Cedar Creek Inn - San Juan Capistrano Ratings and Reviews
I've dined here for 10 years with family and friends. Only once did I receive a table near the fountains/fireplace that I requested in my reservation, and I always make one. Not a great score when you think about it. We always accept graciously when denied our requested spot and take second best. But we keep hoping..................
Stick with something you know you will
Like. I like the spinach salad with grilled salmon. They have changed thr preparation of most of the former menu items to dumb down what used to be flavorful. I did not think they could mess up the burger, but they managed to make it inedible. (The kitchen was busy) Caesar salad was quite good. Now flavorless. So, I will enjoy the spinach salad with grilled salmon as long as it lasts as a good option. The patio is lovely and if you can, ask for a table in Reuben's section and your service will be very good.
Shared appetizer popcorn shrimp - fresh and tasty but fried artichoke hearts were bland tasting and greasy. Had short ribs sandwich - soggy bread but generous portion of flavorful ribs. Best thing was their house special margarita, one of the best that I have tasted, excellent! Not a wine place. Located in a wonderful town, so include time for browsing around!
This was our first visit and it was charming. The Patio was lovely, not too much noise and
our Server, Angel, was most accommodating. Your Menu is very tempting and so we shall
return. It's a nice afternoon excursion from Long Beach - pleasant drive, good dining and
I mentioned to Angel that the Bar-B-Q chicken in my salad was tough and so I just set those
pieces aside. He was kind enough to check with the Chef who would have given me another
serving of chicken. I said no thanks but appreciated the effort. The salad, minus the
chicken, was great.
Thanks. Jane Martin
