Cedars prides itself on a traditional Mediterranean menu that includes Hummus, Falafel, Cous Cous, Shawerma & Kebobs that fill our dining room with magnificent aromas for guests to enjoy as they observe our gallery open-kitchen.

With a BYO policy, guests find that our prices are surprisingly moderate, and combined with splendid food and local popularity, waits are common on the weekend, so be sure to arrive early!

We make a point of eating at Cedars any time we are in the neighborhood - even if we need to take a slight detour to get there! Worth the drive! Authentic and delicious! Such good flavors! We will be back!

Horrible service here overall. Slow service in spite of very few people in the place, and after waiting 50 minutes for a sandwich, the waitress came over and told us that she forgot to put in our order! And that it would be another long wait. Ridiculous. We got up and left and had to go find somewhere else to eat. I will never go back.

My friend and I went there before a visit to the DuSable Museum in Hyde Oark, and both had marvelous soups (lentil is their house special, wonderful and spicy) and terrific fresh and robust salads. Wonderful lunch spot in Hyde Park, with free parking right at the front door, as it's in a little strip mall.

Someone might want to tell the waiter about Open table, he didn't have a clue about Open Table or my reservation. Have to ask twice for extra bread then ask the other waitress to bring it. Also she had to bring extra water and my meal. I didn't understand why he was my waiter, he was constantly doing other things beside waiting on my daughter and myself. Food is good but service was horrible and a turnoff. I will come back w/o the waiter.

I liked the ambiance. The food was just ok. I've had better and this food was pretty subpar. I can appreciate the service. Everyone was really nice. I just thought the food was not that good.

We have been here many times, and planned a group dinner with out of town guests this time. Sunday evening was not too noisy and not crowded. Polite service and food came out quickly and for the whole table at once. Many of our party were vegetarian and they were happily fed. Portions are substantial, so many entrees can be shared. Food was fresh and tasty, and our dining experience was great. We were so happy our guests found this place to be excellent as well. Glad to bring them here and proud of this restaurant in our neighborhood of Hyde Park. The prices are great too. Just days earlier we spent 4 times as much at the new Hyde Pk Restaurant A10 and food wasn't nearly as good. We will pick Cedars from now on! Great Healthy Food!

All selected menu items were terrific, and we have always enjoyed the food here, and this on visit, Cedars delivered again. Food is fresh and good quality and flavors are excellent. Authentic Middle Eastern faire, with a slight American slant which makes the food a crowd pleaser to appetites of all types. We love the vegetarian options here, and the healthy ingredients. Portions are sizable, and prices are good. Meals can be shared which we do, to get a variety of dishes. The one drawback is the restaurant can get noisy when full because of the acoustics, however this was a brunch visit for us, and pleasantly quiet. We would love to see some gluten-free options added to the menu in the future. Great neighborhood favorite for us!

The food at Cedars was wonderful, very fresh, and large portions. Our group had the "dips" sampler and with fresh warm pita, it was excellent. Delicious lentil soup and a large fresh salad made a perfect lunch dish. I would definitley go back -- prices very reasonable -- but service was surprisingly slow, especially considering that we were literally the only party this server was waiting on! I had to go find her behind the bar to pay the bill, even though we had told her several times that we were on a tight schedule due to nearby theater tickets. She told us that she was new, so perhaps that's why. With a little more polish and attention with the service, I'd highly recommend Cedars when you are in Hyde Park.

This was a pleasent surprise, delicious food, in a neighborhood that doesn't have many dining options. Very convenient to the Museum of Science and Industry.

I found Cedars on OpenTable and suggested to friends who live nearby that we go there. They said that it is one of their favorite neighborhood restaurants. I was not disappointed. The food was plentiful and excellent. It is very reasonable considering it's location. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes Middle Eastern cuisine.

Great food at an unbelievable price. We had the three cheese flatbread appetizer which was enough for a meal in itself. My husband had the chicken wings dinner which was more than enough for two dinners and I had the lemon chicken and took home half of it. Everything was seasoned perfectly. We can't wait to visit again. The dining room is bare, no frills, but the food makes up for it.
