Delicious food and grear drinks menu
Expertly executed American coastal cuisine with a fun and elevated take on American classics. The host and wait staff were perfunctory, seamlessly handing the food delivery and comforting clients with banter. A welcoming space that invites exploration and that comes through in the food. We want to go back ASAP!
This little gem provided an amazing dining experience. Annie was our server and she did an outstanding job guiding us through both the food and beverage menus while providing excellent recommendations married with a charming table side manner. The “risotto” was out of this world and all the items we tried hot the mark. Cavan leaps to the top of my list for a return dining experience.
Great new appetizers that are very inventive! wonderful friendly staff! LOVE this place!!
Love this place. My favorite burger in the city. Great cocktails
Great ambiance and food. Excellent cocktails. Nice outdoor seating.
The service was very good but the food wasn't. We were there for brunch. I had the french toast with bourbon syrup. The bread was tough and didn't seem well cooked. And there was barely any syrup. My wife's food was tasteless. Very disappointed considering it was highly recommended from a friend.
Food, service and atmosphere were great!
Great food with unique flavors in a novel space. Downside--freezing air conditioning had many waiting to eat outside and those who stayed in left shivering through dinner. The dessert menu options don't match the sophistication and caliber of the dinner menu. Though I was more than full from the delicious and generous-sized salad and entree, I was curious to see what they did with dessert. A little disappointed by the generic options.
I brought my clients out to dinner for a special celebration. It's a good thing I really like them because dinner and service took 2.5 hours. The food was exceptional but I will certainly consider who I want to spend time with and not go hungry.
Awesome place, great service, excellent food. Would go here repeatedly.
We had an amazing night celebrating a birthday and a wedding anniversary. This definitely was one of our favorite dining experiences we’ve ever had.
food was delicious and service was great! We went for a birthday brunch but would also be a nice spot for a date or dinner with friends.
Met my daughter for brunch last Saturday. The cocktails were unique and imaginative, delicious start to the meal, and very refreshing. The duck prosciutto was very good, and a perfect appetizer that we had to share. The alligator soup was thick, creamy, very savory, and went beautifully with the duck. As did the grits and shrimp. The grits were very creamy, the shrimp were large, cooked to perfection, tender, and buttery. We ate on the porch of the old home right on Magazine that Cavan is located in. Great ambiance, delicious food, great service. Our server was Natasha, who brought excellent service, a great personality, a willing smile and engaging personality, and wonderful suggestions to us. Especially welcome to us, as it was our first visit to Cavan and her personable assistance was spot on!! Can't wait to go back!
Not sure what all the fuss was about. Hostess/servers/bartenders weren't that great. Food was good but not spectacular. Got there at 7:30 for 8:30 reservation. Hostess said should only be a 15 minute wait. 45 minutes later I had to ask what the deal was. They said "oh we were just about to come get you." Empty tables everywhere throughout the night.
Fish dinner was fantastic
Recommend corn fritters
Fun way to show off nola to a client.
This was our first visit to Cavan, but certainly not our last. We decided to try someplace new for our daughter’s birthday. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. The service was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious! We were all extremely pleased with our experience and cannot wait to come back!
Very delicious dinner.
Always a treat to eat here. The dining room is very comfortable, the food is always top notch, and service above and beyond. Thanks to Annie and the rest of the staff for taking such wonderful care of us.
Lots of character and the food was fantastic. They accommodated an addition to a rather large group, and the service was fantastic. Definitely worth the trip off the beaten path and ask about Lucille the ghost! So cool!
Absolutely phenomenal. Do not miss going here when visit or living in NOLA. looking forward to going back
Cavan was a fascinating stop as we were "touring" Magazine Street. With so many options, we chose Cavan due to the name (family history with it). It was as advertised, American food with a twist. The dish we had was delicious and unique. The chef has combined a number of tastes in his menu. The building is an old house with an interesting history, but it was too loud for my tastes as the tables were close together in the small room and the acoustics of an old house made for loud dinner. Overall, it was a fine dinner but as visitors to New Orleans, we would have been better suited to go more traditional Orleans cuisine.
Great dinner and place to sit outside, relaxing and great happy hour!
Place was beautiful at night. I feel like maybe our waitress could of been more nicer and welcoming but I just didn’t get that vibe, however she was attentive and the food was good. I would definitely come again
If I could have given a six star rating I would have. What a gem!!!
The turtle soup here is soooo good. The staff is great as well.
Certain aspects of our meal were good: the wine, the space, the friendliness of our server, and our squash and beet salad. Unfortunately, the entrees did not meet the standard set by the salad—my crispy chicken with crab fried rice was super breaded and oily, and the rice was also very heavy. An order of olive bread was an inexplicable $6 and came with no butter or oil of any kind—just slices of toasted bread. My two companions got steak with broccolini, which was fine but similarly unadorned, just slabs of meat and plain steamed broccolini on a big plate (for $48!). Our server was very kind in marking up a menu to help my gluten-free friend, which we appreciated. But the food (except the salad) was just not very good, and certainly not up to the level of the prices charged.
Go! ‘Nough said.
If you need more convincing, read my review. The place is great, the food and pricing are commensurate. Pleasant and attentive wait staff. Thanks for the memories, Cavan; we will be back!
Service could have been quicker but could not have been nicer or more knowledgeable. Food was possibly the best brunch we have had.
I made a last-minute reservation at Cavan as I wanted a restaurant that offered delicious food in a beautiful and authentic setting. I could not have been more pleased. We were seated on the second floor near the bar, but I found all of the staff, service, food and ambiance to be outstanding. Everything was savory, every bite delicious and the prices very reasonable. I highly recommend Cavan and will definitely be back next time I am in town.
Very creative menu and cocktails. Good for people with adventurous pallets. Restaurant has a great vibe and look of an old New Orleans Home. Good happy hour with half price options. Will be back
Perfect for happy hour with a friend. We were there for hours, ate and drank like beasts and they never rushed or made us feel anything other than welcome to work through the menu and visit.
Cavan was our last dinner for our first trip to New Orleans. The food was delicious and the staff is incredibly attentive.
Whole fish was fabulous. Appetizers were delicious. Olive bread was good.
I would love to see Turtle soup taken off the menu!
service was awful. Food tasted like someone spilled an entire container of salt in it. The bill was incorrect. Will NEVER be back.
Wonderful service, delicious food, breathtaking building.
After our convention, we were looking for a restaurant open at 11pm. They seated us at 11:30, kitchen closes at 12am. Our waiter never rushed us. He was friendly. Food was amazing! We were happy to find such a gem. The general Lu's chicken was described by my friend one of the best fried chicken she ever had. highly recommend!!
Very nice, great servers. Great evening!
