (tempernillo) and the mussels and fries which were very good. We also tried the crab gnocchi which was good but the mussels were much more to our liking.
Service was slow but it seemed a manager or someone else was helping our server move things along so that was helpful.
Overall it was a good experience for drinks and apps before a show.
Unnecessarily expensive for what you get
This place had a cool vibe and a great happy hour. Both cocktails I had were excellent and our server was absolutely lovely. The oreo beignets were the best I've had!
The food was a little salty, otherwise everything was wonderful!
Please use champagne glasses when someone buys a bottle of champagne. Putting our champagne in those wide “wine” glasses, just about ruined my bottle...
Servers we not that busy, but they were SLOW! Another couple sat down about 7-10 minutes after us, and they were greeted by a server BEFORE us....
We will not be going back, nor recommending this place to anyone we know, at all....
We celebrated my husband's birthday. We were overwhelmed with superb food and embraced in the locals charm. Definite repeat!
Food and service was quite good. Our reservation was at 7 and we were there about 15 minutes early. Getting drinks at the bar is slow due to the care/creativity they put into their signature cocktails. I’d start out by trying one of their signature drinks then switch to something simple. Unless you have a lot of time on your hands
