Local restaurateur Travis Mohlenbrink (Cracked Pepper, Thyme, and Sugar) was inspired to open Cayenne after observing the trend for quick food. He wanted to offer a fresh option in Peoria Heights.

Cayenne uses fresh ingredients to make all of our creations from scratch, which we think helps when it comes to loading up the flavor. But these aren’t just traditional tacos – they’ve got a twist. Feel like a Po Boy on your taco? We’ve got it! Maybe a Cheeseburger Taco? Yep, we’ve got that, too. Our food and drinks are a little bit off the beaten path – think of it as something familiar with a unique flair.

In addition to our innovative food creations, we also offer high end tequilas and house-made boozy punches. We have a state-of-the-art beverage mixing system, which allows us to handcraft delicious alcoholic punches.

Well, we made reservations for 6 for 9, we arrived about 10 minutes early, I guess the bar manager do not want to wait on us, and was upset we were sat down a HOUR before than close for tonight, so we left to eat somewhere else.

Tacos were excellent. Service was absolutely great too as our waitress was really hustling. Salsa was mid.

Always live Cayenne! My daughter hadn’t been before and I took her for National Margarita Day! She loved everything as I always do!!! Our waitress was one of the best I’ve ever had! Super friendly and helpful picking out menu items! Thanks for such a great restaurant and margarita!

Some of the best tacos we’ve ever had! Wonderful appetizers too, and the Sangria was great. We definitely will be back!

Our waiter was more focused on getting as many tables as he could and not taking care of the tables that he had. I had to go to the bar to get a refill and hot sauce since he never checked on us. He was not a friendly guy and was rude to us. This is the first time we had service that was so bad.
