The menu offered a range of choices to satisfy a cluster of individuals with strong preferences. The food was delicious and carefully prepared; the service friendly and helpful. We will return to sample the many things we could not order in a single meal.
Superb service and the most delicious lunch in Chicago!
Dinner was delicious. We sat outside, and there was lots of activity coming and going from the Sofitel hotel--was a bit distracting but also entertaining.
Disappointing food. Overpriced.
It turned out to be perfect for sitting outside despite it's Lack of people watching. The service was perfect! Not too much and not too little. We had the five course tasting menu with wine pairing. I give them a four for food more because of the wine itself than the food. The food was good but I wouldn't say outstanding, however the wine pairing was perfect! The tasting menu was confusing however. We are typically fans of tasting menus because it allows us to try different foods. Our criticism is that we were served different menus/dishes. We are accustomed to each of us receiving the same dish on each course of the tasting menu, however this was not the case and we found it obscure. Overall good food, good service. We'll be back.
A bit pricey, but otherwise, an excellent dining experience.
We went for our birthdays and had the Degustation menu with the wine pairings. It was lovely. The wines were excellent and paired really well.
My wife and I truly enjoyed your restaurant. The food and service were outstanding, We've found that most "in-house" restaurants at hotels aren't that exceptional, but yours is indeed an exception to that belief. We will most certainly return on our next visit to Chicago.
Our food was very good, however, our waitress did not seem to be knowledgeable in either the food or the wine. At a restaurant of this calibre, appreciative foodies want to chat a bit about the ingredients, the preparation -- ask a few questions. Even though two of our party had the seven-course tasting menu, they did not seem to pay as much attention to the wine selections as the food. The chocolate bar dessert, however, was one of the best desserts I have ever tasted.
Really good spot in Sofitel Hotel. Great design, service, outstanding tasting menu (OpenTable Spotlight deal), using locally grown foods and fresh ingredients. Good wine list. Fairly expensive, so recommend for special occasions.
Nice menu. Great service. Very friendly. Very relaxed. One of the best dinners we have had out in a while.
CDA was a great dining experience. The food was well-presented and very good, the service was just right, and the decor is modernly elegant. While the menu is somewhat limited, everything was very tasty.
The food was excellent!! The best halibut I have ever had. The service is outstanding!!! Very impressive!!!
We enjoyed the salmon rillettes, door gras, salads, halibut, walleye, pork tenderloin, and short ribs, as well as the very creative desserts. The three course prix fixe is outstanding value.
Mesclun salad with champagne vinaigrette dressing was superb.
We selected the restaurant for our 28th Anniversay. The evening was fabulous! The food is exquisite, each course more memorable than the last. Lots of little touches and extras. Great service, great wine list with surprisingly good values. Desserts were spectacular. Although the room is large and open, within minutes your experience is quite private and intimate. The chef even came out to our table during dessert, dropped on one knee and sang La Vie en Rose to my wife! Charming and Romantic! The artistry with the food was really extraordinary!
CDA has the best service and continues to maintain its reputation for impeccable fine dining. From "amuse-bouche" to the piping hot french press coffee at tableside, it is french dining at its finest without any pretension. I highly recommend CDA for a splurge meal that is well worth it!
The food was actually out of this world! Worth Michelin stars! Wonderful contrasts of taste and texture and little surprises along the way. We dine out frequently and I still have to say that this was a true "dining experience".
What a shame the new chef can't cook. This is a lovely spot with outdoor seating that puts most patios to shame. But the food is now inedible and the service is unsupervised. Take it off your list.
All the food was wonderful, and the wait staff was attentive and helpful. Restaurant setting is on the ground floor, so there is a street view. Furnishing is modern and decoration is vibrant. It is definitely a higher priced choice, but everything was perfect for our anniversary dinner.
GREAT PLACE , FOOD WAS great !!!!!! WAITER WAS VERY NICE AND HELPFUL , will go back for sure !!!!!!
