We had a 6:30 PM reservation, but the restaurant did not deserve a table. We were finally seated after 7:00 PM.
I always love eating at Celestin’s. Food is consistently good and I just love the atmosphere.
Always enjoy our time at Celestins. We arrive feeling welcome and leave well satisfied.
Thankful for the good service and wonderful food. We often invite guests and they are equally impressed and pleased with their meal.
Very pleasent dinner. We were big fans of the original Celestines in midtown and extremely happy to discover they had reopened. Smaller, quieter location but still excellent food. We'll be back!
I haven't been to Celestin's in years, so when I heard it had closed and was reopening, I had to go. The food was exactly how I remember it.
I had a great meal,
Looking forward to treating myself their again.
Exceptional, in every aspect. Unique to Sacramento, a real treat.
The server was not sure what he was doing. He had no clue about the menu items. When we asked to have bread brought out he literally brought a basket for each if us. We asked if he was bew because of the deer in the head light responses we were getting onky to find out he had been there a year. The gumbo had no flavor and the Brazilian red snapper was very fishy tasting. It's not what it use to be and I won't be returning.
Their food is delicious, but the space is very small and uncomfortable.
I advise ordering to go.
This is a sweet little spot in a beautiful and quiet neighborhood. Very good food, service and value. Give it a try!
Food/service /ambiance always great.
It’s a very small space and difficult to maneuver around.
This a terrific find! A great little cafe with terrific food, good vibes and excellent service. I’ll go back soon.
One of a kind Caribbean restaurant with an informal atmosphere. Good for lunch and dinner. My favorites are the scallops in coconut lime sauce and the key lime pie. Gumbos are a specialty of the house.
Not good anymore.
Excellent food, service, etc. Love the location and the gumbo.
Went with a party of five. Had a reservation and was seated as soon as we got there. Service was excellent, very attentive waiter. Food was as I remembered it from their last restaurant, excellent. Casual environment, a most pleasant dining experience.
Very charming restaurant. The wall art was a pleasure. My companion and I enjoyed our sandwiches. Service was attentive and thoughtful.
Made the reservation but was told I have to wait at least half hour. Did not eat so don't know how good is the food, service, or anything that come with it. Guess I won't find out since I won't go back.
First time there. For lunch—not at all crowded on a Friday. Great find! Will certainly go back. Gumbo was delicious but more than I could eat. Had fried green tomatoes for an appetizer—an interesting offering and tasty choice. Service was first rate.
First time eating there, they were all very accommodating in regards to my wishes. Lovely atmosphere
Celestine’s serves delicious food. You should try it!
Intimate neighborhood feel with friendly service and great food.
Very nice little neighborhood with great gumbo and other creole offerings.
It’s a little tight in there, but lovely and worth the crowd. ❤️
A qualified recommendation of yes to others. If you plan to go on weekends, don’t bother with open table because a confirmed reservation does not mean a table will be there. The place is so small and the traffic including take out is heavy, they don’t really need reservations and it appeared nobody but us had bothered. They certainly didn’t pay attention to ours anyway. Lower rating on service because of that, we ended up sitting at what should be the take out area, and the eating surface was at chest level. That coupled with a wrong entree being served did not make for a nice evening. Our server tried hard and was very nice nonetheless.
All around a great experience at Celestin’s! We plan to go back soon!
Celestin's is a small, welcoming, full service restaurant with fabulous, unique dishes. One of my favorite places to relax, unwind and enjoy the atmosphere with good friends.
Excellent food, very nice service, great prices. The drawback is it is a small restaurant with crowded seating. If you can deal with the latter you are in for treat. We plan on going back, it's that good.
Our experience was great. Without any reservation we would recommend this restaurant for its good food, ambience and service
I almost hate to review this because I do not want anyone to find out about this place. OMG - Cajun food in Sacramento - not fake real great Cajun ——- I know French Creole, I just call it Cajun
Great food, great service!!! Definitely make a reservation.
Excellent Gumbo, best I have ever eaten and being from a Cajun Mom, I know my Gumbo. Friendly helpful service is a plus. Best dining secret in East Sac.
Great place. There are a number of interesting looking dishes on the menu, but I'm still stuck on Celestin's Gumbo. Perhaps in time I'll bring myself to try others.
Celestin is a discovered gem! Tucked away near McKinley Park in East Sac, the restaurant has a cozy, international feel with strong hints of New Orleans, and other hints of Haiti, in the decor. Parking was conveniently in front, and our table was waiting for us when we arrived. The menu had a variety of New Orleans/creole appetizers and main-course choices, all reasonably priced. The gumbo, one of our choices, was outstanding and authentic, and the creole chicken with red beans and rice was equally tasty. The salad was excellent, as was the key lime pie for dessert. The waiter was pleasant and helpful. Altogether, a very satisfying dining experience. Would definitely return!
I remember this place from years ago, the location is smaller, but the food still excellent! OMG I can't wait to go again!!!
A nice cozy in the neighborhood place. Food well prepared and pleasantly served. And they serve okra!
We were immediately greeted and taken to our seats. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Food was excellent and filling! They also had a good selection of wines. I will be dining at Celestin's Restaurant again soon.
Great little neighborhood gem. Good food and friendly staff.
We are a family of 5 so finding a restaurant that pleases everyone can be tricky (couple select eaters in the mix as well as a vegetarian). Celestin's scored a double-thumbs-up from the whole squad. We LOVE that it is in our neighborhood (an easy bike ride) and has such a delicious selection of appetizers/entrees/sides to choose from. I do recommend making a reservation in advance as it is a small place and has limited seating.
Great, cozy little place with unique food and good service. If you're going during busy times, you should consider making a reservation.
