Fantastic spot. Really wish there were more Cava Mezze locations. They’d kill it in downtown Bethesda. Kapnos was super popular and only closed due to management “issues.” Cava Mezze is everything that Kapnos Bethesda was.
This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I still love their classic dishes like the grilled octopus, lamb chops, and scallop risotto. Unfortunately, I have to admit that I'm disappointed with the new dishes and especially since they removed the Avgolemono soup from their menu.
Such an awesome brunch experience. Way more food than one would think would be served given the number of choices, and there is something for everyone. Wonderful service as well.
Seated in a high traffic area
Our server Marilyn was fantastic. She made us feel welcome and our experience was amazing on New Years Eve. Thank you.
Food was good. Very cozy space but the service was very slow. My dad's order took more than 1/2 hr to come so he had to take his meds late. I wasn't happy about it.
We are outside because of the pandemic. Not the most amazing outside seating, but they made it work, had heaters, and we were comfortable. Great wait staff
We had the best time. The food was AMAZING! I will be sure to tell all of my friends and family about Cava. Very family oriented as well. Drink were nice and strong.
Good was fresh and great. Our waitress Marilyn was so attentive. Fun delicious nite!!
We ate outside. It was so dark, I couldn't wait to leave. I was craving a Souvlaki sandwich and think I should have been told it was simply skewers of meat. At home I would never have a main course of meat and nothing else.
Brunch - on guest did not receive order until everyone was almost finished.
Great food, great service, great time, every time we go
Excellent food (especially the brussels sprouts and the grilled meatballs) and helpful, attentive service. The dining room was super chaotic when we visited-- 7pm on a Friday night-- and it was hard to carry on a conversation. If you want a calmer, more intimate experience, a non-peak time might be more to your liking.
The house made ginger beer is fantastic (especially in a cocktail)!
It is always great!
Great food…excellent service! Only drawback is that the tables are way too close together (esp for Covid dining!) and it is impossible to hear the person sitting across from you.
Awesome food and service
Excellent food. Great service. The food is very close to food in Greece. The owner and management is very hospitable and gives you personal attention.
We went for Sunday brunch. Despite being clearly busy, we got our food in a timely manner and drinks were never empty. High quality and delicious menu items, each and every one.
Food was good. Waiter was friendly. But we felt so rushed. We didn’t have a chance to sit and enjoy. They had us in and out as fast as they could.
Always a fun night out - great food and fast service. One of our favorites!
Always a great experience! The food is outstanding.
delicious Mediterranean tapas style dishes. even better for people that like to share!
The meal and service were excellent- but the noise/volume from the bar made it so we struggled to have a conversation. Our waitress helped us switch tables, but we shouldn’t have been sat so close to the bar when there was a large loud group (happy hour?) there.
We used to frequent Cava Mezze more frequently before the pandemic and used to like it. Now the food seems pretty mediocre - the Saganaki was not properly flambed and tasted strongly of alcohol. They did give us another when we pointed it out. There were 3 of us, and we were provided with only 1 menu - and it was old and the print was fading. In the poorly lit restaurant, it was not easy to read and having fading text in the descriptions didn't help. When I pointed this out to the server, she had to check for herself (instead of taking my work for it) before she realized that a new menu was needed. We ordered several items: saganaki (poor), zucchini fritters (mediocre), potato terrine (good), calamari (mediocre), lamb meatballs (mediocre) and lamb chops (excellent). Overall, this was not a great experience. Something seems to have changed with the restaurant. Hopefully, they figure it out and get back to the way they were.
Great food, great service! Cava is the best restaurant in Montgomery County.
Excellent meal and excellent service! Outdoor heat lamps made the evening very comfortable.
Very slow, make sure you have enough time
Food was excellent but the price value for the wine was poor. $11 a glass of Pinot Noir, although a good wine, is on the high side for a 3 to 4 ounce pour
Everything was great!
Good food but portions were a bit small for the price.
It's nice to have cava as a local option. They weren't at their best on Saturday but overall it was good. The food was pretty good and came out fairly promptly, and the service was nice. And because other diners were taking their time on a nice night and thus clogging up the tables, they created an extra table for us so we wouldn't have to wait any longer (about 20 minutes after our res time). So that was thoughtful.
Less than perfect this time:
- I ordered a martini which came in a strange tumbler style glass.
- It's standard at cava to provide a little pita bread and some pepper salsa but we didn't get any.
- Because of the wait for a table the hostess apologized and promised free desserts - but our waitress wasn't informed and we didn't want to raise it. It wasn't really necessary, but don't offer and then fail to execute.
They offer good outdoor dining
Excellent food and service and plenty of outdoor tables. We will return!
Very good! It was my first rime and I plan to go back soon!
Fantastic French toast!
I’ve come here many times for dinner — which is always fantastic — though this was my first time for brunch. We sat outside, so missed the beautiful ambiance of the dining room. Our family enjoyed the lamb Benedict, lamb sliders and frittata, along with the aptly named flaming cheese which is a Cava Mezze speciality . Everything was excellent and the service was great. Cava Mezze never disappoints.
The food and service were great. Will definitely be back!