The food is outstanding. It's a shame the location doesn't do it justice. Room is similar to a chain hotel breakfast venue. Noisy with bar music and sound very evident which didn't decline during the meal. Few other diners made the facilities seem even more sparse. The food staff deserves to have their wonderful creations offered in a more hospitable environment.
Everything sounds good on paper but doesn't translate to the actual experience. The hyper-modern decor doesn't meld with the classic style of food. Each course of the tasting menu was garnished with a variation of the same 4 ingredients (sweet potato, asparagus, favas, butter sauce). Seasoning was bland or heavily salted. The wine list doesn't venture too far past what most people know and the service doesn't expect customers to have a sophisticated palate. We were told our Ravenwood pairing for duck was "shiraz/zinfandel" (it was just Zin). A very citrusy sauv blanc came with the hamachi (which did not taste very fresh) and clashed with the yuzu gelee. Carpaccio was seared (call it "tataki" then). Sadly overall, not too impressive.
Have been at the restaurant many times, the service lately is not what it used to be.
It was a special birthday for my husband,he has dificulty with noise in restaurant.
It was perfect and the food and wine were outstanding. The service at first was
very slow but then the very French waiter became attentive and offered a very good
suggestion for the wine. They also brought an extra little birthday desert. After we
had had a great desert
We did the chef's tasting and loved the food. All of the courses were well prepared and flowed nicely.
We didn't feel rushed between courses, or before or after the meal.
It was a lovely way to celebrate a friend's birthday!
It was a little loud, but otherwise a very nice place for dinner.
We loved every minute. The food was out of this world.
Great menus, wonderful food, outstanding service.
The staff were amazing and accommodating. It was my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend and they all were congratulating us upon arrival. They had a table already set up for us in a good location, and they even did a note that said "Happy 2 year Anniversary" spelled out in chocolate! The decor is modern and aesthetically pleasing. We were just there for a wine/cheese/charcuterie flight but the experience was great. I Definitely recommend to others.
Overall a great restaurant with great atmosphere. The only drawback is that it is a hotel restaurant.
This place was amazing. The oysters were incredible, the cheese was heaven, the tuna was seared to perfection, and the halibut was one of the most flavorful dishes I've ever eaten. The service was also impeccible.
food portions for the pixie fix menu was small, but after 5 course we were stuff. love the ambiance and servers were on hand.
We dined last Friday night to celebrate a new job offer. Had never been before and I think this was my favorite meal in Chicago! Loved the atmosphere (we sat on the red banquet along the window), lighting, and variety of furniture. The service was outstanding; they got it perfect! Attentive without being "in your face".
We had a delicious meal. I had the pea shoot salad and tuna entree. Both were excellent. My partner had the goat cheese tart and halibut. Also excellent. We shared the sampler dessert plate.
I can't wait to go back! All in all, a wonderful meal out.
The menu is quite varied, the preparation is imaginative but still conservative, and the results are just as edible as the last visit we had 2 years ago. Given the quality of the food, the price is reasonable.
Went for Mother's Day dinner, fantastic service (very attentive) and great food. Tuna seared perfectly and duck amazingly moist.
The food was horrible and quite expensive for what was served. I will not return.
The food was delicious and a very good price for fine French fare. I had the halibut and it was very light and prefectly prepared. My husband had the 3-course choice and everything was great. The bar is a little lacking for after dinner, but Le Bar is just a 100ft. away so not worries if you want to continue the evening.
My party enjoyed everything about this restaurant - atmosphere, food and service. The pea shoot salad was wonderful and everyone raved about their individual entrees (filet, pike, tuna). Both the chocolate box and sorbet trio for dessert were the perfect ending to our modern French meal. The service was great and the chefs were extremely accommodating to special dietary restrictions (gluten). Will definitely return.
Appropriately priced great food, although when we were there it was a busy night and the order-to-serve time span was far too long. I would return if I had nowhere to be afterward.
