Most of Iranian dishes are prepared with herbs, vegetable and rice along with meat, lamb, chicken or fish. The frequent use of fresh green herbs and vegetables in Iranian food made them a healthy choice for most people. The Persian cuisine refers to a style of cooking related to Persia or modern day Iran. Iran has a long history of agriculture, and use of fresh herbs and vegetables in Persian recipes is very common.

Wanting to branch out and explore more flavours of the North Shore, we made 6pm reservation and were treated by professional and friendly staff throughout our time at the North Vancouver Casba. The restaurant is CoVid-compliant, with menus available with QR codes on our phones, or on full-sized menus under the glass on each tabletop, visible from both sides of the table!.

We chose the BAHALI POLO [lamb shank with dill rice and grilled tomato] and the BARG [beefsteak kebab with plain rice and grilled tomato]. Both were tasty, and there was plenty of rice, but it would have been nice if some vegetables also came automatically with the meal.

The takeout KOOBIDEH [ground beef skewers with saffron rice & grilled tomato] somehow got substituted to KOOBIDEH WRAP [skewer of ground beef with a tiny side of SHIRAZI SALAD [cubed tomato, cucumber, onion with lemon juice] and a generous piece of very dry pita bread.

We didn't see a dessert menu as we ate and our waitress didn't suggest we order dessert, but we did spy the BAKLAVA and BAMIEH [deep-fried honey flour] desserts under glass as we waited at the front desk for our takeout KOOBIDEH. We decided to try both--on the spot--and they were delicious!
