We went on a Sunday evening and had a great time. Our server, Jenna, was so quick, didn’t rush us, and was really lovely to chat with. We will definitely go back!
Beautiful patio, delicious food, amazing service. Overall very happy with my experience.
The waiter was polite and kind. We came to try the resteraunt for the first time and have the oysters. He did tell us as we ordered this was the first night for them since covid. So I certainly can appreciate a less than flawless experience as it was the first night. However, the oysters themselves were less than fresh I would say. We ate them but were not overly impressed with the taste. Two sauces were served. I have never seen seafood sauce served with raw oysters. I tried it but thought it was terrible( which is likely why you do t see it paired with oysters) the other sauce was I guess a take on mignonette. Hardly any onion and way too much sugar. Gave the oyster a sweet taste on an already ehhh oyster. There was no horseradish(fresh or otherwise) served. No spoons in the sauce. The ice tray was half melted. The waiter dropped them and left, didn’t ask if we needed anything, which meant I Had to chase him down for spoons, salt, and asked for a hot sauce, didn’t bother asking for horseradish. This should be a simple fix for the kitchen. Also a proper mignonette sauce and a couple nice hot sauces with horseradish would make a world of difference. If you can’t get fresh oysters for the price, then up the cost to the customer to 1.50 or 2… fresh oysters are a must! Normally we would order 2.5 dozen, last night we could barely stomach a dozen. Pleaseeeee fix this.
Requested outdoor seating - we were offered a couch and a coffee table for seating. Not a table for a meal. Only option was to eat inside. Not ideal with COVID looming but we agreed.
Service was slow. We were there for 1.5 hours. It wasn’t busy. Had no apps or dessert. Just took forever. Bland food. Wasn’t horrible. But nothing to write home about.
Specifically chose to go to cause and effect for the breakfast menu which looked fantastic, however they did not indicate on their website that they were currently not offering the breakfast menu. Other patrons had the same issue. Ended up staying, and enjoyed the food, but was left disappointed overall. Would def go again once the breakfast menu is back or for evening drinks
We made reservations and were seated facing the gate. Eventually we were moved. Our food took over an hour almost 2. Only the chicken tenders were taken off the bill. We spent over $400! After our waiter was done his shift no on else came to serve us for over an hour. We ended up calling someone over and started going to the bar to get drinks ourselves. Our water was refilled one time and once again we had to find someone and tell them our table to refill our water. Not to mention we were told at arrival the oven was broken... so we were limited with what we could actually order. Overall horrible experience. The restaurant shouldn't accept that many guest if it's not able to handle it. Every one kept saying "we're really busy, sorry".
Our waitress was incredible!! Food was delicious!!
Service was terrible. They didn’t have our reservation. Servers seemed impatient. We waited 20 minutes for our drinks. Half the menu wasn’t available because their ovens have been broken for three days?? Overall not a great experience.
This was extremely expensive for very mediocre food. There is also no dome experience unlike what is listed on open table, I couldn't cancel due to the deposit I put down and got rained on just before my sit down time.
Dinner and service was great. Drinks were creative. When do you ever get candy floss as a garnish on your drink??? Awesome!! Made me want to drink more.
My 10 year old said her burger tasted like a piece of heaven. The food was good, the service was good. Just wish they had had more of a covering on the patio as it was overcast and drizzling when we were there.
Bad service. 123345678910111213141516171819202122 2324
Excellent food! And service! Cant wait to go back!
The waitress was outstanding! Service was very quick! The food was delicious and the portions were huge!
Not bad. The kitchen missed our order and we had to wait a long time for our food. These things happen but nothing was comped or suggested to be discounted, which is typical. Now, we did not ask as restaurants are getting back on their feet, so there may have been wiggle room here if we had pursued. Drinks and food were average at best. We ordered appetizers so not sure about the entrees. Server was pleasant. Other patrons seemed to be enjoying the ambience. Nice view of large TV from patio.
We had a wonderful lunch with our kids watching the soccer game , our waitress Sam was amazing, attentive and super friendly . Thank you !!!
Will never go here again!! The owner / manager Jim was extremely rude. While eating, he came around to interrupt our dinner and talk to us, and blatantly insulted my wife. I have NEVER experienced anything like this before at a restaurant. He seemed intoxicated and smelled strongly of rum. I feel bad for the servers who have to work here (they did do a terrific job). Will be avoiding this place like the plague. The food was mediocre at best.
What a great experience that was! We were in a dome outside. It was cozy and private. Service was excellent, food was delicious. Loved it!!
Everything was awesome! Great spin on some bar favourites!
It was our first time eating there. Sam was our server and she was so friendly and helpful. Loved the unique take on the food. So tasty! Will definitely return once lockdown number 3 is over
The outdoor domes are a great way to support local restaurants during this Pandemic. Would definitely go back.
Great food, and great service!
