Too much vinegar on the pork chop
Just a short walk from our B & B, this excellent restaurant is one I would return to on another visit to Napa. We sat in the main dining room, which is where the bar is, and had a nice corner booth. The "outdoor" seating is still protected, but the cold snap (Feb. '18) had us opt for inside. Being right near the river, I'll bet it is wonderful in warmer weather. I had the rack of lamb special; 5 beautiful tender delicious with grilled asparagus. My wife's rigatoni was perfect, except she couldn't save the leftovers for later, as we were leaving in the morning. Our server, Howard, was terrific, and the rest of the staff took great care of us.
This was exactly what we were looking for! Our anniversary dinner was absolutely delicious from start to finish.
Awesome atmosphere, great food and wine! It's a little on the pricey side but worth every penny.
This restaurant was outstanding and the food was delicious! Our server Rafael made sure our needs were met and that our dinner process ran smoothly! I will definitely be back !
Service was great. The patio was cozy as expected. The risotto was disappointing. It was a lobster and shrimp risotto, however the vegetables were the dominant character of the plate. The risotto itself which was lacking in flavor. Out of our party of four, half ordered it. Each party had the same experience. I’d recommend a pass next time.
I treated my wife to lunch on her birthday at this very fine dining restaurant. The ambiance is very nice and the service was exceptional. The food was beautifully prepared and was delightful to enjoy. Onthe particular day that we visited most guest ate in the outside area that was heated by a fireplace but we preferred to eat in the indoor dining room where the seating seemed more comfortable. The wife selection for single glasses of wine was very good but a little pricey. The entrees were in the $25 to $30 range with salads and desserts extra. Parking was convenient across the street and free of charge. We would return to this fine restaurant anytime we are in the Napa area.
We enjoyed the food and will be back!
We were celebrating not only Valentines Day, but also our recent engagement. We had a wonderful time, with wonderful food and wonderful service! The trifecta!
Service - awesome. Some of the best service we’ve had in awhile. Food - good. Petrale Sole was good. Flash Fried Calamari also good. Lobster Risotto, not so good. Bland. No taste to the risotto. And for $38, totally disappointing. Anyway, the experience overall was good. We brought our kids and there is a kids menu here. Great service. Will probably come here again to try the meat dishes, as we came here on Valentine’s Day, which also happened to be Ash Wednesday and did not eat meat.
We’ve heard about Celadon having lived in Napa ourselves, but I was disappointed. I ordered the roast chicken with gnocchi and while the sauce was delicious, there was more gnocchi than chicken, so (at these prices) I felt cheated. Our server, Julie, was extraordinarily helpful and attentive—my generous tip was for her, not at all for the restaurant.
It was Valentines Day and we just wanted a pleasant evening, but we felt rushed as the other table attendants hovered unnecessarily. Given the day, the place was crowded, but we also felt cramped— there was hardly enough room for even Julie to move.
I should say that the berry cheesecake that we had for dessert was the creamiest and most delicious cheesecake I’ve ever had. I don’t know who the pastry chef was that evening, but kudos to her (or him)! It’s too bad the rest of our experience was worth it. There are much better restaurants in Napa. Choose them instead of Celadon.
Great service, they did not overbook for Valentine’s Day. We enjoyed dinner and never felt rushed.
The staff and management always takes care of you. Every time we dine at Celadon we are impressed and say to ourselves- we need to come here more often. Always a delicious and enjoyable meal. The ambiance is delightful and you leave feeling like you’re part of the family.
My wife had Petrale Sole and I had pasta. Both dishes were very tasty. Very nice atmosphere and top notch service. We’ve been to Celadon many times and will return. A great downtown Napa restaurant.
We like so much! The food is one of the best in Napa.
Everything was tasting good. My husband said the steak was wonderfull, as the sole petrale and the chicken.
The place is pretty nice, specially at nigth!
We love it and you must go!
The food was delicious and very creative. The service was exceptional. Really enjoyed the ambiance. Food a bit pricey, but we go again and recommend!
Love this place. The food and service are great. Pork belly with noodles appetizer is a meal in itself.
I brought my girlfriend here for her birthday dinner. It was the weekend before Valentine's Day. We had a very nice time and enjoyed the food, drinks and service. Our waitress and the staff were excellent. We'd come back again for sure!
The food is good and ambience is inviting. We had a nice meal. Good value and very relaxing place.
A little disappointed in the food, but would definitely give it a second chance. I had an incredibly tough cut of steak (couldn’t chew through the pieces, even though it as cooked to chef’s recommended medium rare), and co-workers chicken was very dry. Crab cakes were great and service was good.
We haven't been to Celadon in years, and were pleasantly surprised at the delicious generous servings we had--calamari, Caesar salad, short ribs bourguinnon, petrale sole. Small eaters that we are, we had enough leftovers for dinner the next night.
Everything was top notch. Great dining experience.
Despite our reservation we had to wait 40 minutes to get a table.
The pork belly app was delicious as well as the petrale sole. I would've skipped the short ribs and gone with the pork.
What a delight this evening was. Airon (sp - waiter) was attentive, accommendating, etc. It was our 45th anniversary and they helped make it a very nice evening.
What a great spot in Napa on Main Street overlooking the river. The "meat of the day" was duck and it was cooked to perfection. I started with a small Caesar and added a side of sprouts. A really terrific meal and I took some duck and sprouts back to the hotel for the next day.
From start to finish celadon didn’t disappoint. Howard, our server was amazing! So was his cocktail. And the food was incredible. The pork belly over noddles was to die for. My only wish was that we would have been able to sit on the patio area, next time I will make sure to request it. Thank you celadon for another great meal!
We were seated in the main dining area but the patio seemed more active and fun. Our waitress was nice and professional but she was waiting on tables in the main dining area as well as the patio area so there were long waits for her. The menu is limited of choices but the food served was good. Because our table was uneven/unleveled/tipsy and had a padded tablecloth our wine could not be placed on our table so it was placed on a shelf behind us out of reach and we had to wait for waitress to come to poor more wine.
Expected a nicer birthday dessert even if charged
Scoop of vanilla ice cream with cookie kind of skimpy
We thoroughly enjoyed Celadon. I had the pork chops and potatoes and it was a very thick pork chop, cooked medium, and was one of the best I've ever had. Nice ambiance, and fun with special friends. Excellent staff too!
