   Had a wonderful afternoon tea as a belated Mother’s Day celebration for my mother in law. Food and service was excellent, it was a lovely experience.

   I’ve not been a great fan of afternoon teas in the past, but this was bought for my wife and I so we went. I have to say this was excellent - and I rarely give something 5 stars but it deserves a 5 star rating. Food was excellent. Service brilliant - there often enough but not on top of you, and so friendly and relaxed. Recommended teas with each service (I know - for different teas!) were lovely and you could send them back if you didn’t like them. Expensive, but for a treat it’s with it.

   I have two very specific allergies, dairy and mango. Before I even arrived, the staff had come up with a custom sandwich menu all for me, without me asking, to ensure that I would be able to enjoy my tea experience alongside my partner. Everything was delicious, and the attention to detail was perfection.

   This was a very good afternoon tea. It was as described in the menu. I am not sure about the soup and palate cleanser additions but what was offered tasted OK. I would have preferred the pea and mint soup chilled as it was a hot day. The sandwiches were excellent and I was pleasantly surprised I liked the rarebit. The scones were also tasty with enough clotted jam and cream. The jam was quite sharp rather than sickly sweet which was also welcome. The green macha cheesecake and strawberry posset were very tasty. The Tiramisu was an extremely dark chocolate ganache flavour - a little too rich even for me. The tea was loose leaf and just the right strength. I didn't like the plain white Wedgwood teapots but this is nitpicking (some other tables had coloured ones that match the other sets) it was a wonderful experience. We arrived at 1.30pm were there for at least two hours the staff were attentive throughout. This meant we were able to seek shade in the hottest part of a very hot day and recover after 3 hours walking round Chatsworth House. This only left time for the giftshoo and farmshop so would not recommend this if you are going to Chatsworth as a tourst for the first time and want to do the gardens as well.
