Cedar Creek Inn - San Juan Capistrano Ratings and Reviews
Had a good time. We have eaten here before, but usually during the day on the patio. We ate inside on this night, in the dining room near the fireplace. It was Very loud. We could barely hear each other talk across the table.
I had the Shrimp Scampi, it was fabulous. My hubby had the french dip sandwich and it too was excellent.
The service was attentive and friendly. It is a beautiful setting.
My wife and our 2 friends enjoyed Cedar Creek very much. They honored our reservation and seated us promptly. I requested a booth and they gave us a very nice one.
Their service is excellent, very attentive , pleasant and friendly.
Two of us ordered the prime rib. You'd better be hungry. It's a big, thick portion and absolutely delicious. My wife ordered the scampi and loved it. Our other friend had a cobb salad which was huge and delicious.
Cedar Creek is a terrific restaurant and I would recommend it to family and friends.
This was my mom’s choice for family lunches, always on the patio. It was nostalgic to have a family lunch there now that she’s passed. While the inside is lovely and more quiet, the patio is such a pretty atmosphere. The food is yummy and the service is outstanding. The only drawback is the street noise on the weekends because it is right on the street/Ortega Hwy.
We have been to Cedar Creek many times as we really enjoy the service, atmosphere and food. My father passed away one week prior and although he didn't eat out much he enjoyed Cedar Creek so my mom, sister, and our significant others planned a late lunch here. It was a pretty day so I had reserved outside seating. Unfortunately, all the umbrellas were up making the sunshine unavailable and the patio not as inviting. They moved us inside to a table right next to a waiter station, although many other tables were available. My husband then spoke to the manager who he said, almost copped him an attitude, but then moved us to a better table.
I always get the Ahi Salad. There were 5 of us and everyone else ordered hot food, which all came out first. My salad was delayed about 5 minutes. I figured they must have forgot to put the dressing on the side and probably had to remake it. When the salad came out it was so sloppily put together. The ahi was tossed on there, the greens were sad and there were hardly any sweet peppers or portabella mushrooms. Normally I would complain but as my mother proceeded to eat her grilled eggplant sandwich and found it chewy and not hot, I decided just to eat it. I stopped the waiter who was very nice but also very busy as he was finishing up several large parties. My mom decided she would wait for a different entree.
Besides our server doing everything he could to accommodate us, I was really disappointed. My sister enjoyed her cedar plank salmon, which my mom switched to. My husband got the Mahi special which was average. And my sister's boyfriend got the tacos which he liked.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience on a day that you would hope things would have turned out better.
I am very glad to fill out this review because I was going to say something on Saturday evening. When my wife and I checked in (45 minutes early) I said that we were celebrating our anniversary and would like a quiet table. The girl who seated us put us in the archway, which had only one table and seemed quiet. We did not know that it was the walkway for all the servers and waiters to go thru to serve all the other tables in most of the restaurant. It was not at all the dining experience we had hope for.
A really good place for brunch, lunch or dinner. The food is terrific, the service is very good and the atmosphere is quite nice. A nicely varied menu and the preparation is always very good. One of my favorite places in San Juan Capistrano and I recommend it highly.
The terrace is the place to be.
Management changes have
Unfortunately caused some deterioration in quality of some
Dishes and option for sides.
It's a mistake. Here's another bad idea. When you offer a wine by the glass by name, you don't
Instruct the server to say "What
do you want if that's not open ?"
We're here on a regular basis, so
We're keenly aware.
What a wonderful restaurant. Has a very cozy, warm feel to it. The staff were excellent and attentive. Our meals were superb - everything cooked to perfection. I had the filet with shrimp scampi - wonderful - vegetables perfectly cooked - steak & shrimp, delicious. Coconut cake - to die for. My daughter had Ahi salad, husband had rib eye, friend had salmon salad. Everyone loved their meals. Garlic bread - Yum.
