The burger was probably the best I've ever had! Literally SO GOOD! The only thing was that the rest of the menu was a little weird... it just didn't all flow together but if you love burgers this place is a great choice. Came here with my cousins from Mexico who wanted American food and they were not disappointed. Definitely recommend!
Cute atmosphere and best burger I’ve ever had. Service was top notch!
Great food. Quick service pre ballet on a Saturday evening.
Best burger I've had in San Francisco! Highly recommend
Excellent food, great service - well worth the walk
The server kept disappearing and then would forget our orders. They forgot all about one of the small plates that we ordered at the beginning (appeared on our bill anyway) and a drink that we ordered towards the end. It may have been a bad night for them, I wouldn't know, but they definitely don't have their act together.
Yum! Only let down was the fact there is only one bathroom for all, and it’s a cramped restaurant in general so there is nowhere to wait for the restaurant without standing over someone eating.
Very good experience though it was marred by the table we were given. The restaurant has a deuce in the back corner where they seat couple's and their baby in stroller. If that is where you put them, because of space, I get it. Then DO NOT put a reservation next to that table. We had to deal with 2 different couple's and their babies. WE HAD A RESERVATION! NOT COOL!!
Great service and great food. Quiet and perfect for a calm night out.
Great little place that carries one of the better hamburgers you can find in this city for a fair price. While it’s small and can be busy at times the staff does a fine job of helping each other and the customers. It’s nice to enjoy a lunch without the obnoxious noises so often attributed to busy lunch spots as well, nice tall ceilings, makes a big difference.
We had a great Sunday brunch here last weekend. I took my coworkers here visiting from North Carolina that had never been to SF before. Brunch food was excellent- I got the benedict. $6 mimosas was a plus. Very cute place in a good location. However, the waitress was very absent the first half of the meal (the person that poured us water ended up taking our order because she never came by to take ours), when she did arrive, she ended up being pretty snotty to my coworkers when they explained that they needed to separate the checks for their food and mimosas because they are traveling on business. When they asked her politely if she could make it happen, she rolled her eyes at them and walked away. When she came back, she practically slammed the receipts on the table and walked away. I would go back here, however. Like I said, the food was great.
THE best burger I've eaten in SF. That is all.....
Friendly great service from the staff; especially from Debbie the Bartendress.
Burger A+ They changed the bun 3 years ago they said, but I did notice something was off. I didn’t feel my burger had enough of their special sauce. My husband disagreed and said it still taste the same since he first had it 5 years ago. Still it is my favorite burger in SF.
I did add celebrating a birthday, in the comment section on open table, my birthday at that, but no card or even acknowledgment. I’ve been to restaurants in the past for my bday and they would give a card or free dessert. But I don’t know if that’s on open table or Causewells?! Guess every restaurant is different. Then I say, open table shouldn’t have it as an option to comment. Just sayin!
First time, it's was New Years Eve, we walked from were we were staying. Got right in for our 9:15 reservation. The staff was attentive, food was good...a nice experience and we are definitely going to go back.
Best burgers around
This is our favorite neighborhood spot! Food is delicious and service is great.
The food was delicious, service great!
Great brunch option! The brunch burger is TO.DIE.FOR.
I usually go there for their burger, which is fantastic, but the other day I've tried their spare ribs and it was the best ribs I had since I've moved to America! falling off the bone meat, tasty and original sauce and everything else is amazing! Pair with one of their tap beers and you'll have a blast!
Hamburger and Salad outstanding but service way, way slow...though very nice people!
Very disappointing experience. We went for brunch. Two of the menu choices were sold out and the server didn’t tell us that when we got the menus. It was only 1:30! The fresh ricotta was yummy. Everything quite ordinary. Too many other fine brunch options. I doubt we’ll be back. Our server from Serbia was quite professional and apologetic for the missing menu items.
Very good service, prices very good. Food average ... pretty busy place and seats are close to each other... But it's the Marina... what can you say!
Had a great experience at Causwells for a Saturday brunch with friends. Friendly service, very good food, cozy environment.
Enjoyed brunch here before heading over to the Palace of Fine Arts. It's in a lovely neighborhood and I'm glad we made reservations because it seems popular. Food was quite good for anyone who either wants standard brunch fare (eggs, bacon and toast) or something a little different (chilequiles). Would definitely go back if we're in the area again.
I entered with a reservation and was told it was necessary to wait, although the place was half empty. After 10 minutes I asked why it was still necessary to wait and the hostess told me that she wanted to seat me at a still occupied corner table in a half empty place!!! I asked if it might be possible to seat me at one of the numerous empty tables and the hostess agreed. And then I sat and sat and sat. Finally, as I put my hat on to leave a waitress came over. No apology. Nothing. She took my order. The food was OK. The service and experience miserable. They really needed a manager to oversee what was going on. The food was OK.
Nice neighborhood place, Small menu, food okay - just wine and beer and soda.
My friend and I both really enjoyed our meal and appreciated having a few vegetarian options and will probably return to try those we didn't have in this visit. The root vegetable soup and ricotta small plate were both excellent.
Fit for FOODIES. Always delicious seasonal food, best burger in town. Friendly and Fun.
The Americana burger was excellent. The burger was absolutely worth the price and you’re doing yourself a huge disservice in not trying one. The staff was attentive and had a working knowledge of the menu and beverage list. Couldn’t ask for more
Overall Great Experience! Seated outside was perfect for the dogs, friendly servers, never needed to ask for anything. New local favorite.
Good food and friendly service at this nice, laid-back Marina hangout. The burger is legendary, and the setup works particularly well for groups of drinkers at brunch/lunchtime.
BEST BURGER EVER !!!
After ordering brunch waited 50 minutes for food. Food wasn't hot. This was a noontime Saturday reservation.
Love this place. Is our go to.
The homemade ricotta was just as good as every review before this one has predicted. I'm also a huge fan of beet salad and the beet salad I had here did not disappoint. The scene was..."vibrant" (my 58-year old assessment)...but perfect for treating our 26-year old and her friends to a dinner when we were visiting SF. Our waiter was really nice and they were wonderfully accommodating about our crowded table when we added a last minute guest. If I were young, lived and worked in the Marina District - or anywhere in the Bay area - I'd want to visit often.
We had the Baby Back Ribs and the Roasted Beets. Both were delicious. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating.
I like the crispy baby back ribs and the octopus appetizer. The hamburger was very good and serving was generous. I didn't finish mine it was too big. Next time I shouldn't eat anything before eI go to the restaurant/
Overall it's a nice place to eat on Chestnut that is not overrun with the fraternity or sorority crowd. The hushpuppies are worth going back for...
This place is cute but very small with friendly service. A friend and I went to lunch on a very hot day. We were hoping to sit outside and enjoy the sun. But it was way too hot (remember that 106 temp?). It is a fun place to enjoy lunch in the Marina. We loved the hamburgers. And they gave us lots of ice water.
