Celadon - Napa Ratings and Reviews
Celadon is one of my all time favorite places. I often do a birthday dinner here and this year I brought my staff here for our holiday luncheon. It was absolutely perfect. Our group of six was well cared for, our food was amazing, and the service was spot on. When you go, don’t miss their calamari. It’s the talk of the town.
First time diners & we had a delicious meal.
Menu selections were extensive & it was difficult (in a good way) to decide what to choose.
We started with the endive salad & a cup of the tomato soup. Great for sharing & tasty as well.
I had the spare ribs which were tender & very favorable. Partner had the filet that was there special steak that night. Also excellent.
Creme Brulee for dessert & what as not to like about the whole evening!
Would certainly return!
PS: Service was 'spot on'.
Thanksgiving meal for two of us included salad, one roll, 3 slices turkey breast with mashed potatoes and stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce. Gravy on the side. The service was very good. Attentive and fast. We were seated on time. We really enjoyed our food. It wasn’t a lot and it was a bit expensive. $68.00 per person. We took our pie home and it was delicious. I really like Celadon, it’s close by with free parking, unlike , SF, where in addition to our meal we would need to pay for parking or transportation. I will return for the regular fare.
Unfortunately, this will not be a good review. Perhaps our mistake was coming here for lunch instead of dinner. The cocktail was good but the rest of the meal was disappointing. I had a mahi sandwich that looked more like beef (too much of that brown stuff). The bread was ok but the accompanying vegetables looked tired, even the tomato slice looked dried out. I’ve had better fish sandwiches at diners.
I read some of the reviews here, both before and after our Anniversaey dinner. Also chatted with the wife for her feedback. I am glad I saw the comment about the martini, so accurate. I usually ask for no vermouth, but in this case I did not and it was REALLY that good. I can also see how this is a go to with visiting friends. I have actually had better pork belly and better flat iron steak (a special) but the cuts were very good, better quality. I think bland is too strong of a word. The somalieer turned us into a great direction and experience. This is not a Michelin rated restaurant and it is as good as it should be. The service was very good and attentive. Our waiter was great. Definitely have this as a favorite to return too.
This was a nice experience. The food, service, and overall presentation were all very good. Nothing was outstanding, but very good. We were unlucky to be seated next to a large party of adults celebrating an adult birthday. They were very loud and had been drinking. These things happen, I suppose. Menu was diverse, as was the wine list. I’d recommend Caledonia and may go here again, if in the area.
We were at Celadon on a wine country visit with friends. We all loved the ambiance of the outdoor patio. It was beautiful. Menu was varied; each of us ordered something different and the wine sommelier assisted us in choosing a bottle of wine we all could enjoy. It was perfection. Service was amazing and awesome locations for photos afterward with their sweet entrance tunnel of lights and vines. We even walked there from our B&B on Brown Street. Wonderful night. Highly recommend.
Sometimes I just get tired of being shown to the worst table first. This was a VERY significant Birthday and our reservation was made with that information
That being said, there was no other option other than waiting a half hour for another table to open up. This was worth doing as no dinner is good enough to compensate for a cramped table in a noisy spot peering into the service area Really. The response of "Well everyone is celebrating something important" just doesn't cut it !
Once seated, service, food and evening went without a hitch and it turned out lovely. But I could have done without the prequel
We dined at Celadon twice this past week while visiting Napa - it was that good. Attentive staff, good mixed drinks and excellent food. There was a bit of a rowdy group the first night we were there, but it was late, so not too many tables were affected.
My wife had the Morrocan Lamb Shank and I had the Short Rib - would recommend both! As we had had a big lunch, we simply had drinks and shared some appetizers the second night. The mussels were fresh and plump! We'll be back again just for those next trip to Napa.
The appetizer (muscles) were the best part of the meal. Downhill from there. The ahi was okay. The lamb shank (which was recommended) was tough and after giving my wife a taste, she thought it tasted like goat. ( she's from South America and has had goat before ) The dessert: creme brûlée for my wife was very cold (like frozen- but not all the way defrosted ) I had the chocolate mousse cake. It said it came with a graham cracker crust but it was really stale cocoa pebbles. ( I ate the top layer but that was it. )
Stop there and you should be okay.
Disappointing for a 20th anniversary dinner.
We had a 6:45 reservation but arrived early and they were able to accommodate us. Our server was very friendly and accommodated our request to please not rush the meal. We had attended the golf tournament all day and wanted to relax to our good meal. I ordered the braised lamb shank and my husband order the braised short ribs. Both were fall off the bone tender......both had very tasty sauces as well. I happen to love the taste of lamb & I think that you would have to really like lamb to enjoy this dish with all of the nuances of the spices. For me, it was yum-yum ! We had a quiet cozy little table in the dining room and were very pleased with our experience. Would definitely dine there again :)
The steak was just ok. The carrots that came with the steak didn't really taste like anything. The scallop dish had only 4 small scallops which came to $9 per scallop. They were very tasty but not enough scallops for the price.
We enjoyed a wonderful date night here on a Sunday night. Our waitress was absolutely diligent and thorough. If you even thought you needed more water, she was right there to fill your glass. She was spot on with her wine recommendation and we had a wonderful evening. My husband raved about how good his pork chop was and it was so beautifully presented with pomegranate seeds too. We started off sharing the pear endive salad which was amazing and finished with the best creme brulee that I have had in a long time. It had carmelized bananas on top and it was the perfect combination of my favorite and my husband's. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars was because the Seared Ahi Tuna dish I ordered was really just slightly above average. It had beets in it and these dark purple potatoes with the salad base the Ahi was on...but there just wasn't a lot of flavor to it. I expected more from Celadon. My advice is go - you won't be disappointed...just don't order the Ahi as your Main Course. A wonderful night all in all.
Lovely setting in a patio style setting with a fireplace and lively atmosphere. Great location to walk around downtown Napa after dinner. Not familiar with Napa and only had one night in town and we went solely off reviews and recommendations. This place gave us a feel for Napa cuisine and style. Would recommend!
