Cavatore Italian Restaurant

I know what good Italian food is, and I've never had better. I can't wait to go back.
They really put too much tomato sauce on food. I was scraping off most of the tomato sauce. If I go back I’ll ask for 1/2 of what they normally use.
Also, what would be a romantic venue, was over run with loud children and babies.
In following with other reviews, the ambiance and feel of Cavatore is great. It's both quirky, and very Italian feeling from the inside. The only drawback is that the wait staff could be more attentive. Keeping in mind that it was Mother's Day, I was more than pleased that getting a table was possible, and my party did arrive later than expected. My only gripe would be that once seated, it did take quite some time to place our order as well as get our food. I'd still recommend this restaurant.
A great location to celebrate Mother's Day with my wife and daughter. Wonderful meal and great atmosphere to make the experience wonderful.
We had a party of 7 for Mother's Day and everyone enjoyed the food, piano player and the atmosphere!
Food, music servers were great, only complaint was the $3 charge because we split an entree.
Chris gave us a wonderful evening of service & patience. Explained everything and was very attentive.
We were disappointed. The calamari was fishy tasting and rubbery, like it was dated. The red snapper was overcooked and also tasted dated, not fresh. My husband's carbonara was tasteless. I couldn't even drink my Chardonnay. Cavatore is a vendor for my company. On occasion we cater in from them but, man, this was a very poor experience. The wait for items was extremely long. There was a large prom party and it's evident that the kitchen was overwhelmed. It was a wasted evening for us. Manager Roberto did take the snapper off the bill. Don't know if we'll return. I'd rather drive to Enoteca Rossa in Bellaire or North Italia, Grottos, or other nice Italian restaurants in the Houston area.
Our favorite restaurant in town. We go there for special occasions--this one was the visit of a daughter and granddaughter from Seattle. Also go occasionally just for a great meal and a married "date." Wonderful selection of authentic Italian offerings, and the best Caesar salad in town. Live piano music adds to the pleasant atmosphere.
The tableside prep of the Caesar Salad is great - delicious salad. Food was outstanding. My parents were visting from Austin and it will be our new favorite place.
Mrs. Piano lady was fabulous. We really enjoyed the music during our dinner.
Our waiter was friendly and jolly. His service and timing was excellent.
The Food was great for you pasta lovers!
They also provided a greatly timed birthday dessert and song to end our evening. Mrs. Piano lady came in right on queue to help us sing the birthday song to my sister. It was a fun time!
I have no complaints. This restaurant is excellent, kid-friendly, delicious, and the staff and live piano add to a beautiful ambiance.
From the outside, the place does not look like a 5 star place. Once inside, a different story. We ordered the Caesar Salad at the table was outstanding. We ordered pasta dishes which we as good as any we have had, anywhere on the planet.
Our waiter, Chad was excellent and added to the great dining experience! This is a must try in Houston.
Amazing! Food, service, atmosphere- it’s all perfect!
The food was fine. The waiter wasn't attentive. We would've ordered more drinks but he wouldn't visit our table often. We had to request the dessert tray... I doubt I'd return.
Very cozy, great food. They had a singer there the night we stopped by.
We have been coming here for years. The food and service have always been excellent but we always struggled with the wine selections by the glass. That has changed! The Conundrum and Saldo are both solid picks. Thanks for updating the wine selections. Still the best garlic bread and table-side Caesar Salad in town! We will definitely be back.
Good food, good service (could've been faster but we enjoyed the slower pace/relaxation). Loved the decor (was very Texas and eclectic). Really enjoyed the tableside caesar salad!
This is one of favorite places in the heights. It can be busy so make a reservation. My favorite is the veal Marsala. The table side ceasar is a must have.
It's the perfect place for a nice and elegant dinner. Along being able to have a conversation without telling and amazing filling food.
Ambience was great. Piano player was awesome. Food was mediocre. Service was lousy. I would go for casual dinner & drinks not for any occasion.
Although it was Valentine's Day, it took 2 hours to get our food, while others who came in after us were served and gone. The waiter had to ask us 3 times what we had ordered as he brought our appetizers, then salad. Leads me to believe he never put the order in in the beginning. Then they blamed it on the kitchen and the meal ordered as if that particular meal took extra time, which it didn't. Veal Saltimbucca? Don't think so. The food was average to say the least and nothing to write home about or write a recommendation about. Won't happen again.
Everything was great except that we waited 45 minutes for our food to come out.
I would not recommend for Valentine’s for sure. The overriding reason is that the piano woman ( is your regular man gone for good?) was so loud you could not really have a conversation. I had brought my friends from England who insisted on paying, and I was uncomfortable with the cost, service and noise. They did like the lamb ( not on the web, said steak and shrimp) but for $65 how about a proper vegetable? We’ll be back for kids pizza night or Caesar salad. You did ask...
I have been going to this restaurant for almost 30 years now, and it has always been an excellent experience, whether for lunch or dinner!
Food was average. Crawfish pasta was disappointing. Atmosphere with live piano player was outstanding.
I have been there many times and I am never disappointed.
Our server, Chris was excellent. Love the piano player. The food is always delicious at Cavatore, portion size seemed small though. Otherwise was s great Valentines dinner!
Wait staff was wonderful. We will visit this establishment again. I would suggest this location as a top 10 affordable Italian eatery in Houston. Thanks for a great experience!
Charming decor, romantic ambiance and great food rounded out an excellent experience. Keep this place in mind for special occasions.
Excellent experience, food, and service. Impressed!
I had a great time and your food was excellent!!! I highly will recommend it to family and friends!!!
We went to Cavatore to celebrate my husband's birthday, and it was indeed a treat. The service was quite good, although it waned a bit as our server got busier and busier - to be expected. The ambiance has always been lovely, including the décor, the character of the different rooms and the piano and violin music. The only drawback regarding the ambiance when we visited was that we were seated amid three different tables that included infants or toddlers. While they were relatively well-behaved, this was distracting at times and certainly added to the noise level. While I don't experience Cavatore as the ideal family restaurant, I would hope that some effort could be made to seat families with children in a separate section from tables with adults only. The food was delicious. As always, their unique Caesar salad was outstanding. Two or us had the veal "con limon" and it and the accompanying asparagus were perfect. My husband enjoyed his eggplant as well. We can recommend saving room for dessert, as both the pecan pie cheesecake and the key lime pie were extraordinary. We will return for special occasions in the future.
We were seated 30 minutes after our reservation time. Once we were seated we only saw our waiter when he got our order and brought my husband a glass of wine. We had to ask for water and some bread. The service was very slow but you could tell the place was packed. On a positive note the food was amazing and we will give this place another try. Just disappointed with the bad service.
Food is high quality but serving sizes leave a lot to be desired. Dinner dishes are expensive and feel more like lunch portions.
We were seated ten minutes late from our reservation time! Host was not organized and had five 7 PM reservations waiting. In addition server was overwhelmed although it wasn’t his fault. Second time here where I have had bad service. Owners really need to intervene or they will lose more customers.
Cavatore's is a super fun place in the Heights. The piano player was excellent. The food is wonderful. The pasta is made from scratch! We enjoyed the ambiance, and the service was personal, but not overdone.
Love the piano on Friday night! Table side Caesar salad is always amazing!
Every time I eat at Cavatore the food is exceptional, as is the entertainment and staff. It deserves an A+!