The staff and manager were excellent
Fantastic service. They were running approx 15 min behind, but didn’t rush us out. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and we got to eat outside in our own dome. Loved it!
The restaurant was locked and no one answered the phone. We were there for 7:30 when our reservation was at 8pm and only to find out they are closed. No sign indicating that there was possibly an immediate closure due to a Covid Case or emergency. This was disappointing because we drove over an 1 hour to this restaurant specifically for the dome experience. The restaurant requires a credit card to confirm your reservation and they specifically state no last minute changes or a possible charge will be added. Not only were they not able to open but they didn’t even have the courtesy to call me to let me know they are closed.
After following up with me 3-4 times about making sure that I still wanted my reservation, the restaurant failed to notify me by any means (email, phone, sign on the door) that they had been shut down and were no longer able to seat us. What a waste.
I had a reservation for my daughter's birthday, I called and I was told to book on line, I did it when i went there the doors were closed. Not even a phone call as to why. Waste my time.
We were beyond excited for our reservation that was booked to celebrate 2 birthdays in our family.
We drove all the way from Burlington because we are not comfortable with indoor dining and we knew it would be a bit chilly for a patio.
Upon arrival, the door was locked!
We were greeted by a cracked door and told 'we are closed'!
I explained we had a reservation and was bluntly told that they had been shut down without any kind of apology.
To say we are disappointed would be an understatement.
Cause & Effect, I hope you intend to make this up to your customers who were not even contacted to be told their reservation would not be accomodated.
Took my step father here for his birthday. We reserved a dome for 7pm on a Monday night. I knew it was only an hour reservation but for some reason I thought this would mean the servers and kitchen would be faster service. We arrived 30 minutes early (we wanted to make sure we weren’t late because we are from just outside of Hamilton). We called the restaurant and asked when to come in they said they would call us. 5 minutes to our reservation I called again and asked if we are still waiting on a phone call. They said they forgot and to come on in, they just had to clean our table. We weren’t brought to the dome until 10 minutes after our reservation started (7:10). Once we sat down we ordered drinks and our appetizer at the same time trying to be thoughtful of the time. The waitress was very welcoming and brought us really cool dry ice martinis. The appetizer was wonderful and we ordered our food when she brought out the drinks. The food came out at 7:50 (keep in mind we need to leave by 8 according to their dome policy). Right as the food was being set on the table the server asked if we needed anything else and then asked if we wanted to bring our meals inside so they could prepare for the next reservation. We said no, we believed we deserved to be there until at least 8 due to the fact that we were not sat until 7:10. We started our meals, everyone loved theirs. I payed $28 for a burnt steak (very well done) when I asked for medium rare. I wanted to say something to our serverbut with all the commotion of being asked to move and us asking to stay I didn’t want to make a bigger deal. At 7:57 we were asked to move into the dining room to finish our meal. We celebrated his 50th with yummy funnel fries but not the environment we were hoping for. I could have been more understanding had all the other domes followed the 1 hour policy. However the dome right next to ours had 4 partying girls that stayed until 8:30pm in their dome. We paid $260 and I will not be back.
it was packed way over Covid restrictions, I booked a reservation and we weren’t seated until 40 minutes after, food came not how we ordered it and took forever, we were there for over two and a half hours total, our waitress barley checked on us and we had to call her over multiple times. I’ve been to cause and effect multiple times and it’s biggest support but this was a huge let down
Service was not good, prices were very high. Took 20 minutes for a waitress to come take our drink order and it felt rushed because of the time limit on the dome
Great food and experience. I took my goddaughter and the atmosphere was nice. The service was impeccable and I will definitely be back again. I recommend the salmon!!
Outdoor patio with the igloos was awesome! Excellent service and food!
Lovely place! Friendly staff, Angie was a great host. Food was really nice, no complaints and would definitely return. Very covid clean.
Unfortunately the 1 hour dining limit was not enough in the outdoor dome, because the service was on the slower side. By the time we had ordered and received our food we only had a few minutes to eat. We ended up having to be moved inside to another table, so I’m glad the restaurant was able to accommodate us that way but it was really annoying.
We dined at cause and effect for the first time and overall we had a great experience and will definitely be coming back. The food did take a little longer to come out, and they have 1 hour time limits that you're allowed to eat because they are busy with the next booking. But the manager came over to our table during the wait and offered a snack for our little ones which was greatly appreciated and made up for the wait so we didn't mind at all. The service was outstanding and the food was delicious. The outdoor dining experience was really neat in the dome tents, I liked the lights as an added touch. We can't wait to come back.
Toasty warm inside the dome a the food was great! Wonderful customer service and the price was very reasonable. Visiting again soon!
Food is always good. Great portions. Friendly staff. Prices are reasonable one of my favourite places to go
The staff were nice and friendly. Food was good.
The restaurant was a bit chilly from the doors being opened due to the servers having to go outside. Not much you can do about that I guess.
