Cava Mezze- Rockville
I need to get a job in the kitchen, so I can find out how they prepare their foods...all of which are amazing. We had:
- the zucchini fritters, which practically evaporate in your mouth, they were so light and airy (not heavy and oil-sodden like most fried foods)
- spanakopita, falafel, roasted beet salad
- scallop risotto (scallops were fantastic; meaty, moist, and mouth-wateringly tasty)
- lamp chops (to die for)
This was the first time we went for dinner. Everything was great. The branzino was particularly good. I will definitely order that again. Everything was freshly prepared and very flavorful.
Love it- consistently great
A little dark and smallish. Tables are too clise to each other, at least ours. Food was excellent and service is very good. Friendly people and manager. Offered free fried cheese.
Love the food. Hate the noise. Our server was friendly, helpful and not too intrusive. Wish the tables were not so close.
Food and service were excellent! We’ll be back!
I had a morning meeting at an office on Shady Grove Road and decided to have lunch on my way home at a restaurant I had not been to before. I chose Cava Mezze because I like small plates and Mediterranean cuisine. I expected to enter a restaurant with warm colors and warm lighting, but encountered a very dark decor that looked like western American rustic. I decided to order a glass of sauvignon blanc and two dishes, one cold and one hot, and ordered the wine and the hummus to begin. It was unlike any hummus I had every had before. A spice with which I was not familiar not only darkened the hummus, but overwhelmed the chickpea and tagine flavors. As I was about to order my second plate, a very loud party of six was seated next to me. As there were only two occupied tables in the restaurant, I expressed my displeasure to the server and asked him to bring my check and who determined the seatings for the guests. When he failed to bring it, I went to him, got the check, and took it to the person who was not only the one taking the payments, but also determining the seating, and handling the take-out order calls. I had to stand there while he finished a very long phone order. As he was about the process my card, two hand trucks of cases of wine were brought in through the narrow entry. I had to press myself against the wall to let them past me. Is there any wonder that I do not recommend this restaurant?
Good quality food, portions quite big! Wonderful service. Will be back definitely!
We love CAVA! Especially the flagship restaurant in Rockville. Food is always delicious, prices are a bit steep. 2 small lamb chops for $18 is too much. Need to adjust prices, or add more lamb to the plate, (and not add more potatoes!)
Every time it's really enjoyable ! Delicious food , pleasant atmosphere , excellent service !
Amazing food and ambiance
Really love the food and the place in general, but the noise level is a problem.
This is one of my fav restaurants... always great service
Always a great dinner out!
Amazing food, amazing service, amazing price.
My husband birthday.
Good food but it would have been nice to have the meat come out at the same time as the veggies. Server was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The place is small so it feels a bit cramped but still worth a visit.
Great fun a night out! Amazing food!!!!
Love love love this place!
Great food and excellent service.
Seated by bathroom and cash register. Ok it happens. Super narrow table that had no room for the food. If it was a timed eating event meaning apps followed by entree that would be one thing. But all the food comes at one time. No staggering at all. Oh yeah the pita was never served. Just plain forgot I guess. The wait staff gather around the bar and cash register creating a very narrow passage. I was bumped into at least 10 times in an hour. No concept about our space or any attempt to mitigate having a crowd congregate by our table. Not my idea of dining out. Cava needs to train the wait staff that they are there to serve and make the best experience possible. If Cava wants to place a narrow table by the cashier and bathroom they must train the staff about etiquette. Patrons are guests And should be treated to make the best possible experience. We were not. Our waitress was non existent. the first cocktail was great-barrel-aged old fashion garnished with an orange twist and Luxardo cherry. Second cocktail had no garnish- it is one of their featured cocktails but Guess the bar tender felt it was too much trouble.-poor showing by a bartender who should always serve cocktails correctly. We won’t likely return. No longer the place it used to be. I did not notice a manager anywhere checking in and performing quality checks.
If you go say no to the dreaded table. Wait. Avoid the scallops. Not worth it and average. The chicken lollipops are good but do not come prepared as stated. Mousakka is great.
I always have a good time at Cava. The staff is nice and the food comes out fast and delicious.
My wife and I visit this location often and it never fails to please.
We invited our friends to lunch for their first visit to Cava.It is a good thing we had reservations because the place was packed for Friday lunch. I find the service there consistently good. Servers are friendly knowledgeable and check in without hovering. The food was outstanding as always. My friends loved everything we ordered. But the cauliflower dish was the runaway winner. Two of us ordered mezze and two ordered sandwiches. There was so much food. The food comes out as it is prepared so everyone may not be served at the same time. Plates were promptly removed and water was refilled. This meal was a winner from start to finish.
The food at Cava was delicious, as always. It became very crowded which made it hard to get our waiter's attention, and the noise level became unbearable. I had to shout to make myself heard. It was very tiring after a while. A good place for a drink or quick bite. Not the place to linger.
Great food and good prices. A bit noisy. Best waitress ever.
The original Cava Mezze is always great!
Very enjoyable restaurant.
Took two friends for dinner. The food was outstanding (as always) and the service was great. Thank you!
Cava Mezze is a nice alternative to the depressing food landscape in Gaithersburg. Food is simple but well prepared and with some original twist in some of the dishes. Service is friendly and efficient
I find it a bit overpriced, but it's one of my favorite stops when in town for business.
Still delicious after all these years. Gluten-free friendly and server knew her stuff. Will be back!
A nice touch of spice. If you like mild, tell the server
Cava is great! The food is fantastic and the wait staff are the best. It is loud inside especially on Friday nights. Don't expect to have a quit meal.
Only concern is very high noise level Have to yell to have conversations
It was delicious.
Love Cava for every occasion. The food is just out of this world!!!
Good food, especially the lamb chops and grilled shrimp. Good service in a nice neighborhood restaurant.
Have been coming to this Cava in Traville Gateway for years and dining experience is always very good. The food and service were excellent on our most recent visit.
