Food was great! Server very friendly, really good service!! Cute place, nice bar too. And there is parking which is a plus for La Jolla.
Restaurant was very busy due to an event with more people than event planners had estimated, thus slowing down the greeting and the food. Service was VERY friendly and we were not in a hurry, so all was good. We were even comp'd a dessert for the delay in our order. Kudos to "Megan" for her friendliness and efficiency.
Decided to take advantage of the happy hour menu. It’s a great deal. All should check it out.
Great place to watch Sunday Football games, eat breakfast, and relax. The food is fine but the staff and service is amazing!
Great tasting food, unexpectedly, for a beer hall. It exceeded our expectations.
Sadly this was not at all what we expected for how it was advertised. The service, poor girls, was patchy at best because there was total chaos. The burgers sat in a pool of grease and the noise was unbearable.
The service was excellent, and the happy hour prices were very good. I tried 3 different IPAs and they all tasted the same (none of them exceptional ) The food was mediocre at best.
Great service & food was yummy. Very nice place, super clean and well decorated. Highly recommend!
Awesome set up! Love the military discount and the way helicopters were involved in the beer selection!
Our family dined here while visiting the SD area and had a fantastic experience. Our server was very helpful in answering our questions about the menu, and each of us was able to find something that we really liked. The service was great, with each course being delivered promptly, and the server checked in with us just often enough to make sure we had what we needed but not to the point of being overbearing. Overall, a nice night out.
What a cool place! We sat on the patio which had two firepit sitting areas. We ordered the calamari and chicken wings for starters, and both were good. The steak frites, however, was excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the overall value was great. Be sure to try the La Jolla Mojito -- delicious.
Our waitress did a great job. We had a party of 10 for a late birthday dinner and she made sure she came by took care of all sides of the table. The food was better than average bar food. The tots were great and so were the garlicky fries. The pesto pizza app was delicious and so was the chocolate brownie dessert. Overall a great time.
Thank you for your review, JGSD! We're so glad you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you back in soon!
Service, food, and beer (oh my, the Snakedriver) was outstanding.
Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate the kind words and hope to see you back soon!
Excellent service and atmosphere. A good value for the money in a pricey village.
Thank you so much for your review! We appreciate the feedback and hope to see you back soon!
Visited on a Saturday morning at 11am for brunch. Completely empty and only 1 person working. He was nice and took care of us but this is why I can’t comment much on the ambience or energy as there was none. CAVU has a brewery vibe, casual and hipster.
We started with the calamari appetizer, which was fine. It was in strip form with good flavor and good dipping sauces. One was like tartar sauce and the other was a spicy, sweet and sour sauce. One of us got the CAVU burger and was very pleased with it. The other got the mussels, which had great flavor but was very, very salty. We understand that steamed mussels typically are on the saltier side but this was extremely salty. Definitely too salty to eat the brine with the bread, as you regularly would.
Overall, while not a bad experience, would probably not seek to eat here again.
Visiting San Diego, picked out this brewpub because of the military connection. The food in this town is all so good, it’s hard to say where CAVU fits in, but we loved everything that we got. Typically, a brewery will have a couple of good burgers, try to get the fries right, and everything else is suspect. But at CAVU, the kids meals and all of the side dishes were standouts in their own right. Service was excellent, and the beer holds its own in a very tough market. We’ll be back next year, hope to see CAVU on store shelves soon!
Thank you so much for your review, Steve! We are so glad you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you back soon!
They weren't open when we arrived for our reservation and we never even received a call to let us know the information was inaccurate.
Ordered the charcuterie tray. Waiter asked if we’d mind waiting a bit for it. I asked how long and he said like 20-25 minutes because it takes awhile to cut the meats. I said we’d wait. Then the waiter returns a few minutes later and says that he’s sorry but they don’t have the right bread for it and asked if we’d like it with pita bread or if we just wanted to cancel it. We canceled it and left.
